The third game in the popular Bioshock series, BioShock Infinite breaks away from the underwater setting of the first two games to take players into a floating city held aloft by dirigibles. The game is set in 1912. You play as Booker DeWitt, a disgraced former private detective who's picked up a new case. Your goal is to find Elizabeth, a young woman who's gone missing and return her unharmed. The only problem is that she's being kept on this flying city. Columbia was once a symbol of America's success as a nation, floating around the world as a traveling World's Fair, a marvel of human innovation. But strange things have happened since Columbia's unveiling in 1900, and now the city has disappeared into the clouds. DeWitt knows how to find it, but over the years stories have been told about Columbia having unlawful heavy armament and deranged citizenry. Do not expect this to be a pleasure cruise.
Gamers have learned not to expect much from co-op AI companions. Keep up, don't block doorways, and throw out the occasional one-liner is about the best we can hope for. Irrational Games will attempt to raise the co-op AI bar with its time-and-space-tearing partner, Elizabeth, in BioShock Infinite, and as the latest trailer demonstrates, she will, at the very least, pack a powerful punch. The faux grainy hand-held camera footage of the Songbird in the latest trailer for BioShock Infinite has a fantastic Bigfoot vibe. Makes me want to slug back a bottle of Murder of Crows, pack up my old 8mm camera, lace up my boots and go traipsing through the wilderness. Did you spot him in this BioShock Infinite trailer? He's right there, at the :55 mark. And again busting out of some glass while carrying a minigun at 1:09. That's either someone dressed as George Washington while carrying a minigun or a robot designed to look like our nation's first president. What's more patriotic than that?
