Butterflies and paint

Hi my friends
and welcome to this weeks inspiration monday (on tuesday ;) LOL)
I have been busy playing with my shimmering acrylic paint and the beautiful butterfly stamp-set "colorful companions" by my Stamp BOX.
So while I'm waiting for summer, looking out on the snow (yes, more snow today :-/ ) I had so much fun doing this little project.
Hope to make you feel inspired to grab your stamps and acrylic paint too :)

For this LO I used a round scallop-edged eggshell colored cardstock.
Butterfly stamps by my Stamp BOX
patterned paper "på vingene" by 3ndypapir
shimmering acrylic paint by PeBeo
buttons
Alphabet stickers by sassafras
My tattered angels glimmermist "golden terracotta" and Tiger lily"
hole punch
black pen

I grabbed my stamps and my acrylic paint.
Used a sponge to add paint to my stamp.
I started out stamping the image several times on the cardstock, using my shimmering orange paint.
I used different butterfy images, and used some red shimmering paint along with the orange on some of them.
This will make the back ground pattern for my layout.

After I finished stamping all my butterflies I pulled out the glimmermist. I opened the bottle and "splashed" drops of glimmermist on to the cardstock with the back of the spritzer.
I used my Tiger Lily" and "golden terracotta" mists for this to add different drops of color.
Let the cardstock dry

While the cardstock with paint and glimmermist dried I wanted to cut out two circles of patterned paper. I used 3ndypapir "på vingene" for my circles.
drawed around a medium sized plate to make a perfect circle.

Cut out two circles using my scissor.
Now it is time to add the picture and the circles to the cardstock.

Added Buttons and the Sassafras letters for my title.

Now I wanted to punch holes all along the beautiful scalloped edge of the layout.
I used my crop-a-dile for this, but you can use any hole-punch.
Added a tiny black border along the scalloped edge and journaling with my favourite black pen.

Voila!
Hope you feel inspired!
And Thanks for popping by!!
have a wonderful day.

flower inspiration

Hi my friends. Hope you are all fine.
Finally spring starts to settle for real here and flowers peek up everywhere.
I SO love this time of year! :)
I LOVE flowers, they always seems to make me happy. And after my post on how to made the bouquet I showed at the Hellerud scrapbooking and rubberstamp show Iwas SO, SO inspired by Wenche and her BEAUTIFUL flowers and by the flower challenge on the cocoa Daisy spring crop, to make this little spring bouquet.
My bouquet is pretty simple - most of the work is folding all the parts of the flowers.

I have made this little tutorial on how I made the flowers using my beautiful, colorful My Little Shoebox paper. This papers are perfect for flower-folding. Heavy, doublesided paper. I used hot glue to make sure the flowers don't fall apart.
I found the tutorial on how to fold the flowers here
So, let's just get started on the flower-folding.
For this project you'll need doublesided patterned paper. I used My Little Shoebox, but you can use 3ndypapir, CosmoCricket or any of your favourite heavy Weight doublesided patterned paper.
You'll also need hot glue, metal wire, oasis (green foam to use for flower-decorations) a little flower-pot or vase, scissor and paper-trimmer.
1. I started with 5 equaly sized 2x2inch squares.
2. fold the square in half
3. fold the corners of the triangle up to the top. The triangle ill now have a square shape.
4. fold the upper corners outwards.
5. open up the flaps and flatten, like this:

6. fold down the upper edge of each flap and fold the flap back in half.
7. fold 5 equal pieces

8. glue the folded triangles together.
9. you now have one petal of your flower. Do the same to all the 5 parts of the flower.
10. glue all the petals together. Now the flower is ready.

Make as many flowers as you like in your fvourite colors.
Mine are all in spring-colors. :)
11. attach the metal wire (stem) to the back of your flower using the hot glue.

When all the flowers have stems, grab the oasis and make it fit in to the vase you have chosen for this project. I used a little silver-vase.
Add the flowers and arrange them as you wish. Add green leaves to cover the top of the oasis and little stripes of green paper to make spirals like in this project.
And because these flowers are not in need of sunlight or water this is a perfect decoration for the dark corners of your house that needs to be brightened up a bit. ;)

Hope you feel inspired!
And thank you Wenche for this wonderful idea!

have a great week you all.

Inspiration monday :)

Hi my friends, and happy monday. :)
It is beautiful spring in Oslo today. The sun is shining and the spring-flowers have started to peek out :)
I was so inspired by the spring-weather I just had to create some flowers for todays Inspiration Monday. :)
These flowers are not only cute as embellishments for papercrafts, but can be used as bookmarks for your favourite books too :)
They are made of patterned paper by 3ndypapir, felt, fabric and paperclips.

Cut strips of patterned paper, aprx 1 inch X 12 inch.
Fold the strip as a accordion.
Punch two 1 1/2 inch circles of patterned paper.
Add hot glue to one of the circles and add the accordion-folded paper-strip as a circle on top.
This is now the base of your flower.
:)

Cut out a circle of colorful fabric.
Cut out a slightly bit larger circle of heavy woolen felt.
sew a button on top of the fabric and felt circles.

MidtstillAttach the felt and fabric circles to the center of the paper flower with hot glue.
Grab the other 1 1/2 inch patterned paper-circle and the large paper clip.
Add Hot glue to the paper-circle and attach the paperclip, and add the paper-flower on top.

VOILA!
The flowery bookmark is ready for your favourite book. :)

Thanks for popping by.
Have a wonderful week.

more easter inspiration

Hi my friends!
Easter holiday have started here in Norway, wich means alot of people are on vacation, having some days off, celebrating, relaxing, being with friends and family.
Norwegian easter tradition is - amongst many things:
Mountains, outoor-activites, skiing, snow, sun, oranges, chocolate, egg, chicken...cross-words....good stories...

So I wanted to share a little easter inspiration today.
:) I LOVE to work with wool - felting and making cute chickens and hens are one of the favourites during easter.
My kids LOVE this activities too!!
The blue hen welcoming you was made this afternoon by my 14 YO son!
He was the first one to rush to the table and start felting when I started to pull out all the wool :)
All my kids, and a couple of their friends had a wonderful time around the table, making woolen stuff.
I created a little door-hanging for our front door.

For this project you'll need:
Colored wool ( I have used Nepal wool) in colors of your choice
felting needle and a foam mat to have under your project
foam-egg (I used 16 eggs) depending of the size you want yuor doorhanging to be.
Metal wire
Ribbon
Pre-made welcome-sign
(my welcome sign was bought at Kremmerhuset)
Tear off a piece of wool and wrap around your foam-egg.
Felt the wool into the foam-egg using your felting needle.
Push the needle into the foam-egg over and over again, all over the egg, to make the wool "stick" to the foam (usually the needles come with a great tutorial on how to use it)

You can make cute patterns on your eggs by simply adding other colors of wool and attach it by "stitching" it on top of your felted egg with your felting needle.

Cut a piece of metal-wire. This will make the fondation of your doorhanging.
Add one egg at a time to the metal wire.
I just pushed the wire all the way trough the foam-egg.

It will soon look like this:

Add as many egg as you desire for your doorhanging.
Put the remaining pieces of metal wire into the "next door" foamegg, and secure with some hot glue.
Add a ribbon and the welcome-sign.
:)

Have a wonderful week!
