Antichamber Review

PC Reviews | Feb 4, 2013

We've all encountered games with mechanics that are difficult to describe, but when you find a game where even the concept is difficult to put into words, you know you've come across something singular. Is Antichamber a puzzler with platforming elements? A philosophical examination of the boundaries of physical laws? A recreation of what a prison designed by Escher might have looked like? The answer, of course, is that it's a mixture of all of these, and while the result is a game that's not easily described, it's also one that's easily recommended if you're a fan of games that hide plentiful moments of satisfaction behind an array of fiendishly perplexing puzzles. Let The Antichamber Trailer Have its Way With Your Brain

PC News | Jan 30, 2013

Can a game drive you insane? Perhaps it's the lack of a musical score, or maybe it's the jump cuts, but there's something about this Antichamber launch trailer that's very reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey or The Shining. It's unsettling. Which is good, because Antichamber looks like the sort of game that intends to get us out of our comfort zones and thinking so far out of the box that we won't even be sure that it exists anymore. This trailer does an excellent job of preparing us for just that. Read More »

Antichamber Finally Gets a Release Date

PC News | Jan 18, 2013

The mind-breaking, casually fluctuating world of Antichamber has finally received a release date. After spending months honing its ability to pummel players with its philosophical perspective (phew), developer Alexander Bruce confirms that it'll be hitting Steam on January 31st. Though the price is still yet to be determined, he jokes, "At least it's coming out, right?!" Read More »

New Antichamber Trailer Shows Puzzling That's Incredibly Stylish, Largely Indecipherable

PC News | Feb 28, 2012

"WTF!?" asks a portion of abstract indie puzzler Antichamber's new trailer. I am inclined to reply with a "Yeah, what you said." Aside, however, from ostensibly featuring all the colors, Antichamber's a brain-pretzeling, MC-Escher-inspired physics to-do that maniacally cackles as it shatters both its own rules and your brittle, brittle synapses. For instance, mazes apparently re-shape themselves behind your back, because they're total jerks. So basically, it looks incredibly interesting, but in a "Wait, and then the thing did what now? I think I need to lie down" sort of way. Check it out after the break. Read More »
