One of Jack's Cards

>> Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Today i'm letting my 4 year old take over my blog. He's giving mama a break. Ok, so not really.
Most know this, but there may be a few readers that are newer to my blog, so here's my quick run down. My oldest son is 4 years old. He loves to craft with me and is very independent and adamant what he wants to do to a card or project and i do NOT get to help him! His teachers say the same thing. But at least he likes to craft with me, so i'll take what i can get!

Today, one of his friends in preschool turned 5!!!! He thought that was really impressive. My heart ached at the fact that in the spring... HE will be turning 5!!!!! WAAAAH!

Here is the card he made for his friend... other than getting out the airbrush for him... i had no part in this! (and yes, i'm crazy enough to let him use my copic airbrush... with a LOT of paper laid out on my table just in case!

He chose this alligator from a Close to My Heart stamp set because his friend "likes animals a lot". He colored him in with a G82 copic marker (he wanted to use a G28... i had to explain that it might be a little hard to see the alligator after using such a dark green, so he said ok and chose the G82). Then he cut him out. They have been practicing cutting in school and he was very pleased to cut everything out himself. Next came the airbrush. eeeeeek. This is the first time i've let him use it.

The ribbon at the top he was very pleased with as well. He is very into tying knots right now and he wanted one for his card. then he layed it across the top and said "there, now it's like one of yours". Perhaps i use ribbon a bit too much?

He added the stars in a "pattern". He said he was just going to have to have more than 5 stars even though he was turning 5 because he needed to finish the pattern. Silver Gold Silver Gold, Silver... what comes next mama? Um, Gold i say? Very good mama! Now you can have a star!
Ahhh, preschool.

Then we decided it needed a sentiment and he said just make it say happy birthday. So i pulled out the Birthday Cheer set from Paper Makeup Stamps and told him all of these say happy birthday, so he can choose. And so he did.

He was so proud of his card... he even took the picture himself and told me i could type it for him later. hahaha.

I love my kid.

One of Jack's Cards

I dont have a new project for you yet, but I have been hard at work. :)
It's getting towards the end of the month which means i've got about a week and a half of daily posts coming up! I actually love this time of daily posting and lots of projects, it just takes a bit of prep work!

BUT, my son did make a card to share with you! :)
He LOVES to color with mama's markers (yep that would be my copics). But they are so indestructable, i let him so long as he is coloring at MY table so i know where they are!
Maybe that was even a bad idea because i had dreams all night long that caps were missing and my markers were drying out. These dreams actually WOKE ME UP!
I guess i a smidgen obsessed, huh?

Ok, so here is Jack a roo's card!

he likes to pick scraps out from my scrap drawers to make his cards. And i save even the most onnoxious scraps, like this one that i just the circle out with a nestie. I figured it might make a good mat sometime? So no, he didnt cut his stamped image out, he gave it a frame. haha.
He also quite enjoys creating confetti with the decorative edge scissors (i think i'm posted about that before). So all those bits are glued on there and the whole card HAD to be BLUE since it's his "favorite color like the ocean!".

so thats all i got for today! more to share very sooooooon!

well i was going to be crafty.

Well, i had every intention of being crafty and making some fun things while my hubby was out of town this weekend. But i felt pretty yucky after the wedding i worked yesterday. I colored a bella and then said i'd finish tomorrow (today). But then i woke up at 4 am thinking that i was going to DIE! I had to wait until a friend could come and watch the kiddos (THANK YOU LISA!) and then i went to an emergency doc. Turns out i have a kidney stone. Not fun. AND i've tried and tried and tried to get ahold of my husband to get him to come home early and his cell goes straight to voice mail. So we're all watching movies today and i'm going to post a card that jack made for his teacher a bit back.

Here's the story...
One day in my craft room jack was searching for something. I told him he needed to stay out of mama's things. His reply was "but i NEEEEEEEEEED a flower for my card for Ms Jill!" i wasnt aware he was making a card for Ms Jill. So i said, ok, pick out 1 flower. So he did. Then we went thru our normal routine. He went thru my scrap bin and picked out his paper. Then he picked out a stamp and some ink. He said it needed to be all pink for ms jill but got very frustrated when his pink ink wouldnt show up. so he picked purple. I put sticky tabs on the back of everything and then he layered it all together. Mind you he'll be 3 in a month. But i love it when he decides to make cards.

Ok, i'm going back to laying down (dont worry, i'm sitting on the couch as i write this anyway)
