New Year and Snowmen

Hello friends. I am so happy to be back posting here at the Aviary. I have missed all of you. I am hoping each of you have a fantastic 2017.

Today I have a card for you I made using the Snowman Love stamp set. You know snowman are just not for Christmas.

I stamped the image of the snowman 3 times across a piece of white cardstock I trimmed down. I then used my Copic marker BG10 to give it a little highlight here and there to make it look a white.

I added YR07 to their noses and W3 and W1 for the ground. I of course wanted to have the focus on the snowmen so I didn't want to add any bright pattern paper. I took a embossing folder I had a embossed snowflakes on a piece of colored cardstock to use for the background. It gave it just enough. To finish off the card front I tied a piece of blue and white twine around the bottom.

Supplies Used:
Paper Wings Productions Snowman Love stamp set
Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink
Copic Markers
Pool Party Cardstock from Stampin Up
Sizzix Embossing folder Snowflakes
Blue and White Twine
ATG
White Card Base

I hope you enjoyed my post today. I will be back with more cards next week.
Have a gorgeous day.

Let it Snow

Hello friends. So about this time every year we seem to be melting from the awful heat. Although we haven't been in the triple digits to many days just down the road in the big city they have seen them for many many days. The only real places to be in this heat is inside with the AC blowing or in the swimming pool. Sometimes even that is too hot.
So we all start dreaming of winter, what little of a winter we get anyway. We start wishing for snow that we never see and building snowman.

So today I pulled out Snowman Love Clear Stamp Set
I stamped the images on a piece of Kraft cardstock and colored the images using my Prismacolor Pencils.

I adhered the card front on to a white card base using my ATG.

I have to say this is going to be one of my favorite stamps for the winter months.

Hope you enjoyed my post today.
Have a wonderful day friends.

Themed Thursday-Tags

Happy Thursday everyone!  Erica with you today to bring you 3 very sweet tags using the fabulous products from the Paper Wings Productions Shop.
They were all very easy to make and I am going to take you through the process of creating one of them today.  I started with medium sized manila tags and sprayed them all with Lindys Stamp Gang Nantucket Sidekick that you will find in our January Nesting Components Kit.

After I dried the tag with my heat gun I used the stamp set Art Textures to stamp out a few different textures all over my tag to create a nice background.
I hit the tag with my heat gun once again to make sure all the ink was completely dry.  Next I picked one of the great stamps from the Valentine Wishes stamp set and stamped it out in VersaMark ink and heat embossed it in gold embossing powder.
I love the way the gold looks on this tag!  I wanted to add some more gold embossing so I took the small heart stamp that comes in the Snowman Love stamp set and stamped it out so it looked as if the little hearts are floating up to the top of the tag and then I heat embossed them in the same gold embossing powder.
To finish off my tag I added a flower from my stash, some bling and some beautiful hand dyed vintage rayon ribbon from the January Nesting Components Kit.
I hope you enjoyed my tags today and that you were inspired to get out some of your sprays, stamps and ink and get a little creative!  The January Nesting Components Kit is available for purchase in the Paper Wings Productions Shop and do not forget we now have a Stamp of The Month that you can purchase for 40% off and includes a full color print out of sample ideas!  It is a fabulous stamp set that you will definitely want to pick up!  To stay up to date on sales, stamp releases and much more make sure to like us on Facebook and follow our blog!  Thanks so much for stopping today and remember to Let Your Creativity Take Flight!

Feature Friday: Peace on Earth

Good day peeps,

It's Shay here today and thank goodness it is Friday!  I don't know what it is about the end of the year, but life gets a bit crazy.  Why not take a little break and check out the latest offerings from the oh so talented gals this week?  Norma's piece of art is stunning (either version is delightful) and Julie's one beautiful layer cards are anything but flat!

I have a little something sparkly (more so in real life) to share with you.

