DCM - The Darling Bugs of May!

Was commissioned to do a Christening card, and it just so happens I looked at the DCM challenge this week and Lynda writes

The Darlin' BUGS of May
I'd like to see some BUGS eg ladybirds, bees, spiders, caterpillars, butterflies, dragonflies - it would be lovely to see them taking centre stage on your card or be used as a lovely embellishment but I won't accept them if they're just printed onto your backing papers as that wouldn't be a challenge at all!

So I did as she said!  The butterflies on this card were stamped then I cut them out.  To see the creations of the DCM team click HERE

DCM Lacey

Fab challenge on DCM this week...

I had a card half made, their challenge gave me the final inspiration I needed!

The lace flower was made by gathering lace into a rosette then stapling it... who needs messing with glue?!

Apologies for the shiny photo, had to resort to using my flash.

Ingredients:
Paper - Laura Ashley
Ribbon - East of India
Punches - the Punch Bunch and others
Stamps - Rubber Stamp Tapestry and Rubber Stampede
Ribbon, staples, thread and lace from Stash
Pebeo Pearl Touch

DCM - Miss you

Made this for DCM this week, here is the challenge.

Ingredients:
Paper - Basic Grey
Leaf cutout from a swap on CBC
Buttons from stash
Stamp - Rubber Stampede
Pebeo Pearl Touch

DCM - Oriental

How timely! The DCM challenge was to make an orintal themed card without Red and Black.

I've just got my hands on some beautiful character images that are perfect for colouring. Please watch this space for more info about them, I've got a project brewing *wink*

... let me know what you think of her!

The outline of the image of black, so hope thats ok!

Used a punch I got ages ago to put the nicks into the corners of the card squares, and then wrapped embroidery floss round it for an `oriental' feel.

And yes... I inked the ribbon! Nothing is safe from my ink pad! The knot was done by cutting a piece of the ribbon to size then knotting the longer piece round it. I was pleased with the results as it created a flatter, less bulky knot.

Ingredients:
Paper - HOTP
Flowers - Prima
Punches - unknown
Pens/pencils - Derwent watercolour, sakura gel and souffle.
Ribbon, floss and brads from stash.

DCM - patterned paper

The DCM challenge this week was to use 3 different patterned paper, and if possible from 3 different manufacturers, a double tick for me this week :)

I also tried distressing the edge of the paper with a seam picker. That's the second haberdashery tool I've been using recently, the other one being this wheely thing with points on to do faux stitching, it's fab!

I'm not convinced that my choice of papers work, they do clash slightly, I'm hoping the colours in Tilda bring them together.

Not a huge amount of snow today, enough for the odd snowball, but not sticky enough for a snowman :(

Ingredients:
Stamp - Magnolia
Paper - Anna Griffin, HOTP and unknown
Flowers - Prima
Punch - Martha Stewart
Swirls - Quickutz
Ribbon and brads from stash

DCM - Birds birds birds

I have to confess I don't have many birds in my stash.

It seems that birds have been quite popular oflate in scrapbooking and cardmaking. Not really got into them myself, but have loved seeing what other people have done with birds.

I did have some papers I got from my sister in a stash swap we did that had owls on them.

So here are a couple of cards made for DCM challenge this week.

Ingredients:
Paper by Paper Mania, Stamps by Lavinia Stamps and Hero Arts, Ribbon, button, string and pin from stash.

Ingredients:
Paper by ?, stamp by Anitas, leaf punch by Leone Em, Prima flower, heart, pin and bling from stash.

Been playing with my Craft Robo again, regretted using the patterned paper, it made the word birthday unclear. Hence all the extra doodling!

Took these of the boys yesterday as we walking home from school. Luke insists on rolling down the hill, I can just about make do it only on Fridays when his uniform can get as dirty as he likes!

How did they know it's my favourite obsession at the moment!

Yes, those girls at DCM have challenged the use of scallops great and small on your cards this week!

Ingredients:
Anna Griffin paper, sticker by Brenda Walton, ribbon, button and lace from stash.

DCM Heat it up!

It's been ages since I got out the UTEE, its fab stuff, bit unpredictable, but thats the fun of it.

Thanks to DCM this week they inspired me to have a play.

Made this card with one of the pieces, got two others that I'll be using on a commissioned album I'm making, will share pics when its done and been given to the recipient.

The other card I made as I was desperate to have a go with my new Martha Stewart doily lace edge punch. Especially as I had to pay over £12 in customs for two of them - in addition to the already high price! Next time I'll ask the seller to send things seperately, actually, next time I'll buy them direct from Martha's website before they get sold out!

also...do check out my sketch challenge here

CPS 55 and DCM Favourite things

A friend of mine who is discovering the world of digital photography wanted to take some pictures of me making a card. So thought I'd combine the CPS sketch with the Favourite things challenge on DCM.

So I got making while she snapped away. I then had a look at the pics she had taken and most were out of focus, she had had the camera on the wrong settings. So I quickly made another card...

So the first card is for the CPS sketch and the 2nd is made using the scraps! Using lots of my fave products!

Ingredients:
PP by K and Co, Stamps by Anna Griffin and Rhonna Farrer, Prima Flowers, buterfly and stamen punch, Ric rac, staples and brads.

DCM ... stitching

I love stitching on cards, I haven't done any for a while, so was nice to get the old needle and thread out for the DCM challenge... didn't do anything exotic though, just stitched the lace, flower and ribbon to the card. Stitching is a great way of attaching vellum or "lumpy" things to a card where glue just won't do!

Ingredients:
PP by Anna Griffin, Stampin up! stamp, Prima flowers, button, thread and lace from stash.

DCM - One Ribbon, Two Buttons and a spoonful of flowers...,

What a cute recipe!

Used it for Mother's day cards...

Ingredients:
PP by Dianes Daughters, stamp by Anna Griffin, flowers by Prima, ribbon, staples and buttons from stash.
