Back to School & Other News (Photo Heavy)

Isaac went back to school yesterday…I can’t believe how grown up he looks in his uniform, he is now in year 2, lots of hard work and homework, not sure who is dreading that more….erm me I think!!And here he is with a cheesy grin and a big one from Martha to match!

SDC11462

I’ve managed to do some stitching over the past couple of weeks (we’ve had a few drama’s but I will tell you that later). Firstly my progress on CCN “Little Ballerinas which is part of Martha’s birthday present, it’s such an easy stitch and the colours are so girlie!!

SDC11481  I have also managed to keep up with my LHN Monthly Ornie…this months is so far my favourite…”Peppermint Twist”

SDC11473 I just love the sweet candy cane button….so cute!!SDC11474 SDC11476

LHN “Peppermint Twist”

Finished as a hanging ornament with ric-rac and bead trim

Mark and I took the children to the park at the weekend and for a walk along the riverside ( I unfortunately was eaten alive :0()

SDC11454 SDC11448 SDC11450 SDC11452

I won’t bore you all with the little dramas, but the nasty horrible one…for about 2 weeks I had been hearing noises above my living room ceiling…I thought it was birds, then the noise became scratching, the next door neighbours have a house full of cats and kittens so I thought it must be them…but alas no, the noise got worse until one evening there was squeaking and scratching under the new boxed in with tongue and groove bath…the noise went on all night, running around under the floorboards all under the bedrooms, as you can imagine I was so freaked out. I called the council the next day who very nicely (as I have an infant) sent out the pest control that day…10 blocks of bait into holes under the bath and holes in the airing cupboard…”if you still hear noises in 7 days call again” he man told me. So several sleepless nights later…due to night time rodent activity I called the council again, he man came out again and laid some more. He told me that they go a bit crazy after 4-5 days…thank goodness he warned me, it sounded like an all night rave for a couple of nights, then on night 7….SILENCE….and it’s been silent for a week now. They are not sure whether it was mice or rats, but by the amount of bait they laid and the noise they think it may have been the larger of the two…brrrrrr!! My next door but one neighbour had a problem with one about 4 months ago under her stairs…all the houses in the block (4) are linked, but we think we know where they have come from…the house in the middle of us both is not know for it’s cleanliness….they have a problem with clearing their rubbish..so maybe that could be it. We hopefully have solved the problem for future have a go rats…expanding foam…it’s now under the floorboards in the bathroom and airing cupboard!!

No more scary stories now…I promise!!

Have a great weekend all!

I am almost on track now with these ornaments…I will kit the next one up…I am trying to decide how I will display all these pretties as I will have no room left on my tree as it was full last year!

Isaac and Martha have had fun colouring today..I spent what seems like an age sharpening pencils…lol.

I am going to start a new rotation as I have Christmas presents to work on as well as all my other stitching…a stitcher’s life is certainly never boring!!

Catching Up…

Finally I am back on track with my Stitcher’s Showcase “Cheryl” SAL…it had fallen by the wayside, but following a week of stitching on it…I am now back on track for completion by the end of the year…(please excuse the crumpled fabric)

SDC11386

32c Murano fabric in “Vanilla”

Polstitches Dragon Floss in “Precious”

I have almost completed another LHN Ornie “Merry Skater” I will put the final stitches into that after lunch, I then have two to make up into ornies :0)

I have made a start on making my Christmas gifts….I can’t say what so you will have to wait…lol!!

Isaac’s last day of the school year today so he went with arms full of gifts for this teacher and assistants…I think they are watching a DVD after lunch today so no schoolwork…he is sure to come home with lots of pictures etc which he has made throughout the year for me to display!!

Hopefully the weather will be good this weekend as I have some gardening to do..I am still waiting for the trees to be removed so it limits what I can do, but as long as I manage to keep the grass cut and the weeds down then that is a good job done.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

This “n” That

No stitchy pics to show you today, I have finished stitching LHN “Winter Sheep and need to finish it up as an ornie, I have also been stitching and finishing my final PIF which will be on it’s way to Gaynor in the next day or so!! I made a start on CCN “Little Ballerina’s” last night and ending up frogging it all as I miscounted…grrrr…so I will start that again today.

