My Time to Inspire Challenge

Wow I can't believe it's Saturday already! This week it's My Time to Inspire challenge and it's being hosted by the lovely and talented Kristin Bueter. I love the inspiration challenges because you can do whatever you are inspired to do! It might be the colors that inspire you, it might be an element in the challenge photo, it might be the feel or the theme. The idea is to play along and show us how you were inspired by this piece. Please link your creation to Mr. Linky so we can see what you create. Remember, Lauren Meader is featuring the top five from each challenge in her "My Time to Shine" segment and it could be YOU!

I loved this week's inspiration piece - the colors, the flowers - so clean and fresh. I've been running real short on time and on thank you cards lately so I kept this one simple, clean and sweet. I used the colors and the flowers as my primary source of inspiration. I did not add ribbon or embellishments but did a bit of Cuttlebug for texture.

Paper: PTI - Spring Rain, White, Dark Chocolate

Stamps: PTI - With Sympathy (see it doesn't have to be a sympathy card but that's one magnificent flourish!) I added two additional flourishes near the top from Fancy Flourishes. Sentiment from Mega Mixed Messages. I added the dots under the sentiment - one of my favorite stamps I own are those little dots! It's from Wishing You.

Ink: PTI Dark Chocolate

Misc: white embossing powder to make the flowers and butterfly stand out.

Hop on over to the rest of the Design Team and see what they have come up with. I promise they will inspire you. Then come play along and be sure to link up with us.

My Time to Inspire Challenge MTTI

Hi all and happy Saturday. It's time for Lauren's My Time to Inspire Challenge. This is our inspiration piece this week:
I'm really sorry that this is such a quick post. I had company for 5 days and was off work which was FABULOUS but of course when I returned to work I was rather swamped - again! My card for this week is a riot of color and patterns! That's what I took away from this inspiration piece - I used stamps from several sets - With Sympathy, Faux Ribbon, Fancy Flourishes, Simply Stationery. I chose Berry Sorbet, Ocean Tides, Summer Sunrise and Ripe Avocado for my colors so I dyed a white silk flower with my berry sorbet ink pad - it's darker than I hoped but it's better than any other ones I had. I added a little ribbon treatment and a simple sentiment from Mega Mixed Messages.

Please pop over to see what the rest of the Design Team has cooked up for you then come play with us - create your own project and upload it to your favorite place then link to Mr. Linky on Lauren's Blog.

My Time to Inspire Challenge MTTI

Well it's time for challenge #2 (well #2 for the new DT members) from Lauren and this week it's an inspiration challenge. I just love how Lauren is mixing up the challenges to give us something new each week. I don't know about the rest of you but I learn different things with different challenges so this is fun (and challenging) for me. Come play with us and link YOUR inspiration to the Mr. Linky here. Be sure you include keyword MTTI01.

Here's what I was inspired to create from Lauren's photo - a little "shape card" (a sleeveless dress) with flowers in the colors from Lauren's color map. I also used the Basket Basics template from My Timeless Templates to go with the card to create a small thank you gift. (Gosh I love these templates!) You can't tell from the photos but the color of my dress card is much closer to the purple color in Lauren's photo than it looks here. *Sorry*

As for the basket... I modified Lauren's template slightly by weaving in a third "weaving square" so that each section of the basket is equal in size. It makes the basket a bit taller than the original template but it was what I needed to hold all the candies I was going to fill it with. I simply cut two more of the 1" x 8.5" strips and adhered them together like you do for the first two layers. (If you own the template this will make more sense to you.) Before I assembled the basket I sponged chocolate ink on all the edges for a more defined basket look. After assembly I used Marvy's small flower punch to punch out the purple and chocolate flowers then stamped each flower with images from PTI's With Sympathy set, using brown flowers on the purple punched flowers and craft white ink on the chocolate punched flowers. Each punched flower was then adhered to each square of the basket. I decorated the outside of the handle with ribbon that matches the ribbon on the dress then added a few of the purple punched flowers on top of the ribbon. I also edge-punched a 1" strip of purple CS to line the INSIDE of the basket handle so it's finished from all views. Finally, I created a "liner" for the basket from a scrap piece of the purple CS.

For the goodies IN the basket I wanted to use the Hershey Nugget candies. I used Papertrey's white labels, stamped the medium flower image from Gina K's Bold Flowers set then over stamped the flower with the word Thanks from PTI Mega Messages in Dark Chocolate ink. Wrapped each nugget candy in a label and voilá - a quick but lovely basket full of goodies to say thanks.

Here are some close ups of the basket liner before it's adhered and the basket half-filled with goodies.

Now - scoot over to the other DT members and see what each of them has cooked up for you as well! Hugs n smiles.
