Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #94 ~ Kitschy Cat

I had the best fun creating this for the current challenge over on the Paperbabe Stamps blog...
I started by drawing the cat head and chest fluff, with the bow from the Alice template set. I wanted to create a cat with the closed eye stamp in the set just so you can see it being used. I've moved the nose higher up on the face to show how it might squidge when the eyes are closed that way. Then stamped those yummy whiskers.
I was quite happy with just the head and chest when my daughter said quite matter of factually that is looked like a cat ghost which was not what I was going for, so, I then drew the sitting body part on another sheet and continued on.
I coloured the whole cat with copic markers(pic of pen colours below), the blush on the cheeks I used some coloured pencil as I felt it worked the best for a translucent look without bleeding into the base colour. Then I went around the whole image with dense black pen lines to give a real graphic almost cartoon look. I went for strong shadows and bright white highlights although they're not showing very clearly. The head piece is cut separately from the body, each mounted on adhesive foam to give dimension.
I couldn't resist a kitsch background for my cat, finding some gorgeous patterned paper in my now 'vintage' paper stash hahaha, that to me just oozes vintage possible cat lady wallpaper(no offence).
Here she is in a box frame, but had to take her out again to photograph as the glass reflected everything. This is what I love about the mixed media templates and stamps, you can take your creativity any direction you want, from arty to graphic and everywhere in between, I hope I've inspired you to have a go.

I thought I would also enter my project to these fabulous challenges...

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #86 ~ Theme ~ Animals

Hello, delighted you've stopped by today,
we have a new fortnightly challenge over at the Paperbabe Stamps blog...
and the theme is Animals or pets...

I have to give credit to the very talented Micki Wilde for the inspiration for this piece. She had class as part of the Art is Magic weekend retreat quite a few months ago, and I just had to try it with the cat templates...

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #85 ~ Picture Inspiration

Hello, delighted you've stopped by today,
we have a new fortnightly challenge over at the Paperbabe Stamps blog...

I created a dia de los muertos gato in my art journal using the Cat face stamp set, along with the mixed media templates, and the sugar skulls stamp set. Some of the decoration was using the butterfly and the rose layers small.

I have recorded most of the process, although my memory card became full and I didn't have time to empty it and continue... I will try an upload next week.

Thank you so much for stopping by,

Enjoy a wonderfully creative weekend,

Paperbabe Stamps Challenge #72 ~ Anything goes

Can't believe it's been this long since I have posted on here, lots going on behind scenes.
This Fortnight's new challenge is an anything goes so time to have some creative fun! Check out the Paperbabe Stamps blog for details...

Ok onto my project...
I have wanted to do a shaped card for a while and thought the Cat mixed media templates would be perfect for this.
I started by drawing the front of the cat directly onto some gelli prints I had made,
I folded the paper on the left side of the drawn cat, I then cut the two layers together leaving a little of the fold to form the hinge.
I drew the front legs on a separate piece of the gelli print paper as well as the tail, and adhered in place. Everything has had a inky edge treatment with black distress ink.
I stamped the cat face and added details to the paws with black pencil.