I have had a man free and child free weekend, Mark has gone on holiday with his family for the week, we were invited but I refuse to take Isaac out of school during term time…education I feel is too important. The children are at their Daddy’s so I have had lots of “me” time. I had to do a good dust and vacuum through yesterday morning as I have had the council in doing lots of repairs so lots of dust and mess…I got a new fire and surround…

SDC11338 also the “artwork” mentioned in my previous post which was all cleaned away, the internal doors were replaced and they measured up for my new front door as the other one also has “artwork” on it. The tree surgeon is coming this week to remove the dead conifers and cut the rest to a manageable level, then the new fencing can go up and they also need to remove all the rubbish from behind the trees'…finally things are moving!

I took a few pictures of my pots for you to see….

SDC11337 SDC11335 SDC11336

I can’t wait for those fuchsia buds to open…I chose a purple and pink fuchsia…my 2 favourite colours :0)

I will take more photo’s when they flower for you to see..

Off to do some stitching now I think..

Snowy Pines & Rose Cottage

Here is my completed “Snowy Pines”  for the LHN Ornie SAL blog, which I loved stitching, it is stitched on 32c Murano Cream with DMC threads. I finished it with brown and green checked fabric to back and brown ribbon and metal buttons….only 2 more to go to catch up!!

SDC11324

I sent a PIF to Chrizette in South Africa over a month ago and she has still not received it, I fear it has got mislaid in the World Cup fever over there…so I am going to show you pictures of it and if it hasn’t arrived with her by mid July I will stitch her another piece.

SDC11246

It is a freebie design by Cathy Roy stitched on 28c Jobelan in Baby Pink with Crescent Colours and GAST threads. I backed it with the rosebud fabric shown in the photo and edged it with a pink trim.

SDC11242

Thank you to everyone who has messaged me to purchase or trade my items in the previous post…there are still a few items left if you are interested :0).

Not too much been going on here, mainly DIY stuff and gardening, the wood cladding is almost done in the bathroom, then the painting and papering can be done. Then the living room to decorate…I will post pictures for you as each room is complete.

I have managed to stitch most evenings…especially as I am not a football fan so my DVD collection has been dusted off and is being watched…lol I am almost finished on the BBD “Their Song” but I have run out of 2 threads to complete it so I have just placed a small order for those, 2 replacement DMC threads and some fabric which I needed from Sew and So, they are usually very quick so I would imagine in will be with me by Wednesday.I am going to kit up my next 2 LHN ornie’s after lunch then I am almost caught up on those. I also need to do some work on my Cheryl SAL piece I am 25% complete on it and should be half way through it by now…to many things and too little time unfortunately for us stitchers.

Just a couple of recent photos of Martha for you to see…SDC11317 SDC11322

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my posts, I do appreciate it so much!

Red House Finished

SDC11310

Here is my finished “Red House in Winter”, for the LHN Ornament SAL. I loved stitching this design, I think it is my favourite so far. It is stitched on 32c Murano fabric with DMC threads and I backed it with red “christmassy” fabric and finished it with ribbon hanger fixed by buttons. For the house I used DMC variegated thread.

I will post a life update very soon, as always it is hectic here…my blog reader has about 600 posts for me to catch up on too…argh…where does the time go…

Finishes & Filey!!(Photo Heavy)

I managed to finally complete and finish up some smalls last week as Isaac was off school poorly all week, he developed a viral infection which caused him sickness and diarrhoea, painful legs and a red rash all over his face…he was very tired for 3 days, the last 2 he felt ok in himself but unfortunately his tummy was still upset. He is back to full form now though…just in time for half-term!!SDC11296

My first finish was LHN “Pear Tree” which I stitched in the recommended DMC threads on 32 Murano fabric in “Ivory”, I backed it in a contrasting checked fabric and trimmed it with a bought braid.

SDC11294

My second finish is the 3rd of the LHN Ornie series “He’s A Flake”, which is again stitched in the recommended DMC threads on 28c Jobelan in “Bay Leaf”, backed with Christmas fabric and edged with a metallic braid. I have got slightly behind with this SAL due to the house move and illnesses but I am now half way through number 4.

