Yup, it's still technically in "closed beta," but who does Valve think it's kidding? Dota 2 is consistently the most-played game on Steam, dwarfing the likes of Team Fortress 2 and Counter-Strike by a huge margin, and Valve's already running million-dollar eSports tournaments. Pretty much all you have to do to get in right now is ask nicely, and then everything -- including its almost 100 champions -- is completely free to play with. That means that besides being one of the two most popular MOBAs running today, it's one of the freest free-to-play games around. Like Team Fortress 2 before it, Dota 2 has the potential to revolutionize the way free-to-play gaming on the PC works -- for the better.
Chief Criticisms: Won't come out of the beta closet; loyal to the original almost to a fault.
