BasicGrey Challenge #17 ~ Happy Easter and Craft Stamper Sneak...

Yes lots in the title LOL, I realise I've been M.I.A but I haven't stopped and have been too tired to even schedule these posts so I'm merging them all together... Here goes Phew!!!

The Fantastic Martine has designed a sketch for our inspiration, this week over at Basic Grey Challenges

I'm soooo late posting my card, I made this card for a young girls twenty first birthday, let’s hope she likes it! I didn't have a girly image to suit so I went for this digi image from Mo manning. The image is so adorable and she's typical girly! I have coloured her with my copics (of course) and matched colours from the patterned papers. I have tried to take a close up of the spica sparkle I have covered the dress with. The image is also quite long and so I've tweaked the sketch just a little to accommodate. I also made my own little bead charm/pin behind the flower, from the wonderful goddies I won from Quixoticpaperie, thank you Elaine. I used a little glossy accents to hold the beads inplace!

 Supplies: Patterned Paper: BasicGrey: bittersweet;
Stamps: Mo's Digital Pencil; Cara Chatting; PTI: sentiment;
Ink: printer; Archival: black; Copic: markers*; spica glitter;
Dies: Sizzix: flourish; Spellbinders: tags; Nestabilities: long rectangles;  Martha Stewart: border punch;
Other: Ribbons; rose charm; Hero Arts: collage flowers; Large gem brad; beads and spacers; glossy accents; 3D foam;

 Craft Stamper Magazine, Sneak peek....

I'm in this month’s craft stamper magazine WOO HOO (thank you Katy) with a 3 ways with... 'die cuts' article and believe me three ways just isn't enough Hahaha! I think I must use die cutting for every card I make and if I haven't die cut a piece of paper in a day I think there's something I'm missing lol! I've tried to incorporate as many different ways within the three as possible. I have created stamps by die cutting in funky foam, stamped onto die cuts, I’ve die cut a mask, acetate, grunge board, grunge paper, chip board, double-sided adhesive sheet, shrink plastic oh and paper tee hee! I hope you find it enjoyable and inspiring! Click the side picture to take you to the website!

I wish you all a very special Easter, well it's finished now but I’ve had a busy, busy week, Friday was Maoleidigh's 2nd birthday and we had a day full of visitors and she had the best time! With HUGE homemade chocolate birthday cake and so many beautiful gifts which would fill another room lol! Then Saturday we went visiting for the day ourselves and had fun catching up with my sister who we haven't seen since November! It was wonderful to see her again, a bit like a wonderful Christmas day! So after a tiring day and a special Easter egg hunt planned on Sunday I knew she would be a little worn but it wasn't until after breakfast she came out in spots yes she has the chicken pox and they're everywhere, my poor little soul, on her eyelids and covering her face and all over scalp, they're also on her bottom and vagina too! It's so painful to see them spread so quickly, my brave little girl, so looks like we're staying in until nursed to recovery :)

Thanks for stopping by and Happy Easter, BiG HuGs Kim :)

Ready for The next Preview?

Good morning, today over at Club Anya & Friends you will find more April preview's...

Wow what a weekend, not only up to the Royal Academy in London on Friday (more to follow) but out all day saturday at the NEC we had a fabulous fantastic time us blogging buddies. I did buy a few yummy crafty supplies and I would have taken a picture but I was already into the packaging and playing to make this next sneek peek....

It's the second preview of The Greeting Farm's new April releases, Marie has designed this adorable cutie Deedee and this little beauty reminded me just a bit of my sweet angel, curly hair (check), angelic face (check), cute boots (check), so as it's Maoleidigh's birthday on Friday (Phew) and she will be two and she's a proper girly girl I have made her this little dinky handbag! It really isn't a great design, you see I thought I would be clever and add an extra pleat or two for her  rummagey little hands but then the flap of the bag just doesn't close properly... it definitely needs more work on it.

Supplies: Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket; girl friday;
Stamps: TGF: ws Deedee -(release 1st April);
Ink: memento; Copic: markers*;
Dies: Sizzix: flower layers; foliage; Spellbinders: Nestabilities: labels; butterflies; Martha Stewart: corner and border punch;
Other: coloured felt; BG: button and brads; Adhesive stones; 3D foam;

*Skin: E000, 21,13 & R20, eye's: B41, Hair: E50, 53, 35 Outfit: RV10, 23, 34, R20, G12, YG93, E50, N3 I use my colourless Blender throughout.

World Cardmaking Day weekend.... a long post

Wow are you having a very creative weekend? There are soo sooo soooo soooo many challenges and inspiration to try for, that I couldn't compete in fact I have a slightly sore head with the ideas cramming to get out so I'm controlling myself and am entering the PTI WCMD challenges I have till Tuesday which is great and I got all those fabulous stamps last month so here's challenge #1 the theme for this is Japan....

Well there's lots to spark off your creative juices with this theme... I went with a black, red and silver colour combo. I used some masking tape on the bottom edge of the card where the sentiment is stamped and continued to stamp the 'life' floral images in black ink directly onto red card, I double stamped some to give a fainter image. There are a few butterflies in there too.

So I thought I could use my new fab product 'rock candy' and give the image a lacquered furniture (you know the type I mean?) Ok this stuff does rock but I was ever so slightly impatient and did use my heat tool and I did create a few air bubbles arrrrh! I have tried to capture the crackle in the close ups, click images to enlarge. To really enhance the cracks I blended in some distress inks (of course).

So my stamped card was all bumpy and warped and I thought I had completely wasted it hmm then remembered this adhesive foam Sheet yum it adhered to the back and gives dimension AND sorts out all those lumps and bumps. Adhered onto some shiny mirri card which is glaring ever so slightly in the photo.