SDC11289

I have stitched and finished this piece for Isaac’s teacher for her end of year gift…slightly early but at least I know it’s all completed in time for the end of school. It’s “best Friends” by Lizzie*Kate, stitched on 28c French Linen in “Cashmere” using Vikki Clayton silks, finished as a pinkeep.

I have 3 other finishes too, but unfortunately cannot reveal them at the moment as 2 re for exchanges and 1 is for a PIF, but I will reveal them as soon as I can.

We had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday was spent at the Designer Outlet, buying some new shoes for Miss Martha. Sunday we headed off to Knaresborough and Harrogate which was lovely, Isaac got a toy car, Martha a little fluffy pig (she loves piggies!), Mummy a handbag from TK Max a bargain at £12 (original RRP £50!!), I also managed to pick up a sleeping/grobag for Martha as he current one is too small so I was delighted.

Yesterday we headed to Filey for the day along with my parents and neices, it was very warm and blowy…a little decieving as I have a burnt nose, chest area and arms, Mark looks like Rudolf and even Martha and Isaac have rosy cheeks and nose :0)

Hope you all had a great weekend and enjoy the half-term break!!

Birthdays,Walking,Decorating & Some Stitching

It seems like an age since I last blogged but this have been hectic here as always and I just haven’t had the time to get on the pc much apart from emailing checking!! Plus I have been a bit under the weather..unfortunately one of the wounds on my back where I had a mole removed developed a nasty infection and I have been on the hugest strongest penicillin..they made me feel quite rotten. But it’s all cleared up now so I am back to fighting fit!

Isaac celebrated his 6th Birthday at the end of April and had a good day and received lots of presents: a scooter, DVDs, Ds Games, books, a globe, clothes and a special day out at the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, as he wasn’t having a party I decided this would be a nice day out for him and 2 of his friends. He is going to wait until the weather improves so we can spend a lovely day out having a picnic on the moors…it’s just too darn cold at the moment…I am sat here with a big wooly cardi on to try to keep warm.

SDC11247

SDC11249 Walking…..well finally Miss Martha is up and off she started walking 2 weekends ago and there is now no stopping her…along with the walking came the non stop talking she is such a chatty little girl, she is 18 months old on 21st May..where does the time go…unbelievable really.

Mark and I have been busy each weekend wallpaper stripping and preparing the bathroom, this weekend as the kids were at their Dad’s we really cracked on with the tongue and groove cladding for the bathroom walls, I have to say I was a dab hand with the power tools this weekend, I mastered the art of a jigsaw and palm sander quite well…lol!!

Next weekend as we are not child free we aim to (weather permitting) tackle the wilderness that tries to pass as a garden!!

I have done quite a bit of stitching this past month…firstly for my lovely friend Michelle’s birthday I stitched her this needleroll..I used Carol’s Sew Blue design stitched on 28c cream Jobelan using Japanese Marblethread.SDC11226

Other stitching progress includes a small amount on my “Cheryl” SAL piece I am using 32c Murano Vanilla fabric and Dragon Floss “Precious”, it is coming along slowly.

SDC11258

Again a small amount of progress on my LHN SAL piece…I am currently 2 ornies behind where I should be so I need to get the old needle smokin’ on these too.SDC11261

I have naughtily started a new piece which I just couldn’t resist it any longer…it is Tanya’s Jane Austen “The Emma Project”, I am stitching it on Belfast Linen in Antique White using the recommended DMC threads…SDC11262

A small stitching finish to share too…this is for Isaac’s teacher for the end of the year, I need to finish it into a little hanger, this is stitched on 28c French Country Linen in Cashmere using Vikki Clayton silks. Notice the lovely gingham heart…my special friend Michelle kindly brought that back from her stitching weekend in France, which I was originally booked to go on but sadly could not attend, isn’t it delightful!!

SDC11259

Oh and finally…no Elisa blog post would be complete without a bit of CK…lol. I have had my eye on this piece for months and months…so I finally treated myself to it…it is the perfect size to put all my stitching essentials in to keep in my corner of the lounge where my stitching lamp and WIPs are housed…

SDC11263    Thanks for reading my wafflings…lol and many thanks as always for all your kind comments.

