PMS Digi Makeover Challenge

>> Monday, July 23, 2012

What is YOUR favorite holiday?  Well making a card for your favorite holiday is exactly what we were challenged with for this week's Digi Makeover challenge at PMS.

I had a hard time deciding what my favorite holiday is!  haha!  I guess i just love to celebrate.  I love to decorate.  I love the excuse to wear silly socks, eat candy and cookies.  I like to act like a kid.
Birthdays, Christmas even valentine's day and halloween.  All fun!

but then i really started to think... ok.. if i had to narrow it down to one... whats my favorite.
Then I got a little sappy, and thought about my kiddos (who are currently in another state, visiting my parents for a week) and i thought... ya know... i just really love being around family at Christmas time.
I really love the surprise and excitement over the entire christmas holiday.  not because of the gifts you get (honestly, i like to give them more than I like to get them) but just the warmth and love of Christmas.  So obviously... i need to make a christmas card.
Then i remembered a PMS stamp... it's one of my favorite movie lines of all time.
I knew exactly what to do for my card.  :D

I used the What If Christmas along with one of the images from the Framed set.
I love digis because i was able to make these work perfectly with each other!  :D

Be sure to check out the company blog for more samples BUT also make sure to come back tomorrow (I know, 2 posts in a ROW) but i have a very very special post about someone near and dear to my heart and a NEW digi set being released just for her!!!  You won't want to miss it!

Copic Creations Challenge with Just Rite Stamps

>> Wednesday, December 15, 2010

It's the last copic creations challenge of the year and oh man is this one a good one!
I know everyone is busy busy busy with holidays things, kids winter programs at school, card sending, present making, shopping, oh it goes on and on but i hope you take the time to check out the Copic Creations challenge. The prize is an ENTIRE set of Copic Spica Pens as well as some stamp goodies from this week's sponsor, Just Rite Stamps!

Just Rite generously donated some of their new holiday releases for the Copic Creations team to work with. I chose the Vintage Christmas Set. MAN, they are BIG! I had no idea until i get them in the mail but i was absolutely giddy when i saw them! A big bonus is that Just Rite is having a holiday sale and this set is only 12.71!

So while my original plan was to make a card using the way cool vintage santa image... as I looked at the pretty stamps with the separate border around them, i thought, this is PERFECT for an ornament! I like to make a few ornaments every year and this year I havent gotten around to it with all the ickies in our house so this was just perfect!!! This is what came up with! It's a double sided ornament... the center dangles on a piece of clear thread so that it spins. Kinda fun... veeeeeeery hard to get it to stay still for a picture! ahahahaha!

And now for some detail shots of each cause I know it's a little hard to catch in the above shots.
First let me say that the challenge this week with copics is to make things Sparkle! (hence why the Copic Spica Pens are part of the give away!). Ok, so the other challenge is to get all that sparkle photographed, but man does it look pretty in person! I totally heart my copic spica pens!

Here's a look at my snowman... I lined every thing with the copic spica pens (black for his hat, lipstick for the hat band and scarf, clear all over him... then i went a little nuts and spritzed him with some smooch spritz and well, thats pretty much all that photographed! but outlining every thing in spica pen turned out really pretty!

Here's a close up shot of Mr. Snowman, not angled at the light!
Here you can see the liquid pearls i used on the snowflakes and snow on his hat.

Colors Used: Boo, B000 and B000 for the snow man... a smidgen of C2 was used in areas of shadow. His hat and coal bits are C9, C7, C5, C3 and his hat band and scark are R59. R29 R24

And now for Mr. Clause... first the shimmer shot... basically the same MO as the snowman except instead of liquid pearl accents, i used silver stickles in his eye reflection to give that Santa Glint. His glasses were colored with a gold spica pen. And yes, i went smooch spritz crazy and i couldnt hold the ornament still to save my life so it's all a little blurry. Sorry.
And now for a better version...
Ok, this one is a little blurry too but that was a photography mistake. I'm still learning the ins and outs of my new camera. haha. Absolutely NON of the shimmer showed up here, but you can see the glint in his eye from the stickles! :D

Now be sure to go to the copic creations blog, check out the other team members creations and get yourself entered to win this AWESOME prize!!!