So the other thing that's very much Japanese has to be the origami, wow this was my first introduction to paper, yes folding, loved origami at school. I created this fan in keeping with the theme by folding it in PTI patterned paper first. then unfolded to stamp the floral image in white palette ink just so it remained in the centre. I have used a bit of glue to hold some of the folds to the back and I decided to add a big brad to secure the handle. I trimmed the original piece of patterned paper 7" square so the finished fan would fit inside the envelope.

Supplies: Patterned Paper: PTI: Bitty squares; PM: textured card; Silver mirri; Stamps: PTI: Life; Butterfly Kisses; Ink: Archival: black; Palette: fresh snow; Distress inks; Other: Tim Holtz: Rock candy; Bling ribbon slider buckle; Large brad; adhesive 3D foam sheet;
Now onto the really fun part of my Cardmaking day, OK so it's not quite a card but we had the best time making it... While Maoleidigh went down for her nap I printed of tons of paper models (can they ever decide before hand?) from this wonderful site... Canon Creative Park (I could easily make all the models)
Dillon is very competent at using real scissors, I have taught him the turning paper into the blade and cut around the image... etc etc but he sure can cut well. For the pumpkin basket I cut the face out, the circles and the handles as I like to use my knife. Dillon cut the rest. It has a magic middle that gives the impression of light on inside, fab idea. There are a selection of hats to choose from and Dillon picked the pirate, it seemed this was my part of the model to make (cheeky). He did do the eye patch but that has been misplaced.

I've included a couple of Maoleidigh as requested but these are the only non blurry ones I could manage, do they ever stand still? LOL! Sending BiG happy cardmaking HuGs Kim :)

About Time!!!!!

I signed up for the sisterhood 15 of the Blogging stampers, decided to join in the fun! So hello to my new sister's and I look forward to being inspired and hopefully inspiring some of you too!

I'm Kim, will be turning 33 at the end of this month. I have a boyfriend Steve and I am a mother of two little angels, one was just born on the 2nd April 2008.... fast asleep now so thought I would catch up with my blogging!

I have been card making & stamping for a couple of years but arty and crafty all my life. I played with paper
ever since I could chew it! (my mum would often find wrapped up parcels (of Paper) while tidying my room as child!) the beginnings of my love of origami. I love to draw, (there is a link to a few drawings in the labels section!) Really enjoy die cuts and have yet to share my creations with my craft robo!

Thanks so much for stopping by BiG HuGs Kim x

It's only been a week!....

But it feels so much longer...

I have had a very busy week. My little boy turned Four on Wednesday.

"Four" I have to remind myself how wonderful it all is. I have been a mum for only four years now and the first three I cared for Dillon on my own. An amazing challenge, I laugh and shout every day, I have learnt so much and appreciate the world so much!
So decided to give a last minute party because the weather doesn't allow for much other things! We had a great day, and as always Dillon gets showered with gifts. He had a huge Thomas tank engine cake and lots of friends round. Also fell in muddy puddle head to toe while out trekking in wood! Very happy little boy!

I've been Tagged

The wonderful Ellia has tagged me...... You really need to see her site the girl has some really awesome work. Designs and ideas that take a lot more patience and skill than I ever have when I'm crafting. And, she has 2 children one even a baby! I love the way she includes her family life on her blog! Very Inspiring!

How in the world does she do it? I bet she doesn't ever sleep. Her attention to detail is remarkable and if you are curious as to how she manages this at times, check out this post here...

so here are seven random facts about me...

1. I have an Electric Violin and a Banjo which I try playing (unsuccessfully) but I love the way they feel... thank God the violin has ear phones I'm sure the neighbours would cringe!

2. I have only been making cards since February 2006 that's when I bought my first card kit! I made one card then for my Nan's 80th then the addiction spiralled.... although I have always been crafty and loved anything paper, it's been my life really.... which brings me to ...

3. I love drawing and haven't posted any of my pictures on my blog so think I will share my Favourite!

This is my son Dillon when he was ten months old, in Devon in the cold hills. I drew it from a photo which I like to do so I can get loads of detail.

I love his eyes and if you look really closely you can just make out me taking his pic. Also the cute little dribble just on his lips. I was really pleased with how the texture on the coat turned out.

4. I love marmalade sandwiches.

5. My boyfriend Steve and I reunited after ten years... on friends reunited. We were very close friends then and now we are expecting a baby in March!

6. I don't tend to talk about myself at all (friends say I must be part of MI5) so this is getting tricky... one more fact....

7. I used to really enjoy caving/potholing... totally scary and exciting! some of the passages are really tight and some of them are like big rooms and the water down there is FREEZING but so nice to drink it's like mineral water yummy!

Happy Birthday Zita

Today is my sister's Birthday and I wanted to do something special for a wonderful special person. I wish we were with you to celebrate so this is as close as we can get till we come over enjoy your day. Mwah!!!

On your birthday I wish you much pleasure and joy;

I hope all of your wishes come true

May each hour and minute be filled with delight,

And your birthday be perfect for you!

Instead of counting candles, Or tallying the years,

Contemplate your blessings, As your birthday nears.
Consider special people who love you, and who care,

And others who’ve enriched your life, Just by being there.
Think about the memories Passing years can never mar,

Experiences great and small That have made you who you are.
Another year is a happy gift, So cut your cake, and say,

"Instead of counting birthdays, I count my blessings every day!"

Birthdays are happy events, Times when dreams come true.

So dream a good dream (and let someone know!),

It just might work for you!
Have a happy celebration One you’ll always recall,

And be aware on this day of days,You’re the most special person of all!

Have a Great day We Love You
