recreate the look

It’s so interesting to see other bloggers and designers recreating a look inspired by a photo of a beautiful room. I thought to try it, too. It was a nice exercise to find similar products, and since this is my first “recreate the look” post it took a few days to make it and I didn’t care to find strictly all available and affordable products…which I hope will be my future practice. Scroll to see and tell me what you think!

{new series on the blog} design dilemma

Hello everybody, how are you? I’m starting this day with something new here on the blog. Sometimes I receive an email from my readers with question about decorating, and some questions inspired me for blog posts. I’m helping my friends and family with dilemmas, too… so I thought to start a new series here hoping to help you solve your dilemmas.design dilemma1

pinboard in gold and black

My sister needed a pin board to pin her inspiration photos and words, and to help her discover her passions and goals to achieve. So, we bought cheap and boring pin board with update on mind. Her choice is combination of black and gold, and I wanted to make it simple but beautiful even without anything pinned on it, so I went for chevron. I’ve considered some other patterns too but it would be more time consuming. This is the result:

HPIM3004

This is my tiny corner credenza, with oil bottle found in the sea, as well as the white coral branch, the Duck is handmade and beautiful, and the books happen to be my favorites: “Good Morning, Belgrade” ; “Monologue of smiles” poetry by my friend; “Incidental reflections” and “Wandering Bokelj”

{e-design} tiny studio ** mini garsonjera

The most interesting and the most challenging interiors to decorate are small apartments and studios. How many furniture is too much, or too many? Many examples shows it’s all about personal taste and living style.

Every space I get to decorate in any way is amazing by its own and I try my best to match owners ideas and tastes with my vision for their space. The studio here is so tiny, measures only 28 square meters (300sqft) and the owner wanted to fit a bed there, at first.

The owner is one interesting lady, modern and unconventional. I suggested for her two versions of the space, in both are various types of furniture and finishes to create the feeling it’s not decorated all at once, making the studio with character.

design board ** dizajn predlog

The designboard I made here is for my younger sister. She has a room in our family house. The room is already furnished, but not functional as it should be. There are two sofa beds, big armoire and one pretty big rectangular coffee table. Boring + it's taking too much of valuable floor space. She wants something more functional, according to her living style...place for relaxing, enjoying some quiet time, reading books, for yoga practising. She's inspired by Asian culture, especially Japanese, but also loves romantic French and Scandinavian functionality. I tried to combine the three, so my inspiration is this chevron pattern in black, taupe and blue palette, with lots of white, natural elements and contrasting rectangular and oval shapes. here's the design board:

{e-design} go bold or neutral? ** jarke ili neutralne boje?

Milica, reader of PassionDecor wrote me to help her decorating living, dining and kitchen - all in one space. She was ready to insert some colour, and couldn't decide whether to bring colour with details or go bold with painting walls. Her original space was totally neutral and she wasn't happy with it. Her favourite colours are purple and green, so above you can see my design concept. After the jump you'll see mockup of the space and designboards I made.

{e-design} family friendly small apartment ** mali stan prilagođen mladoj porodici

I was hired to help organize a 48m2 small apartment. Kitchen, dining area and living room are in one space, with one short interior wall between the kitchen and dining area. Tiny area should cover several diferent functions. Small working spot with a computer had to be included in the living room, and finding the way to organize large amount of books, magazines and plenty of family memories. The space had to be safe and functional for a little girl with enough toy storage. Client wanted natural pastel colours and romantic shabby cottage style. Kuhinja, trpezarijski dio i dnevna soba čine jednu cjelinu, a granicu kuhinje i ostatka dnevnog prostora čini pregradni zid visine 1m.

before*after: kitchen & dining area / prije*posle: kuhinja i trpezarija

It's been a while since I promised before and after photos of my childhood home, and now it's the time to show you photos of kitchen/dining area. Changes are always welcome, especially in case when nothing has been changed for decades. I wish I could keep the old wooden furniture, but it wasn't an option as I live in a small apartment. All I can is to keep visualising how the table and chairs would look in crisp white, and commode in bright pink or some other intense colour.

{Mada sam poodavno obećala fotkice moje kuće iz djetinjstva, tek sada su došle na red. I to slikice kuhinje i trpezarijskog dijela. Možete i da uporedite kako je bilo nekad, a kako je sad. Promjene su uvijek dobrodošle, posebno u slučaju kada ništa nije mijenjano decenijama, pa vremenom gubi sjaj i draž. Voljela bih da sam mogla zadržati stari namještaj od drveta i preurediti ga po želji, ali to prosto nije bilo moguće jer živim u malom stanu. A zamišljam sto i stolice lakirane u bijelo a vitrinu i dugačku komodu vjerovatno u neku intenzivnu boju. Roze? uh, to bi izgledalo fantastično!}

{reader's redesign} Aida's natural style / {pomoc citaocima} Aidin prirodni stil

Several months ago Aida asked me to help her choose furnishings and colors for her home in renovation as well as how to make better use of available space. She wanted airy, cozy and welcoming space with lots of wooden details. The ceiling is very low (2.2m) so intense or dark colors were not an option. Light and natural colors with proper lightning could make the space feel higher and more comfy.aida tlocrt bolji

a glimpse into ...

the home I used to live in with my parents. It's 1970 house, survived a strong earthquake in '79, and it hasn't changed since it was built. Now it is completely renovated, all plumbing and electric fixtures are brand new and layout is a bit changed. This time I'm just showing you dining room after photo and floor plans before and after. All before/after photos with some explanation will be posted soon.

my projects..eclectic wall clock

Finally I have permission to show you clock made of music record...and how it looks finished. Those who are following me from the start, read the post where I showed the sneak peak of my little and sweet project

When my father started renovating our family house, there were lots of things undiscovered, collecting dust. Among them were some old records which no one will ever listen. Don't worry,I saved a few of them worth saving.
We decided that nobody will need this record of Paloma Blanca (have YOU ever heard of them?)...and since my sister's room was in progress I suggested to make a wall clock out of it..as a present.
I had in mind from the start to put some Japanese inspired motif, as I know how much she loves the style.
Unfortunately, my father and his wife decided to decorate her room in totally different direction (while she was away)...so at least she has something she can carry with herself...

projects... my balcony

Before I post new Zara-fave-items-boards,I want to show you idea for my balcony. It was originaly a balcony, but the previous owner added windows,so it's sort of closed balcony. We've been using it as original purpose, but from the begining I wasn't happy with it. I would love my living room expands to the balcony. Few months ago, I made it as a playroom for Bumble, and there's also a hobby desk made by my husband. He's not using it very often,so I took it over :)

PD projects... new apartment

My relatives asked me to make design for their new apartment. They are building a three level house, but using only the level in the middle for themselves. The 130sq metres apartment is still in working progress, and my first asignment was to help them choose how many light and electricity fixtures they need and where to put them. Beside that, their main problem is to make the best of their 40sqm open space reserved for kitchen/dining/living area. I will show you my work as it evolves...

Nata's living room..

My friend recently married, asked me to help her find the best solution for their new apartment. She doesn't know how to put together things she loves, although she knows exactly what she wants. Her husband trusts her,but he has a problem to visualize her ideas. That's where I come in.
They want light wood furniture, like bleeched oak, stream lines, simple contemporary design. Light and natural color palette, with pops of warm green and brown.
Here's my idea

Did you miss me?

prvi 3D radovi..