December PMS Fan Blog Hop

>> Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Well, my night hasnt gone as planned. My sweet little 2 year old threw up all over me! SO needless to say we've been snuggled on the couch (don't worry, we changed!) Now i'm making my post just in time for the hop, but you'll have to forgive my post for being brief (i can hear those of you breathing a sigh of relief!)

You should have just come here from the PMS Blog which gives you most of the info you need... so i wont be redundant. If you havent read that post yet, you may want to!

For the December Fan Blog Hop, we are all making holiday or winter-ie cards! Thank goodness i've had my card done (what a nightmare that might have been!) I used the image I colored in the video tutorial i posted the other day (scroll down thru my posts if you missed it)

Here is my card...

I used Moody for Holly which is from the last release from PMS. The Happy Holidays sentiment is from a release last year called Season's Greetings.

And now if you are planning on doing the hop in order, you'll be hopping to my mama, Carma Shawger!
I adore that my mom has been bitten by the crafting bug and we can share this mad obsession together! It's so much fun!

Just in case, here is the hop order...

Have a wonderful day!

You know you've grown up...

>> Wednesday, November 10, 2010

The above sentiment reads "You know you've grown up when what you want for Christmas can't be found in a store". This is one of the newest releases from Paper Makeup Stamps. When i came across this sentiment one day, i just knew i had to have it in stamp form. Lucky thing about owning your own stamp company, you can make that happen. haha.

Also being released as a single is the Celest Fairy. You may remember her from the Celestial Possibilities card kit. Well now you can get her as a single image as well. I think she works great for holiday cards but is also good for cards all year around. The funny thing is i still colored here in aquas like the card kit. But i added grey this time, and colored her hair orange... doesnt that count for something?

For my background paper, i created it just using photoshop and layering the phrase Peace for the World. Because afterall... thats the one thing i think is the most important. One day, i hope we {the world} gets there!

There are more samples of the latest release over on the PMS company blog today!
Check them out!

Chrismtas Cards Made Easy

>> Monday, November 1, 2010

Note: I have 2 posts scheduled for today. If you are looking for my Copic Creations post, please scroll down.

It's November 1st which means 1, the My Time Made Easy release is live and ready for purchase online! You can see all the fabulous new products HERE.
And 2, it's time for a MTME design team group post! Today we are all showing you chrismtas cards that you can made quickly and easily!

I opted to utilize many of the new cut files that are being released today and created 4 chrismtas cards with NO STAMPING! GAAAASP.... i know. hehe. I will likely stamp the inside when i've determined what I will use each card for. But as they are now, they can go on gifts, or be mailed out as christmas cards!

Here is my set...

To create my cards, i used 4 different Trendy Tags. There are actually 6 being released!
These tags are so fun! I love the design of them, and at $1.50 each, they are SUPER affordable!
Each tag set comes with 3 cut files. These enables you to have a 2 layers inside the tag that fit perfectly without having to mess with resizing. On each of my cards i have used 1 of the layers, but not the additional inside layer (sometimes it's a perfectly sized oval, other times a rectangle, etc). The 3rd layer is perfect if you are stamping inside, adding a to from, or any other message. I omited this step because i wanted to play with just SOME of the other new fun cut files! Here are the details for each card...

This one is my favorite out of the bunch! I used Trendy Tag 1, along with paper from the Taylor's Teeth Candied Thislestalk paper pack (which i also used another paper from this collection on my star box the other day.
Then I cut the Perfect Poinestia. I LOVE how this layers together! And it was SO easy! I loaded it inso SCAL, click cut and was done! I did want to add some dimension to the petals so i used my copic airbrush to quickly get the center and outside corners. It took maybe an additional 20 seconds!

Next up.... I used Trendy Tag 2. I love this tag too. I should have mentioned before... i found the best place to score on each tag which was usually at the "in" point of a scallop or bubble. You can see it clearly in this photo. I scored both sides and then adhered the smaller portion top and bottom together to create an edge to the card.
My paper on this card comes from the new paper collection being released called Timeless Tradition. Yep, i love it. All of these papers can be used christmas after christmas!
For the Holly, i used the Holly Day Accents! Again, i airbrushed the edges and flicked my copic marker up the center to create a vein.
Onto card number 3. For this one i used Trendy Tag 4.
Again I used paper from the Timeless Tradion paper pack, but this time i decided to pull from the more faint pink in the paper pattern and create a pink rosette using the Rosey Posey Rosette cut file! Oh my word... i've always been impressed when others do this... i had no idea it was so easy! I think i'll do this more often!!!!
I added a button on top just because i did want my card to stay quick and easy, but a bow would have been nice as well. Or any other embellishment, a cut stamp image maybe?

