You know, I was almost-kinda-genuinely worried that the flow of scary games and DLC updates would be stemmed with the post-Halloween sugar crash. It seems I had no reason to worry; there'll always be a market for Dark Games! Today, the latest from famed game darkener American McGee -- who this time has twisted Red Riding Hood into the demon-hunting Akaneiro -- is entering closed beta.
The Closed Beta phase begins today with the introduction of 1000 players to help test server stability and game content. Once the Spicy Horse team is comfortable supporting those 5000 players, an additional 5000 players will be added to increase server load. The free-to-play Diablo-esque action MMO sees the Red Riding Hood folk tale transplanted into feudal Japan, viewed through a strongly artistic lens. I loved Alice: Madness Returns, so I'm all over this. You can sign up for the beta, too, at the official website.
From there, additional waves of testers will be allowed in as needed to test the game, balance content, and ensure server stability, with the eventual launch of Open Beta to come in the future.