Using the adorable snowman from the Snowman Love stamp set illustrated by Liz Allen:

1. Heat embossed the snowman using white embossing powder on a circle and again on a scrap of white cardstock.
2. Use three shades of blue Distress Inks and ink blending tool to color in the circle.  The white embossing resists ink so wipe off any ink from the edges of the snowman.
3. Sprinkle water and then spray iridescent spray on the circle.  Allow to dry.  Stamp "peace on earth" from Little Christmas (another sweet sentiment set by Liz Allen) in dark blue ink curving the stamp on your block to mimic the curve of the circle.  Clear stamp are quite flexible. In a darker blue ink edge the circle.
4. Cut out snowman from white cardstock cutting off arms.  Color and decorate snowman as desired.  I added a little pale blue marker and white gel pen to the left edge of the snowman to make the white pop a bit more.  I decorated the snowman with jewels and pearls.  Some of the jewels I colored in with Copic markers to change the color.
5. Adhere decorated snowman on the circle right over the stamped image of the snowman using dimensional adhesive.  Now your snowman has arms without fussy cutting! Whew.
6. Adhere circle to a bought doily or a die cut or punched doily.  Liberally decorate with jewels (and/or glitter, stickles or anything else to make it shine).  Tie bakers twine to top (or any ribbon of your choice).

And here is another image for your viewing pleasure:

This little snowman would add some holiday sparkle on a tree, around the house (or office) or on a present (perhaps add the name of the recipient on the back).  It is sure to create smiles.  Make a few of them to make a knock-out garland.  Another great thing about this snowman ornament/tag is that you can give it to anyone whether they celebrate Christmas or not.

I hope you ink up some Paper Wings Productions stamps and create some holiday sparkle!  We would love to see what you make with Paper Wings Productions stamps.  Add your projects to our flickr group, to Pinterest, comment with a link on this post or even email pictures to us!

Take flight,
Shay.

Mixed Media Monday - Snowman Canvas

Hello Peeps!
Can you believe it is December already?  Wow - this year has just flown by!  Now that Thanksgiving has passed, we hare getting into the Christmas spirit at my house.  My husband has been getting out our decorations, and we decided to get a small table top tree which is really great.  Down here in San Antonio, however, it isn't really very cold outside.  To try to enhance the idea of Christmas and cold weather, I have made a little Snowman canvas to put out as a new decoration.

First I started with a 5x7 canvas and used Collage Pauge Matte to glue some papers from my stash to create a winter scene.

Next I stamped the trees from the Build a Scene stamp set on various green paper for some quick paper piecing.  These are really not too tough to cut and the different green papers add a nice touch.

I chose to use the "oh so cute" snowman from the Snowman Love set. Here I have glued text to some cardstock and covered it with a light coat of gesso.  Then I stamped the images in Archival ink.  I colored them with prisma pencils.  I also added some gesso around the edges to give it a bit of a  frosty look.

Once all of the images were cut out, I glued them onto the canvas and added a few more details.  I decided that this sweet snowman needed a cardinal on his hat so I used the bird from the Window set.  After much deliberation, I finally chose the sentiment "holiday wishes".  I was nervous I wouldn't stamp it straight so I stamped it on a separate piece of paper and then cut around the words.  I added a few snowflakes from the Winter Mix It Up set to the blue sky using Stampin' Up! Whisper White craft ink.  My two big finish items were adding Martha Stewart glitter to anything white and after shaking off any excess glitter, I put some shine on the hat and sentiment using Glossy Accents.

He's so cute!!!  Let me tell you something - this thing really sparkles! I'm really going to enjoy having this in my Christmas decor collection!  And, this project came together pretty quick!  This would be a fun project to make for yourself, or as a gift to a friend! Now, if only we could have a little colder weather - dare I ask for a few snowflakes closer to Christmas?  Well, I can dream, can't I??

Happy Stamping!!!

