Another day to RETHINK

Well February is coming to a close (soon, but not yet!)
We have a few more Paper Makeup Artists very first cards to share with you!

Today we have Maria Gurnsey and honorary Paper Makeup Artist (and one of our illustrators!) Shaela Odd!

First, here's Maria's very first PMS card!

First of all, i have to say that i LOVE Maria's asthetic! Her cards always make my jaw drop to the floor. One of those, man, why cant I make cards like that! In her first card she used Gus, the birthday monster. And she used a sentiment from the monster sentiments set. I love how her card is a combo of pink, brown and black! Simply fab.

For Maria remake, use used the same sketch, but changed up the look of her card. Again, i love her card and my jaw has dropped to the floor. Here she used the raindrops and rainbows set!
Look at all the little detail like the subtle stitching over the ribbon. ACK, love it!

Ok, next up....

Now Shaela has been with us from the get go. I knew i wanted her as an addition to the team before I even made the design team call! What i didnt know at the time was what a fabulous illustrator she would be for the company! She gets me. And i love that from my illustrators!
Oh right, the card... hehe. She has used one of the first PMS fairies, Lauren in Love.
And here is her remake...

This card stuns me as well! Shaela has really developed some mad coloring skills in the last year! Of course her first card was fab, but her rethink... fabULOUS. :)

Thanks so much for dropping by today!!! We always love seeing you! :)

Time to Rethink... again...

Welcome back to another wonderful day of RETHINKING your first PMS card!
Read all about our month of rethinking HERE.

Today we have 3 Paper Makeup Artists showing you their first cards and their wonderful remakes.

First is Senior Paper Makeup Artist, Tangii Crain.

Her first PMS card....
You know i'm lovin' that color combo! haha! And her little paperpieced skirt is so cute!
Tangii used Jaina Fairy, one of the very first fairies from PMS.

Now that Tangii, she's a clever one! She took her very first card for inspiration, and then took our Makeup 4 the weekends challenge (this week it's an awesome sketch, check it out HERE)
Look at how awesome this card turned out!

And next up is Paper Makeup Artist, Randee Elsing.

Here is her first PMS card...
I love that green polka dot paper, and in fact i think i have some. Randee has just inspired me!
Randee has always loved the PMS monsters. You can often find her making some GENIUS cards using the monsters in super clever ways! Here she has used Argus with Teddy.
For her remake, she has added in the use of the Monster Sentiment Set (and some awesoem stitching might i add!). And i LOVE how she added the button to the bow!

And last but certainly not least is one of our most recent FABULOUS additions to our design team, Paper Makeup Artist Christi Snow!

Here is her very first PMS card...
I love Christi's Shabby Chic style! And again.... liking this color combo! haha! Here she has actually used 3 different PMS stamps all from our very first release! The fairy is Lauren in Love who continues to be a best seller among the Beautiful Day Fairies. She also used the butterfly from Buggy Sayings and she oh so strategically only stamped the word life from the large Art is the tree of Life wordart!

Here is her rethunk card. ;)
Again.... loving hte color combo! Ok, so i like anything with grey in it! But those papers are delish! She has again used Lauren in Love but has comboed her with one of our most recent releases, Hugs and Kisses!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Please feel free to go and leave our designers some love!

Another Day to Rethink

It's time for another day to rethink!
For those that regularly follow our blog, i'm sure it's starting to get redundant explaining what
our "rethink" challenge is. Similar to how they always reintroduce the judges on tv shows like America's Next op Model, Project Runway and even American Idol.
SO - if you are confused.... check out THIS post to read all about it!

Today is Paper Makeup Artists Dawn Knight and Gabby Arriaza's turn to RETHINK their very first PMS cards!

Dawn Knight has been with us from the very beginning. One of the first "followers" of PMS and then one of the first applicants to the design team! Though she did take a short leave of absence (she had the cutest baby boy join her family!), she has always been a supporter!
Here is her first card...

Dawn always has loved the monsters! Here she is using one of our first monsters... Dreck!
Here is her remake. I think it's fantastic that she made the card for the same friend!
And dreck is now Dreckina! hahahahaha!

And next we have Gabby!
While Gabby didnt apply for the design team the first time around (shame on you gabby!) She has been a friend and supporter since the very first day!
Here is her very first card also using one of the very first releases, Lauren in Love.

I actually have the above card in my possession! Because i'm so special, Gabby sent me this card as a congrats for starting my own stamp company shortly after it all began! :)

I love how she took this lovey image, and turned it into a not just valentine's day love card! Thats the great think about love images. They really can be used all year around!

Thanks so much for tuning into our blog today! have you rethought your first card yet??

Tuesday Meet n Greet with Meli Mitchell

Hello ladies! It's time for another Meet n Greet with one of our fabulous Design Team Members!

Today we're "meeting" the wonderful Meli Mitchell!

First... here's the questions we always ask!

When did you start stamping?
I started stamping about 5 years ago. I had been into scrapbooking since Natalie was born and a friend that I scrapped with invited me to a Stampin' Up! party. I had fun and got a few sets...then that friend became a demo and I joined her stamp club. We did tons of projects and partied once a month with our stamps. It was lots 'o' fun. Now I'm a big stampin' geek.

What first drew you to PMS?
The people. I "met" Katie through the Bellaholics group and have known Christi, the DT leader, since we were in the 6th grade. I joined the PMS group over at Paper Craft Planet and just loved getting to know Katie and the people who used the stamps.

