Sympathy Card ~ Paperbabe Stamps Challenge

Hello and welcome,
The final days of summer holidays...
and getting ready for the new academic year?

We have a new challenge over on the Paperbabe Stamps blog today...
I've created a sympathy card using the cherry blossom, and Butterfly Pieridae, adding a subtle colour in the background with a hint of blue copic marker to highlight the flowers.
The tone on tone Die cut letters I thought would be just enough of a message.

Old Wives' Tale ~ Simon Says Stamp and Show

Good Morning!!! It's Monday!!! which means, we have a new theme at...

Old Wives' Tale
I had trouble choosing just one Old Wives' Tale but decided to use salt as my theme...

The following old wives' tales should be taken with a pinch of salt.(tee hee)
Bad luck will follow the spilling of salt unless a pinch is thrown over the left shoulder into the face of the devil waiting there.
Put salt on the doorstep of a new house and no evil can enter.
Salty soup is a sign that the cook is in love.
Salt last forever and never spoils.

The Background has been treated with salt sprinkled onto distress stains to create a texture similar to watercolour effect. The bird image is stamped in coffee archival, the bird's have a little salt glued to give a subtle shimmer.

For the bird cage I've been eager to try some salt embossing and applied distress inks to enhance.

The tattered flower was cut from distress Coredinations cardstock, with a sculpture flower centre.

You can find the other goodies on this card at...

Photobucket
Hope it inspires and why not pop round to the rest of the team's inspiring projects!!!

A Fond Farewell... 2 Sketches 4 You!

I just had to enter a card for the 2 sketches 4 You ~ Fond Farewell last sketches...

I have always enjoyed Laura & Kazan creativity and I will miss their sketches so much but I am sure it takes a lot of hard work putting it all together and you are both such busy ladies.

Sadly I had a funeral to attend yesterday and so I created this card, using lots of goodies from papertrey ink. You might not be able to tell but I followed Kazan's sketch...lol! The papers are Webster's pages and I thought the colours went quite well although For the sentiment I had to mix two distress inks to get the colour I wanted. I've used natural seam binding didn't scrunch it or anything with a vintage button.

Many thanks for all the inspiration and creativity you have showered us with, you will be sadly missed by many. Good luck to you both, BiG HuGs Kim :)

ICSketches #35 ~ Praying for you

It's Tuesday and time for my design team card for Inspirational Card Sketches...

Well, Dawn has designed a fantastic sketch as always! Hope you have a look at the other design teams fantastic makes!
I'm afraid I needed to make a sympathy card for a teacher who recently passed at Dillon's school. God Bless.
I couldn't wait to use these digi papers and went for a floral vintage look. I stamped the frame and sentiment on card, cut out and distressed the edges slightly. I've added a selection of gems around the decorative frame.
Mini sewing machine came out again for a little stitching on the base papers. The embellishments have been hand made from air dry clay (love this stuff) I used a little glossy accents to give good adhesion.

Sympathy Poppy and an award

I've been meaning to post this for a while, think it's safely arrived at the recipient now....

It was a while ago that I made this and I think I used a sketch from CPS, just need to check... yes cps 90 found here. This PTI stamp set is beautiful, I loved creating the floral image from different layers of ink! I cut one of the stamped poppies out and raised on 3d foam. The base card is finished with faux stitching, and the sentiment is Quickutz stamp that I've trimmed around!

Materials:
Paper: BG - Boxer, MM - Naturals,
Dis:
Nestabilities rectangles, butterfly punch,
Stamps: PTI -
Out on a limb - Messages, Remember, Quickutz frame,
Ink: Versamark, Colourbox Q's, Versafine black,
Other: Glossy accents, adhesive pearls, paper lace, 3D foam,

Also, I really need to say I have been honoured with another award. Thanks so much Clare go check out her blog now!

The rules of accepting this award are:-

You have to give it to 5 others and link to those people as well as who gave it to you.
Those 5 shall also pass it on to another 5 people.
Plus you have to write down 5 things you are addicted too.

I shall try and think of 5 addictions...

1. Paper, now you may think yeah we all are, but really I have a HUGE bookcase dedicated to paper, before crafting I drew a LOT and all the paper I had was blank, then I discovered Decorative delicious patterned paper there's NO stopping me, in the three years I have been card making I have accumulated thousands of sheets! (shame!)

2. Tea, you will no doubt always find me with a cuppa, normally mummy temperature cos there's always something to do!

3. Blurfing, I spend so much time looking at all the fantastic talent I forget the time and get a numb bum, then realise I haven't done half the stuff I planned to do, (my now fiance would say I like to BLOG)
4. Like Clare I'm addicted to buying craft mags. Every month I say to myself - that's it, no more. I already subscribe to three and never really make anything from them, I just love to look over them. Then the next month comes around and I end up buying every one in case it might have something nice in it! Would hate to miss anything! Must cost me a real fortune but I do keep them and reread when not blurfing.
5. I'm quite partial to jacobs crackers, It has to be JACOBS, with either cheese, peanut butter or just butter!

Nearly forgot to pass this award onto five other fabulous blogs... They have to be my New teams mates from the Basic Grey challenges, I realise there's eight of us but I also know that a few of you have already been awarded fabulousness so accept this with love!

2 Sketches, Laura's 10

This is a little different for me, I went a bit out of my comfort zone and purchased this months scrapbooking kit from Studio Calico. The products are gorgeous and not what I would normally go for! And I think it will become very easy to get completely hooked! It's nice to have a little of everything and also something different!
This is a sympathy card I created using Laura's Sketch 10 over at 2sketches4you and the kit, only adding BG and PTI stamps and quite a bit of stardust! EVERYBODY needs a little sparkle!

Prayer Tree

I managed to do another dare for daring cardmakers:

DCM: Quoted by....

Jane this week has dared us all to include a quote on our card. Stamped, Computer Generated or Rub Ons it doesn't matter and choose your own style or occasion.

Using THIS sketch over on Lauren's Blog

It's a sympathy card but I think it can work for other occasions! I'm pleased with the results and it was quick to create too. Just need to know where to score the lines and that guides the stamping!
