Hello! My name is Matthew Rorie, and I'm the new Executive Editor at GameSpy. Dan, Mike and I are going to be bringing you plenty of PC gaming goodness this year, but I figured it'd be best to start off the year with a few words of introduction.

Some of you might be familiar with me already from my previous work, but if not, here's a short bio: I've been a PC gamer since the arrival of my first 486 DX/2 computer back in the early 1990s, and was fortunate enough to have been able to parlay my love of gaming into a career in the industry. I started doing freelance writing in college (one of my first projects was to co-write the official strategy guide to Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal), and moved over to GameSpot.com as the site's Game Guides Editor in 2004. In 2008, I moved on to Obsidian Entertainment, where I worked in marketing, PR, and production on games like Alpha Protocol and Fallout: New Vegas. For the past couple of years, I've been writing about movies and television, but I've felt the urge to get back into writing about games, so... here we are.

I've always primarily been a PC gamer, so it's a thrill for me to get a chance to work with the GameSpy team. We have some ambitious plans for 2013 which we'll be rolling out soon enough, but before we get ahead of ourselves, here are some recent things I've worked on that might give you a sense of where I'm coming from as a PC gamer.

My top 5 games of 2012 on GiantBomb.com.

Some extended thoughts on the reasons why Far Cry 3 didn't make that list.

Or this set of extended thoughts about Dark Souls, also on Giant Bomb.

You can also of course find me on twitter at @frailgesture, and you're also welcome to subscribe to me on Facebook should you want to learn about puppies and pictures of puppies and how all puppies should be in my hands at all times.

Lately I've been working through my Steam Holiday Sale backlog, so I'm playing games that I missed the first time around, like Sleeping Dogs and Darksiders 2, but I've also still been hitting the dailies grind in World of Warcraft; I recently dinged a Monk Brewmaster to 90, where she joins my Prot Pally in defending the squishier denizens of Azeroth from damage in heroic dungeons and the Raid Finder.

That's a brief overlook of all things Rorie. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to working alongside Dan and Mike to make 2013 a banner year for GameSpy! You'll start seeing stories from me pop up this week, but in the meantime, feel free to drop me a line in the comments if you have any questions!