What's your favorite stamping color combo?
Anything paired with dark brown. I actually painted the rooms in my house according to Stampin' Up! colors. I took pieces of Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky and Pink Pirouette cardstock in and had them match it. I know, I'm a freak! I tend to use a lot of pink too.

What else do you like to do?
I am a total nerd. I read a lot. Jane Austen, Harry Potter series, Jackie Collins. I will read anything. I am also a huge old movie buff. Most nights you will find me curled up in my recliner with my Yorkie watching an Audrey Hepburn or Monte Clift movie. I spend a lot of time with my husband and my kids. That usually means we are on a ball field watching or playing a game. I also collect Hello Kitty. It's an obsession.

Where do you get inspiration from?
Other crafters mostly. I troll blogs a lot and will jot down things or sketches in my journal that I really like.

What's on your Ipod?
LOOOOOTS of John Mayer. When I say that, I mean I have over 500 John Mayer songs. I'm serious. My husband is constantly making fun of me because he's almost all I listen to.
I also have a lot of Prince, 80's hairband music, Lady GaGa, Enrique Iglesias, Madonna, Ne-Yo, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, Psapp, Regina Spektor, Amy Winehouse, Linkin Park, Bon Jovi, New Kids on the Block.....I just love music.

And now, Meli has been ROCKIN' PMS stamps this past week or so.  I mean, when she has to take a break (her daughter had a big birthday bash to which she gave away some fun blog candy if you might remember) she comes back with a vengeance so all of these beautiful creations are ones you havent seen yet (on this blog... hehehe)

Aren't these all just GORGEOUS?! Dont forget to go leave Meli some love on her blog!

Let's Stamp Out Alzheimer's!

So, you may notice that this post is going up at 12:01 am (or maybe it'll be 12:05! This actually isnt a prescheduled post! I'm still up!) That is because the Stampin' Out Alzheimer's event is offically started!

A bit back, I was contact by Susanna Boyd (a friend of mine, and the founder of Paper Craft Planet) and she asked if I would help and be a sponsor for a fundraising event she was hosting with Jen Tapler. I of course said that i'd love to help out! I just love Susanna! She told me all about the event, to be called Stampin' Out Alzheimers, and why she and Jen were putting it on.

Alzheimer's is the 7th leading cause of death in the United States. This was a fact that I had no idea of! 5.3 million people suffer from it including Jen Tapler's father and Susanna's grandmother. Which is just 1 of the reasons they've decided to put on this event. After letting the design team know that PMS would be a sponsor, I learned that Lisa Kind's father passed away from this disease. It is something that affects so many and at this point, there is no cure.

To become a member, go to http://www.stampinoutalzheimers.ning.com
The suggested donation is $5. Once you are a member you will have access to all kinds of fun things! There are oodles of challenges (all with prizes attached! Freebie downloads. And daily prizes given away at random. It is a 7 day event so there is a lot of time to get in on the action!

PMS is hosting a challenge called "Any Winged Thing". It's easy to play, just use "any winged thing" on your card! It can be a fairy, a butterfly, bumblebee, angel, bird, the list really is endless! Please use the tag PMSSOA in the gallery so we can easily see all the cards in one place! 1 Lucky winner will get a gift certificate of $25 to use at the PMS store!

Members of the Stampin Out Alzheimers event will also get a coupon code to the PMS website for 10% off their order. You'll just have to look for our blinkie in the sidebar to get the code. :)

There are more ways to get some PMS goodness too! There are some stamp singles in the daily give aways and our very own Lisa Kind is sponsoring a Copic Coloring Challenge that ALSO has a $25 gift certificate to the PMS store (you can buy copics, stamps, whatever your heart wants! Thanks so much Lisa!)

And of course, as always, my fabby design team stepped up to the plate to help promote this cause!

So we really hope you'll come over and say hi!!! It's such a worthy cause and bound to be a lot of fun!!!

Meet n Greet Tuesday with Shaela Odd

We're going to have a new fun thing every tuesday. It's a meet n greet. I wanted everyone to get to know each design team member... and since there are quiet a few of them... it will last many many weeks! :)

First up is Shaela Odd!!

And here's our 5 questions for Shaela...

When did you start stamping?
I first started stamping about 2 years ago. I'm more into scrapbooking and thought stamps were only for cards (although I love making cards too), but once I figured out how many AMAZING stamps and companies there are out there, I was hooked!

What first drew you to PMS?
I followed Katie around cyberspace like a sick puppy, so when she started her own company I HAD to get some stuff! Lauren in Love and Dreck sealed the deal - I've been hooked ever since!
What's your favorite color combo? Oh dear, I don't have one! I love anything that fits my mood and looks good to me at the time.

What else do you like to do?
I love to read, and I'm an avid writer and poet. I also compose songs on my piano and guitar. I love all things outdoorsy and love to rock climb - I used to compete!

Where do you get inspiration from?
Everywhere: other blogs, magazines, artwork, billboards, nature - I see everything as a jumping-off point.

What's on your ipod?
I'm a punk rocker at heart! But I love a bit of just about everything.

And here's some of Shaela's creations... some you've seen on here... some not!  :)  But they are my favorites...

I just adore how she uses quotes on cards... check these out

But quotes arent the only thing she can do... check out these babies...