Happy Stitching

A PIF, An Exchange & A Happy Dance

Good morning on this drizzly damp Saturday, a good post day here, firstly the postman arrived with a parcel for me this morning from Chris, I had forgotten that I was one of her PIF recipients and I opened the parcel to reveal this gorgeous scissor pouch, scissors and beaded fob all in my favourite girly colour “PINK”

SDC11165

One side of the pouch has my initial and the other side a gorgeous Quaker motif, it’s finished beautifully and the scissor fob has a gorgeous bee charm. Thank you so much Chris I just love it.

SDC11164

Conny has messaged me to let me know that the replacement exchange has arrived for the Lizzie*Kate Exchange Blog.

SDC11162

This design is L*K “Spring-ily Boxer” which I stitched on “Count on Me” “Perfect Pastels Green” 28c Jubilee using the recommended DMC threads, I used my own mini heart buttons to personalise it and finished it as a long cushion with a matching green ribbon.

SDC11161

Finally my Happy Dance, I mentioned in a previous post that I had started stitching The Sweetheart Tree’s “Opalescent Heart” for my Mum as a Mother’s day gift, I finished finishing it up last night…or actually at 12.34am this morning…my eyes were boggling with the beaded edging but I wanted to complete this so I can then get on with completing my LHN “Pear Tree”

SDC11176

I stitched this piece on 28c jobelan in “Mushroom” with the recommended DMC threads using Mill Hill beads in frosted pink, metallic pink and miscellaneous pearl beads from my stash.

SDC11171

I backed it with the same fabric and used the metallic beads to edge it too…The design appeared in the GOSM June 2007.

SDC11175

I have stuck to my rotation again this week, my JN and CB SALs are coming along well, I want to complete my LHN ornie and make a start on the next one.

I have also made a start on knitting my scarf…it’s looking great, I like knitting as you can just pick it up and do a few rows when you have a spare few moments and before long you are making good progress.

A quiet weekend here…not really sure one what I am going to do really, as long as I fit in some stitching then I will be happy.

Hope you all have a great one whatever you do.

January Progress & Other Offerings

Well that was a quick month, but I am delighted in how much stitching I managed to achieve.

Here is where I am on my WIP’s

First my “Bouquet for Cheryl” piece, for the Stitchers Showcase SAL, I am so loving stitching this design and I love the thread I have chosen. I am stitching it on 32c Murano in Vanilla using Dragon Floss in Precious.

SDC11150

Secondly my Just Nan SAL piece which I am stitching with the girls over at the Stitch & Stash board, again I am loving this, it’s my first ever JN piece and certainly will not be my last, highly addictive.

2

My third SAL this year is the LHN Monthly Ornament SAL organised by Vonna, this month is “Pear Tree” and here is my progress on the second ornament.

SDC11147

I haven’t made a lot more progress on BBD “Their Song” as I have only stitched on this for one evening this month…but I have added about 3 small motifs..

SDC11154

I have been doing some smalls stitching too, firstly a re-stitch for an exchange piece which I posted on the 9th January which has disappeared in the postal Bermuda triangle, so I cannot show this. Secondly I am also doing another repeat stitch on the “Sweetheart Tree’s Opalescent Heart” which I stitched for myself about a year ago, my Mum has always admired it, so I have decided to stitch this for her for Mothering Sunday.

SDC11155I have started knitting again, I started with dishcloths to get myself back into practice and when I went to Helmsley last Saturday I found a little wool shop so couldn’t resist in a little purchase…these bargains were only 50p a ball…perfect for a scarf I thought. :)

Then I found these lovely colours in Boyes on Friday…something for Martha I think will be made from these…

I didn’t have a bag for my knitting, so I decided to put one of my Cath Kidston bags to use…

SDC11157

SDC11158 Almost done folks….lol

Thought you may like to see this picture of my monkeys…cuties eh!!

SDC11160

Well that’s all folks….as always a huge thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my waffles..much appreciated.

Have a great week