Feature Friday- Advent Calendar: Part 2

Hello Peeps!
Welcome back to Part 2 of the Advent Calendar!  Today I"m sharing tag 9-16.  Since I used smaller tags for this project, I felt the smaller numbers from the Perfect Alphabet Clear set would be a better choice, and keep the focus on the image. The number 9 is from the Perfect Number Clear Set and all were stamped with Versa Fine Black Onyx.  Let's take a look at them!!

I've been inspired by so many ideas on Pinterest, Splitcoast, and Online Card Classes Holiday Workshop.  Here are today's tags!

Details:  This tag features one of our Christmas Sentiments stamps in the background, and one of our border stamps from our Life Framer set. I inked cardstock in yellow, red and green, and then embossed the border stamp in a contrasting color and cut the strips to length for the tree shape.  The star is from our Hanging Stars set, and it is also embossed (Egyptian Gold-Judikens)

Details: Cardstock background (Basic Grey), white Neenah Cardstock with a torn edge added for snow and snowman from Snowman Love set and used the cute little scarf for this little guy.  The Let it Snow was stamped to fit the space and embossed with Stampin' Up Whisper White ep.  Since he was looking upward, I had to give him a little snowflake to watch from the Winter Mix It Up set.  And of course, I couldn't resist a little Rock Candy Distress Stickles to make the snow sparkle.

Details:  I'm a Texas gal!  So, I had to pay a little tribute to Texas!  I used the Lone Star State clear stamp and stamped it on this cute Christmas plaid paper and cut it out. I added the cute Texmas sentiment in Festive Berries distress ink. And finally, a sweet little mistletoe from the Holiday Tags clear set. The woodgrain paper is from Studio Calico.  Perfect!!

Details:  I just love this pine bough and pine cones from the Pines Cling Stamp Set. I added another element from the Holiday Tags clear set to create an ornament.  I drew the hanger and bow with a gold pen.  And, I love this sentiment from the Winter Mix It Up set.

Details:  Basic Grey green paper from Figgy is accented here with Flourish Fun 2 stamp and two more strips of BG Figgy paper.  All edges are inked with Walnut Distress ink, and the Happy Holiday Script sentiment added and embossed in red! Simple and Elegant.

Details: Here is another stamp from the Pines Cling Stamp Set using the large tree and I used a white pen to add snow to the tree and Frosted Lace stickles.  Although it is faint here, I used the small dot stamp from the Art Textures set to create falling snow stamped with SU! Whisper White craft ink and embossed with clear ep.  It reminds me of a trip I took to Wyoming for my first Christmas in snow.  I'll never forget that.

Details:  This one took a little work, but I love how it turned out.  The tag background is inked with two colors of Distress ink plus a little Walnut.  I've added a strip of paper to separate the two areas and give it some interest.  Then I used the Merry Clear stamp with Christmas in black, and merry stamped in Festive Berries on a separate brown inked tag.  I embossed merry ink clear to give it a little shine, and then trimmed the sentiment to expose the background and have the letters hang off the side. The finishing touch is the holly berries and leaves from Holiday Tags stamped and colored with Distress markers, with a touch of Barn Door distress stickles. It feels classic and delicate.

DetailsI loved seeing this technique from Jennifer McGuire in the Online Card Classes Holiday Workshop.  First I stamped the sentiment from Snowman Love  and using a mask, I have sectioned off part of the tag and stamped a flourish and several snowflakes in a variety of blues along the edge.  Using an ink blending tool, I shaded the exposed areas of the tag.  And, to add that icy look, a touch of Diamond Stickles.  I love how this one turned out! (Flourish Fun 2 , Holiday Mix It Up, and Winter Mix It Up for the snowflakes).

Lots of festive designs here for part 2 of our Advent Calendar.  There will be one more installment of the remaining tags before the end of the month.  I hope you found something today (or several ideas) that will inspire you for your projects. As always, I'd love to see what you create!  Add your projects to our flickr group, to Pinterest, comment with a link on this post or even email pictures to us! See you soon with the final set of tags.

"Deck the Halls!!!"
Happy Stamping!

Julie
