Paperbabe Stamps Challenge ~ Dimensional Girl

Thanks for popping by today...

Here's a dimensional doll I created for the current

I used the new Choppy Bob hair die to show how well it works on the 3/4 view Head. I cut two layers of the hair, to give a wonderful dimension. I love the contrast of green and pink together, I used the leaves from the face stamp set to heat emboss with gold embossing powder.

Then added her head with the Body and cut a layer to represent a top, along with a delicate hand.

Copics Used: E84, 87 and YG11

I would love to enter my make in these challenges...

Looking Through The Leaves...

Thanks for visiting today...

Here's a dimensional piece I created for the current

I used the new Afro Curly hair die to give this beauty a fun hairstyle. Along with the Body and Head stamps and dies and then for a fun feature the paper brad helped to give her head moveability.
The vintage doll papers were the inspiration for all the die cut foliage.

Copics Used: Skin; E11,13,99, R00,02,21
Eyes; B01, BG72, BV23, N03 Lips; R35, RV69, R21

Spring Garden Jointed Paper Art Doll

 Thanks for visiting...

We have a new anything goes challenge on the blog today and...

I've made a jointed paper art doll, using the body die along with the portrait head, the hands stamp and dies and the Misty bunches hairstyle, all jointed together with the wonderful paper brad.
I've had this gorgeous 12x12 botanical paper for a while and have been eager to use it as a theme for a doll, so I was thinking it would make a beautiful garden and then the idea of a spring/summer dress, which developed into this 3d dress with dimensional flowers adorning it.
This could be her flying or laying in flowers, it's play time now she's made, I've jointed her bunches too, so everything can move.
I've used vellum throughout, I love the sheer look over the floral patterned papers. So I layered some sticky roll onto the patterned papers before die cutting, I laid the vellum sleeves over the arms to get the sheer fabric look I was hoping for. The rest of her body I decided to add some glitter to the exposed sticky and it worked out quite lovely.
The construction of her dress took a few trial and errors, I wanted the poofy fullness but only applied it to the front, with the back section of the skirt flat, this way she can hang on a wall etc. The pleats aren't glued all the way down I just did the top section under the waistband. Her top has a similar technique, it's been adhered to the top but left loose at the bottom and tucked into the top of the skirt so she still has movement in her waist.
The tiny flowers are from an old sizzix zinnia flower which have the cutest little flowers, I then shaped and adhered each one.

How Peculiar? A Poseable Miss Peregrine Paper Art doll ~ Fan Art!!!

Good morning, great to have you visiting, we have a new challenge on the paperbabe stamps blog today...

The theme is 'movie night'... which movie?... hmm decisions...
I did plan on creating a art journal page using my templates and stamps for a bit of Adventures of Sabrina fan art but realised that was a series, although binge watching feels like a whole movie night lol! So instead I opted for the movie Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children if, like me, you love all things Tim Burton then this fan art is based on the fabulous Miss Peregrine.
I have been so eager to create a poseable paper art doll, it's been ticking over in my creative brain for some time. Then it really clicked when I realised just how to make the joints without brads...
...delighted with myself I just had to put this together. I've used the female face dinky stamp set as the base, and drew some peregrine style hair. I've designed a jointed art doll base but then used the picture below to inspire the costume design, which I drew and coloured using copics.
Her hands are one of my favourite features, although I think maybe her sleeves could have been a little longer.
It's double layered as I wanted to create a back too.. I think taking the photos took me so long as I was too busy posing and playing than clicking hahaha!
You can just see there is also a chain from the the bottle of stamp set heat embossed in gold. Too fun, I already want to put another one together.

Thanks so much for stopping by, let me know if you'd like to see a jointed poseable art doll kit in the shop?

Layered Flower Tutorial

I've had lots of admiring enquiries about the flower in the above piece so... thought it was about time for a tutorial and share how I made it.... I hope you enjoy! (there's lots of pictures too)
I used some grate paper as it's double sided patterned paper, or you can use plain and ink it up yourself.
Then cut eight of the long petal flowers from the tattered florals die.
I use a thick piece of foam, I used to use the back of a mouse mat but found it compresses so much over time!
I use the end of this tool, really should get some professional tools but this one works... so any rounded pen top should do the job... LOL!
Now it's time to create texture, I run the end round the edges of the petal, notice the creases?
I then push along the centre which allows the paper to curl, the harder you press the deeper the curve.
Now simply push the petals together to form a ball
You can even push on the top to really help it to form a ball, now continue with the rest of the flowers,
you may notice that they don't need to be shaped so tightly, as you reach the outer petals.
For the two bottom layers turn them over and burnish the centres.
Now it's time to build, starting with the bottom petal apply hot glue (or what ever your favourite is) to the centre
Lay the next petal in place adjusting it off centre slightly.
Then glue the next shaped petal layer
Simply glue and push the centres of each layer till you have all eight secure.
It's alright to open the petals up... as you can fiddle with the shape when built!
Complete, you can add a decorative centre with button or gem and have the petals looser.
Or... tighten the ball shape again for each layer!
Can't beat a little bit of glitz... LOL!
Hope you have fun and I would love to see your makes if you do try.

Have a wonderfully creative Day, BiG HuGs Kim :)
