Poor, poor Ace of Spades. The Minecraft-meets-TF2 concept had such promise, but only managed to scrape up a poor-at-best rating in GameSpy's review. Will this gangster-themed "Valentine's Day Massacre" DLC help at all in patching up our massacred hearts?

The newest DLC has been detailed in an Ace of Spaces forum post (which shows that the review wasn't the only thing that took a hit -- the grammar on display here is depressingly hilarious). Most notable is the inclusion of new game modes:
2 new game modes are included, Territories, gives you the opportunity to achieve every mob bosses dream to take control of an entire city, where as the other mode, VIP, introduces two new boss characters who need to be protected by their respective gangs whilst attempting to take out the enemy.
Also included in the DLC is an array of drive-by weapons such as the tommy gun and the molotov cocktail, as well as maps based on Prohibition-era Chicago and the Alcatraz prison.

I'm a huge fan of the 1920s aesthetic and would love to see another videogame take on it, especially in block-based team warfare form -- but this kind of smells like the smoke of Ace of Spades' launch all over again. Such promise; will it deliver? The Valentine's Day Massacre DLC is on Steam for the currently discounted price of $4 -- and for 50% off, I'm wondering if the base game for $5 might be just enough of a discount to excuse some amount of shoddiness.
