Wearable Art!

It's been quite a day here the weather can't decide to rain or snow... Definitely an indoors day and I actually managed a little crafting time! I worked on a tag for the Tim's 12 tags of 2012 but will blog about that soon, here's a piece that I made recently which fits perfectly with Grungy Monday 37: Tim Holtz Wearable Art!

This is a neck piece I've made using Tattered florals die, still one of my all time favourites. The larger flowers have been layered, it includes a rose creation and a few swirled roses.
The layered flowers have a fringed centre.
Notice the papers mmmm, yummy ranger distress core'dinations, I have painted a sealer onto each flower petal, phew, I'm hoping it will keep the piece stronger and a little bit waterproof!
This is me wearing necklace, I have it on a chain that threads through the filigree shape.
Next is a little heart shaped brooch see two wearable art pieces...
Based on the necklace just with a different colour combination, love these colours and match distress inks perfectly.
This is a much clearer picture of the fringe centre.
And just because it's good to see here's what the back looks like, simply die cut from Tim's heart movers and shapers.

Well, I'm hoping to get a little more blog time in, frustrating that I have to download google chrome every time I want to post...

Have a wonderfully creative day,
BiG HuGs Kim :)

Love Life and Live ~ Steampunk Top Hat & Stand

It's MONDAY!!! which means, we have a new theme set at...

and this week is Anything Goes!!!

WOW my final project as member of this Awesome Team sniff sniff.
I was inspired by these Steampunk Debutante papers.

I had the idea to create a steampunk inspired top hat, using grungepaper, texture fade, cafe perfect pearls (fabulous match to the papers) and gears. The top and brim are cut using ovals nestabilities, and I simply pleated the hat into shape! I can see me making a whole lot more of these.

This is the back of the hat, wish I'd have thought to put the eyelets in before I constructed the hat ROTFL!!! but still, managed and threaded some copper coloured elastic through.

I even lined the inside with fun flock, I mixed a few colours together to get this shade!

The Small easel is the base for the hat stand adhered to a large fragment, adorned with Art Parts and memo pin embellishments, one dangly using Steampunk gears stamp.

I cut flowers from Tattered florals and 3D flowers using grungepaper and the colours were matched using distress inks. So check out the goodies at...

And then why not pop round to the rest of the team's stunning projects!!!

Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Embossing!

It's MONDAY!!! which means, we have a new theme set at...

and this week is Some Embossing!!!

I have incorporated both heat embossing and dry embossing!

The cover to my mini sketch book has been doubled distressed using Victorian velvet, aged mahogany, walnut stain and black soot distress inks. Using a gorgeous texture fade.

The leaf art part has distress stain and clear embossing powder.

The spine has been adorned with an array of different embellishments! All quite meaningful, the leaf back to my natural artist passion, the butterfly to learn to change, the pearl for keeping pure, the lock and key to unlock my skills and then imagination! Phew! far tooo deep for a Monday morning ha ha ha!

I have been holding hoarding onto these scrummy cotton rag art paper for ages it was so nice to make something I might use with them. I've used an old sizzix cheque book die, sorry not sure if you can find it now.

These embellishments are made using clear art film and Tim Holtz kraft resist card!

Then I created inked tabs along the edge using inspirational words.
So check out the goodies at...

Simon Says stamp and Show a Flourish

It's MONDAY!!! which means, we have a new theme set at...

and this week is a Flourish!!!

I've used flourishes in a few ways, some are cut from chipboard using the elegant flourishes die, then applied paint dabber.

It's a little hard to see I have stamped the swirl from Wendy Vecchi set onto the flowers, using some fabulous Glassine papers.

The frame on the card has been painted with crackle effect. The sentiment is stamped on patterned paper.

Butterflies from this set have been heat embossed onto clearly for art film.

The Maya road cameo has been painted, inked, stamped with this cute set and glossy accents to finish.
So check out the goodies at...

Simon Says Stamp and Show A Tag!

It's Monday, which means we have a new theme at...

and this week is A Tag!!!

Well, my tag started by stamping Tim's Fabulous flourishes with silver paint dabber, then lots of faded jeans distress ink applied all over.

Inspired by seeing this amazing tutorial over at THE Classroom I wanted to try making a lily, as I don't have the same supplies I used Tim's mini leaf die, looked here for inspiration then coloured using copics.

WOW... I just love that the sentiments from stuff to say fits perfectly into the mini Heart die. I've inked with distress inks and added distress stickles!

Also trimmed a few special words to fit in my bottle top embellishment, I used a gem gear in the base and filled with clear Utee using my fabulous melting pot.

Ok so the back of my tag is a bit of a mess but I have to show the Small Easel die, cut from packaging, LOVE IT, now I can make some more of my angels that can stand, woo hoo!!!

So check out the goodies at...

Hope it inspires and why not pop round to the rest of the team's stunning tags!!!

Wendy Vecchi Stylee

Good Morning!!! It's Monday, which means we have a new theme at...

In the style of Wendy Vecchi,

I had soo much fun creating this art piece with lots of Wendy Vecchi stamps... Alphabetically art, art colors life, botanical artlive and make artnature's art.

Now, I could have gone to town with Wendy's fantastic style but lets face it She so "OWNS" it!!!
What I have done it taken some of her wonderful techniques and created something a little different.

I have used Claudine Hellmuth Gesso Primer Paint to cover all the art parts, leaves, and sample pack. A bit like Wendy does with white archival ink!

Then I've stamped a whole lot of her wonderful background stamps in coffee archival because Wendy certainly encourages that one!

We all know flowers are one of Wendy's favorite things to create so I made sure to incorporate plenty into my project.

Die cut some from distress Coredinations cardstock with a gorgeous sculpture flower centre, stamped a few, punched teeny tiny ones and even some Clearly for Art whiteout. Hope you can see there's one rolled rose in whiteout and another of Wendy's dimensional roses with a background stamp in pearl dabber and coffee edges.

I wanted to create a piece that looked like it had been around for a few years, I have sanded and scuffed all the edges and generously inked with distress inks! My favourite part is the flower art part base to the body form. I used white embossing powder with the floral background stamp and it looks like lace yummy will definitely use that method again! My dimensional book page body form wouldn't be complete without a pair of wings!!!
You can find all the goodies at...

Simon Says Stamp & Show your... Ephemera

Good Morning!!! I hope you had a fabulous weekend and ready for this week's theme...

 at

is
Ephemera...
"a class of collectable items not originally intended to last for more than a short time, such as tickets, posters, postcards, or labels..."

I was inspired to create a vintage box frame, I painted the box with cranberry paint dabber first, it dries so quickly! Then I adorned the front with handmade grungepaper roses, all inked with Victorian velvet distress inks... phew!!!

So, it's was time for the box to be filled, with a collection of ephemera, a few goodies created using Tim's Pappillon stamps for the butterfly and background.

For the ticket's and the postcard, It's a little tricky to see I have also included some real dried pressed flowers. Courtesy of my mum thank you :) Then Finished it off with a shimmering of Heirloom gold. YUM!!!

Hope it inspires and why not pop round the rest of the team to see their fabulous ephemera!!!