Last but not least! Card 4! For this one i used trendy tag number 3.
Again I used paper from the Timeless Tradition paper pack and this time for my center rosette, i used the cut that had the more zigzag edge rather than the scalloped edge (they both come with the same cut file purchase). Now i will say before you think you can just cut your own... these are the perfect length to create this rosette! I am in love with how easy it is with this cut file. I just cant get over it! haha!

Ok, now that this post is about a half a mile long... let me escort you on your way to the other fabulous design team members....

Have a wonderful day!!!!

PMS Blog Hop!

>> Monday, December 7, 2009

If you have hopped here from Randee's blog... you are on the right track! If you have just come along my blog by chance, today is the day of the December Paper Makeup Stamps blog hop and you'll want to start at the beginning!

First things first, before i forget... my letter for you!

Can you see it? It's the letter i! I did a little google search for the letter I and found this picture. I just think it's so fun! I want to be sure to give credit where credit is due however! I did NOT take this picture! You can see this photographer's flickr page HERE.

Ok, now onto my card! I was soooooo very excited to ink Madelyn up! I just think she's beautiful! And after seeing Lisa color her wings a gorgeous glittery pink, well i just had to go out of my fairy wing coloring norm! So i decided to go gold!

I did want to make my card a christmas-ie card, though Madelyn herself isnt necessarily a christmas stamp. So i chose red and green to color her dress. Then i went to my christmas paper collection and discovered... i dont HAVE a christmas paper collection! Truly i dont! I had less than 5 sheets of paper and it was all from the Basic Grey Blitzen collection. I'm not sure why i dont own any christmas paper! So i was puzzled and had to think outside the box. I had this gorgeous paper my friend Kelly gave me umpteen million years ago that i've been hoarding. It's pretty script writing is all about angels. But still, the card needed a little more color. Thats when i had the idea to create the window. Looking back, it would have been more approriate to create a star somehow instead of a moon. It definitely would have fit the christmas spirit a little better. Oh well. I airbrushed with the cardstock still inside the nestie and then after removing the cardstock i went along the edge (the white part that was left) with a brown copic marker (specifically E37) to make it look a little more "window-like". I carefully cut out the colored fairy (color first, then cut out!) and glued her onto my created scene. Oh wait, I put a strip of brown cardstock down first so she'd had a floor. then i glue her on top. teehee.

Here is a more close up view...

If you'd like to read onto "the deets" feel free! But for those not interested, hop along to Dawn, for your next little piece of inspiration!

A little mojo for your weekend

>> Saturday, November 21, 2009

Well it's no secret i'm in love with Julee's sketches for mojo mondays. My new goal is to do the mojo challenge each week. Ok, so that was my goal starting this month and i think i've done 2. hahaha. Well, in my defense, the middle of this month got a little rough on me.

In any case, i have a fun card to share with you using this week's mojo sketch...

My tree image is one that I used to teach my copic club class at Funkie Munkie this month. I taught about the cone shape, how it relates to images we color often and then in addition, how to add a little more shape to a cone. For this this example, we took the shape of a cone for the pine tree, but then by using some shading of copic markers, helped to make the branches stand out. It was a super fun class! And now since i have about 6 trees colored in, i figured, why not work on some christmas cards! :)

Here's my card...

I used the Christmas in the Air set by Verve Stamps. As you may see if you clickie on that link there, that the tree in the set is a very 2 dimensional tree. It's fantastic for paper piecing (which is the next thing i plan to do with it!!!) but I wanted to show everyone in the class how you can really make a 2d image stand out with a little shading. I was very pleased with the outcome!

I used various snowflakes from the set (there are 5 different sizes!) to create other aspects of my card, like background paper, etc. And i outlined everything with a spica pen which you can kinda see in this picture...

Well, thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!
