My Time Made Easy, To The Point

>> Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Well it's time to get to the point.... my post is late. haha! Sorry about that. I suddenly felt VERY under the weather last night, so i needed to just go to bed which means my post wasnt typed, pictures weren't taken, etc. I do apologize for that! I'm still not feeling 100% but i'm standing, or rather sitting and not hunched over, so thats a good thing!

Another, to the point.... it's the name of the template i've used for today!

This box is actually VERY spacious! You can fit all kinds of treats inside. I had the perfect treat, a fun colored bath fizzy.... and then in my haste to get it photo'd and all, i totally forgot about it. OY! But it does fit one of the large Lush sized bath fizzies, so it's definitely big! Of course you could always scale it down if you wanted it a bit smaller. :D

Here's a picture of the end...
You have the option of folding the tabs in or out, creating a point, or the flared end. OR, you can do both and create a darling dreidle like Lauren did in THIS POST! The cut file actually comes with everything you need to make this perfect for the Jewish Holidays!

In my project, i did add some fringed yarn in the point to make it a little more party style. :D

Be sure to check out Lauren, Tangii and Lisa today for more wonderful projects!

My Time Made Easy with some Pumpkin Pie!

>> Wednesday, November 3, 2010

It is no secret i have a mild obession with anything pumpkin. Pie... lattes.... candles.... soup..... the color... really, i love pumpkin! When I saw the Any Way You Slice it template... i knew there was just 1 thing i wanted to make... a slice of pumpkin pie!!!!

This adorable triangle box can be made into all SORTS of things. The fun thing is thinking up new ways to dress it up! (a tree, santa hat, candy corn, pie slice, cake slice, reindeer, carrot, etc etc!)

So how what did i do? First i created the template itself. I'm also mildly obsessed with my airbrush. It's just so comfy and happy in my hand. haha. I went over all the edges quickly with the YR14 copic marker... just enough to tinge the edges. I used some natural twill ribbon and ran a strip of scortape on the underside and then pleated it to create my crust. I airbrushed that a bit too so it would look cooked. I also used the twill ribbon to create other crust like features on the box. To create my whipped cream, i took some white tulle and wound it around, adhered it together on the bottom side with a large piece of scor tape. Lost my scor tape!
Thats pretty much it for the box! Super cute box that takes very little to doll up! Which is nice when gift giving is quick and often around the holidays! You can see in the above photo where the box folds into itself at the point. The whole side wall then just swings out! I probably should have taken a picture of that! Well, click HERE and you will see more detail shots of how it opens, as well as purchase it if you desire. ;)

Onto my card...
You know you love that great big pumpkin! Ok, so i know that I love that great big pumpkin!
hahahahah! Well, that my friends, is the gloriousness that is digi stamps! Last month there was a stamp set released called Spooky Surprise. It was also released as a digi! Instant download... less cost... less storage space. I do like to actually stamp now and then, but I am also a big fan of digi stamps for the reasons i already mentioned. This here is the pumpkin in the stamp set... which the stamp itself is barely over and inch by inch. Super great size for decorating your templates, tags, etc. But i wanted the pumpkin to be my main focus, so i enlarged that baby and had a LOT of fun coloring him in! Here i used copic markers, YR21, YR12, YR15, YR18.

OH i havent mentioned the paper i used yet! It's one of the new released of Pretty Printables Paper! The paper collection is called Fall Foliage. I love it!!!! If you like the patterns, well check out all the paper packs, great paper patterns in different color combos, all coordinated with the other paper patterns in the same color combos giving you the ability to mix and match your papers on your projects with ease!

Now be sure to check out Lauren, Tangii, Catherine, and Debbie's blogs as they have also used this super adorable template today!!!

My Time Made Easy February Release, day 2

>> Tuesday, February 2, 2010

And I'm back with my 2nd project for the My Time Made Easy release!!!

First let me say that my internet is hating me tonight! It wont let me on a lot of websites and blog posting is a big ol pain in the batooski! Thank goodness all the kiddos went to bed early! Don't want them hear the little wordies coming out of my mouth at my computer tonight! haha! But I really do apologize that I cant link to the specific places on the My Time Made Easy website. I'll try to get back in there tomorrow morning to link things up appropriately.

Now if you read my post yesterday, you already heard me gush about the über cuteness of the templates, stamps, digi papers, cut files, digi stamps and um, i think i caught them all! Seriously, the MTME designers have outdone themselves this month!

The template i get to show you today might possibly be my favorite paper template of all time.
I didnt realize it at first. I did think it was very cute from the start, but as i started working with it, and realized all the endless possibilities to go inside it... i am just so excited to work with it again and again! This template is called You've Got Mail and it's another mailbox, but what in the style of what i call a "blue box".

Well, i didnt make my "box" blue. :) I decided to work off of one of my favorite digi papers being released this month. This umbrella paper is available in the Loving Heart digi paper pack. So for my template i used the following colors of cardstock from Couture Cardstock...
Candied Apple (red), Nomad (yellow), Ganache (brown)

Here is a straight on view of the You've Got Mail template. I also used the You've Got Mail stamp set to embellish my box a bit. This super fun stamp set has so many opportunities for use! There is a line art mailbox (which will be super fun to color) but there is also some solid stamps to stamp inside of the line art image. So i just took those solid images and stamped them out in coordinating ink colors. I then hand cut them and matted them on brown cardstock witch thick tape underneath each layer to help them really pop!

Here is a close up of the front of the box...

For the center i used one of the stamps from the You've Got Mail stamp set. In this set there 6 different fun centers. I used the umbrella to match the paper used, but then i decided i wanted to give it just a little something extra so i handcut out one of the umbrellas from the digi paper and then added some teeeeeeny tiny pearls by Kaisercraft for the ultimate pop out.

But here is my absolutely favorite part of this template...
Look at how this opens!

It's so simple! But looks fantastic! It leaves so much room in there! My thought for this project is that this is part of the party favor for a shower and all sorts of things could be put inside... a game... some treats to eat ... some other party favor. And it closes back up as easily as it opens! With no extra closers needed.

Now here's a better view of my matching card. This card was really meant to be the invite to the shower. I kept it fairly simple, because since most invites are done in an assembly line fashion, you need something easy to mass produce.

The sentiment (that you can see even better below) is also from the You've Got Mail stamp set.
To acheive a little bit of continuity between the 2 projects (other than the paper, colors, etc) i used the same thin brown satin ribbon threaded thru a simple brown button like that is on top of the mailbox. It may be a detail no one notices, or maybe everyone will! But it's also something you could tie to the rest of your shower decorating. Think of tying the ribbon around napkin place settings and securing with a button. You could also do this around cups, etc. The little attention to details like that can help you also decorate inexpensively but with a big impact!

So thats my project! Now if only I had someone to throw a shower for! HAHAHAHA!
