Well it's time for challenge #2 (well #2 for the new DT members) from Lauren and this week it's an
inspiration challenge. I just love how Lauren is mixing up the challenges to give us something new each week. I don't know about the rest of you but I learn different things with different challenges so this is fun (and challenging) for me. Come play with us and link YOUR inspiration to the
Mr. Linky here. Be sure you include keyword MTTI01.

Here's what I was inspired to create from Lauren's photo - a little "shape card" (a sleeveless dress) with flowers in the colors from Lauren's color map. I also used the Basket Basics template from My Timeless Templates to go with the card to create a small thank you gift. (Gosh I love these templates!) You can't tell from the photos but the color of my dress card is much closer to the purple color in Lauren's photo than it looks here. *Sorry*
As for the basket... I modified Lauren's template slightly by weaving in a third "weaving square" so that each section of the basket is equal in size. It makes the basket a bit taller than the original template but it was what I needed to hold all the candies I was going to fill it with. I simply cut two more of the 1" x 8.5" strips and adhered them together like you do for the first two layers. (If you own the template this will make more sense to you.)

Before I assembled the basket I sponged chocolate ink on all the edges for a more defined basket look. After assembly I used Marvy's small flower punch to punch out the purple and chocolate flowers then stamped each flower with images from PTI's With Sympathy set, using brown flowers on the purple punched flowers and craft white ink on the chocolate punched flowers. Each punched flower was then adhered to each square of the basket. I decorated the outside of the handle with ribbon that matches the ribbon on the dress then added a few of the purple punched flowers on top of the ribbon. I also edge-punched a 1" strip of purple CS to line the INSIDE of the basket handle so it's finished from all views. Finally, I created a "liner" for the basket from a scrap piece of the purple CS.

For the goodies IN the basket I wanted to use the Hershey Nugget candies. I used Papertrey's white labels, stamped the medium flower image from Gina K's Bold Flowers set then over stamped the flower with the word Thanks from PTI Mega Messages in Dark Chocolate ink. Wrapped each nugget candy in a label and voilá - a quick but lovely basket full of goodies to say thanks.
Here are some close ups of the basket liner before it's adhered and the basket half-filled with goodies.

Now - scoot over to the other DT members and see what each of them has cooked up for you as well! Hugs n smiles.
