A Fond Farewell... 2 Sketches 4 You!

I just had to enter a card for the 2 sketches 4 You ~ Fond Farewell last sketches...

I have always enjoyed Laura & Kazan creativity and I will miss their sketches so much but I am sure it takes a lot of hard work putting it all together and you are both such busy ladies.

Sadly I had a funeral to attend yesterday and so I created this card, using lots of goodies from papertrey ink. You might not be able to tell but I followed Kazan's sketch...lol! The papers are Webster's pages and I thought the colours went quite well although For the sentiment I had to mix two distress inks to get the colour I wanted. I've used natural seam binding didn't scrunch it or anything with a vintage button.

Many thanks for all the inspiration and creativity you have showered us with, you will be sadly missed by many. Good luck to you both, BiG HuGs Kim :)

Happy Birthday Jess ~ Hop to Celebrate

Jess sweetie, wishing you the
Best most Happiest Birthday...

You should have hopped here from the fabulously wonderful Kelly, if not, the full blog hop list is on Club Anya & Friends Blog. We got together today to celebrate the birthday of a very special lady and we want to express just how much we appreciate everything she does for us... so why not leave a comment on the CA&F blog to wish Jess a very happy birthday...

Here's a card I started a while ago and only got the chance to finish last night! I was inspired to try a fabric style pattern, I've heat embossed the flowers and coloured the background with copic marker and I know Jess just loves butterflies!

We also want to let everyone know that there will be a prize given to one random commenter on the CA&F blog. A prize of Creeper Monday and Creeper Wednesday is being generously offered by Marie for this occasion. YES, Marie rocks!!! You have until Sunday night at 8:00pm CST to get your comments in and Amy will announce the winner on her Monday CA&F Monday Mania blog post...

Your next stop on the birthday hop is the talented Amy.

Thanks for hopping by today, have a wonderful weekend, Hugs Kim :)

Don't Wear stripes on Screen....

Happy Father's Day to all the father's out there, hope they have a very special day :) Here's one of the father's day cards I made (you know how it is... as a cardmakers you need to make at least three to cover the father figures in the family)...

So the fabulously talented designer Betsy Veldmen has set a challenge to find a piece of men's wear that inspires you and to create a project based on that piece. I just had to have a go...

This is the shirt I picked as inspiration, the patterns are fab, but what I really love is the subtle white embroidery of flowers! I tried to mimic this with a little heat embossing...
The stripes and arglye have been stamped in distress inks and I created the sentiment based on the shirt label on the back.
 Supplies: Patterned Paper: look no patterned paper (shock); WRMK: textured cardstock;
Stamps: Papertrey Ink: father knows best; a little argyle; background basics: retro; in bloom;
Ink: Ranger distress inks: stormy sky; tumbled glass; clear embossing;
Other: Embossing powder: white; PTI: buttons; stitch tracer; 3D adhesive foam;

The colours were perfect for the PDCC #34 challenge this week and the design was inspired by Get Sketchy #43

Thanks so much for stopping by, have a wonderful day BiG HuGs Kim :)

Embellish it with Butterflies :)

Hello I wanted to quickly post this card.... I thought I had nearly missed the deadline for the wonderful colour challenge over at Embellishmagazine...

I love using my PTI stamps and when I do get the chance I generally find my cards are pretty quick to make using them... My card design is based on Mercy's fabulous sketch. I totally love building the background patterns, think the flower softens the argyle a touch. Ashley has sooo got me  into twine I think I have more varieties now then before the twine embellish issue... hahaha! The lighting is all off in my pictures... rushing to post you see!

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Basic Grey: basics kraft; PTI: cardstock;
Stamps: Papertrey Ink: butterfly dreams; sweet pea; a little argyle; background woodgrain;
Ink: Archival: black; distress inks: frayed burlap, peeled paint, black soot;
Dies: PTI: butterfly;
Other: adhesive stones, twine; 3D adhesive foam;

Wanted to mention that my artwork was not selected for exhibition in the RA Summer Exhibition.. never mind :( I will have to try harder to create something better, something to totally blow their socks off next year... tee hee!
Managed to finish 33 images coloured using copics a commission for Claire, phew! and also wanted to give a link to the pretty bag in my previous post... so thanks for stopping by HuGs Kim :)

Masculine Suit Card,

Hello I just wanted to show this card... I was asked to create one for a special friend's dad who turned 90 the other week, wow such a fantastic age...

The suit card is because he from the generation who always wear a suit, I have created the jacket to open at the button which is held together with a magnet. I have taken ALOT of pictures to try and show the different opening and the inside and the lining and the shirt. Wanted to point out that the tie is in fact a copy of a map of Ireland as he comes from there (although he had to miss his party over there due to the dust cloud!)
I have die cut the word dad which happens to fit in with the challenge over at Daring Cardmakers hee hee!!! I have stamped the houndstooth pattern directly onto the grey card with distress inks! On the inside is a fabulous PTI sentiment!

Supplies: Patterned Paper: October afternoon; K&Co; MM: Natural cardstock;
Stamps: Cornish Heritage Farm: houndstooth Scrapblock; PTI: father knows best;
Ink: printer; distress inks: Black; Dies: Sizzix: alphabet;
Other: button; tracer; 3D foam;

Thanks so much for stopping by, I must dash and get things sorted around here... because I'm off out for the evening with OH, he's taking me to the 02 to see Jeff Dunham ha ha ha he cracks me up!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend HuGs Kim :)

A Passion for Papertrey - Material Girl!

Good Morning, hope you had a wonderful weekend! This card is for A Passion for Papertrey challenge, I haven't had the chance to participate for ages!

I've had this idea in my head for ages, although originally I was thinking of fussy cutting the leaves, then thought better of it as it would take Aaaaages (as Dillon often says, LOL!!!) Then I noticed a similar aperture in a magazine... typical hey? great minds think alike and all that!
I have cut the trunk of the tree out before stamping the branches and heat embossing with distress embossing powders. Then I  cut some cloudy shapes free hand to mask the background and blended some blue distress inks for a sky! I wanted it much lighter but I was a little heavy handed! LOL! The fabric part of my card is the felt grassy area! I have die cut a square in the card base so the aperture goes all the way through!

Supplies: Paper: PTI: stamper's white;
Stamps: PTI: Through the Trees;
Ink: Archival: black; Distress inks: Distress Embossing powder;
Dies: Sizzix: Tim Holtz: on the edge; Spellbinder's Nestabilities: square;
Other: Felt; ink blending tool; 3D foam;

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful happy Monday! Thank you too for your well wishes with the 'pox' LOL! Well I'm very pleased to tell you that we are over the very worst of it, their spots are drying up now, although we have to remind them to not pick (yuk!) as we don't want any little scars but I'm very proud of how well and wonderful my little angels coped, God Bless them!!! BiG HuGs Kim :)

Anya's Stamping too.... April's sneek peek

Good morning, it's another April preview over at Club Anya & Friends you might find this Anya very crafty, tee hee....

Well.... you've been asking for this little cutie since she was spotted in CHA!!! I so totally Stamping as I think we all do, tee hee.
And for this card I decided to do just that, yep noo patterned paper (I KNOW shock horror!!!) I have stamped the card base with large polka dots, and inked the edges slightly. The panel has been stamped with houndstooth backgrounder and the edges punched and embellished with some pretty adhesive stones.
I have used Tim Holtz stamps for the circles and the dots on the folded underside, my own double sided papers LOL! The butterfly is stamped and die cut also with inked edges. Seeing as I had my distress inks out on the table and loving these new colours I had to then restamp Stamping Anya onto some watercolour paper so I could paint her to co'ordinate.
If you can tell, my card is loosely based on the fabulous sketch over at Get sketchy.

Supplies: Paper: PTI: pink card; Watercolour paper;
Stamps: TGF: Stamping Anya (release 1st April); Stampers Anonymous: Tim Holtz bitty grunge;
PTI: Polka Dot Basics II; butterfly Dreams; CHF: Houndstooth background;
Ink: Archival: black; Ranger: Distress inks*;
Dies: PTI: butterfly; Martha Stewart: corner and border punch;
Other: Adhesive stones; 3D foam;

*spun sugar, victorian velvet, tumbled glass, stormy sky, antique linen, pumice stone, walnut stain, fired brick,

Thank you so much for stopping by, I know you're totally enjoying these new releases so do check out the rest of the teams fabulous creation's...

Mothers(s) Day with Embellish, card patterns, a long post

I'm so sorry for my long break between posts and not getting the chance to visit and leave you some well deserved comments... I haven't forgotten you :)...
but I have taken a bit of a break and this following week as well....I intend to schedual an occasional something or other and we have the April Anya preview coming at the end of the month. I have a few personal goals and things on my to-do list that I am excited to focus on! They are very important to me and that will require my undivided attention for a leetle while...but I'll be around as time permits...

SO... this weekend has seen some major card making LOL! Happy mother's Day to all who celebrated it on Sunday. I had a lovely day and feel very blessed :). Then on Monday was my Mum's Birthday and tomorrow the wonderful St Patrick's Day too, phew!!!
This first card covers a few challenges around this week,
Embellish magazine has a fabulous colour challenge with fabric. I had so much fun and really enjoyed creating with new materials... Firstly the fabric is the sticky back canvas mmm' wow' love this stuff it stamps so well and you can rip it and pull it and then it sticks and you can fray and ink the edges!
I even die cut it and stamped the fabulous butterfly, I de-tacked the sticky back with my dust buddy. The other bit of fabric is the brad on main image. The vase I had fun with, inking with distress ink and put a very generous layer of rock candy crackle paint! I followed Card patterns sketch prettty much as it is :)
Patterned papers: Cosmo Cricket: PTI: Kraft; PM: textured;
Stamps: PTI: Butterfly dreams; blooming button bits;
Ink: Distress inks; pallette: white;
Dies: PTI: butterfly; WRMK: corner chomper;
Other: Sticky back canvas; roak candy clear crackle paint; PTI: buttons; Offray: satin ribbon; natural thread; fabric brad; 3D foam;

This next mother's day card was for my mum and I went very vintage, the little angel cards are printed from a cd 'so cute' :). The flowers I made myself from die cutting, layering and inking the papers so they are double sided. The large button is the angel printed in black and white. I then adhered onto greyboard and cut into circle. Punched the two holes and covered with glossy accents and then it happened.....

....yes, the image completely distorted, went all over the place giving a 'blue' colour more porcelain really, which was a wonderful happy accident (love them, don't you?) I also made the box envelope to match :).

Patterned papers: K&Co; PTI: kraft;
Stamps: Joanna Sheen: Angel cd; Hero Arts: sentiment;
Ink: Distress inks; archival: black;
Dies: Sizzix: flower daisies; circles; border punch;
Other: Greyboard; glossy accents; Offray: satin ribbon; lace; 3D foam;

Thank you so much for stopping by, now if you get the chance tomorrow I have set a fun challenge for Club Anya so hope you will come and see!!! BiG HuGs, Kim :)
