Baby All I Want for Christmas

....is YOU! No seriously, you guys rock :D.

Please vote for me in this nail art contest!! I'm number 26!!

I did this for another nail art contest, for which the theme is Christmas gifts/presents/what you want for Christmas. I wanted to put my whole family on my nails...but that was too hard and not that pretty lol. So I was looking for ideas, and Subtle Shimmer says, well what do you really want for Christmas!?! I was like umm that would look dumb...a crockpot, some new jeans, this Columbia jacket, an Urban Decay Naked Basics palette. She says do the palette. DUH! So I did :D.
SHABAM!
I picked out four of the colors, and did the front of the palette too so people could tell what it was lol.

Here is the palette. 6 nude matte shades...mmmm!!
I used two coats of Zoya Shay for the palette. It kind of has a shimmer to it like the palette compared to the matte shadoes. W.O.S is Zoya Farah, Naked 2 is OPI Barefoot in Barcelona, Faint is Barefoot in Barcelona with a little China Glaze Call of the Wild mixed in. Crave is Zoya Noot. I used this awesome nail art pen my MIL got me as an early Christmas present for all the black lines. Even then I couldn't get it perfect, but I could get SO much more detailed than with my brush!

Fun fun!!
Don't forget to vote for me in the nail art contest!!

What do YOU want for Christmas? :D

Guest Post: Naked 2

My friend Jenny did a nice informational review post about the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette for you guys! Thanks Jenny! ~ Megan

Now, I know the buzz of the Urban decay Naked 2 palette has kind of waned, but my amazing boyfriend got it for me for Mother’s day, so I wanted to share it with all of you.
First of all, I’d like to say thank you to Megan for giving me this opportunity!  Congratulations, and I can’t wait to see the wedding pictures.  Enjoy the honeymoon!
The Naked 2 palette is awesome.  It comes with 12 neutral colors that are perfect for a variety of uses, from every day wear to evening dramatic looks.  I found that there is quite a bit of fall out, so patting or dabbing the colors on usually works better than sweeping it on the lid.  Also, I highly recommend using an eyeshadow primer because I’ve heard from a few people that the colors don’t last if you don’t use one.  I personally use Urban Decay’s Potion Primer, but I’m sure any kind of good primer will work.
The colors included in the Naked 2 palette include:
Foxy-matte cream (a little on the yellow side)
Half Baked-metallic neutral gold (also in the Naked palette)
Bootycall-satin champagne
Chopper-metallic rose gold with silver micro glitters

Tease-matte purply-brown
Snakebite-satin deep bronze
Suspect-satin taupe
Pistol-satin steel gray

Verve-metallic gray with pink undertones
YDK-metallic taupe with copper micro glitter (it almost seems toasted)
Busted-satin, plum dark brown (I LOVE this color so much)
Blackout-matte black (perfect for liner use)

I haven’t had a chance to play with it as much as I would like, but so far my favorites are Chopper, Tease (I LOVE this matte), YDK and Busted.  I also love that there is a very pigmented, matte, black.

It costs $50, and we got it at Ulta.  I definitely think that it’s worth the money because if you were to buy each of these as a single shadow, you be spending quite a bit more money.  (They’re about $18 per shadow!)  It also comes with a dual brush with a shading brush on one side and a crease brush on the other, and a travel sized Lip Junkie lip gloss in Naked.
Look how cute it is!  I love this lip gloss also.  It has a really nice smell and it has a minty taste and feel to it.  I’ve noticed that lip color doesn’t really stick to my lips very well, and this is really no different and I also prefer to wear a nude lipstick under this as well because it’s fairly sheer and the lip stick *usually* helps it stay a little longer.

I think that if you’re into neutrals, this is definitely the palette for you.  I don’t know if you necessarily need both the Naked and the Naked 2 palettes unless you’re a makeup artist or a neutral lover, like me.

Thank you for reading!

Guest Post: UD Polish

Here is a guest post from an awesome Twitter follower (yes I'm totally on Twitter now) Dana. This polish is super yum! Can't get over that shimmer!
--------------------

This is Dana from over at PolishedClawsUp! Today for my guest post I have a vintage lovely to show you from Urban Decay - Exhaust. My collection is steadily growing and I think my heart my actually stop if I ever got my hands on any of the original UD polishes. I've loved their polishes since I was a teenager and it's been fun getting re-acquainted with old friends. Exhaust is a sheer polish that I use primarily for layering. This is three thin coats over one coat of OPI's What's With The Cattitude? Enjoy! :) Happy  holidays!

Brown Eyeshadow and Liquid Liner

Here is my eye of the day - brown, natural, but with more bold liner
I used Too Faced Liquif Eye to make Tarte Werewolf (dark brown) into a liquid liner. I lined my upper lash line and the outer corner on the bottom.

I smudged MAC Swiss Chocolate (autumn brown) along the lash line and about half way up the lid.

Then I finished off the top of the lid, above the brown, with Urban Decay Polyester Bride (ivory shimmer).

The total look wearing MAC Gem of Roses on my lips.

Urban Decay Pocket Rocket

I ordered a couple things from the Hautelook Urban Decay sale. One of them was Urban Decay Pocket Rocket Lipgloss in Jesse.
It has really cool packaging! It's wide and flattish so it really does fit nicely in your pocket.

Packaging swatch of the color
On the top of the lid it says "rub me" :P
All the colors have different boy names and guys on the cap. Here is Jesse.

When you tilt it, you see Jesse in his underwear haha!

Jesse is a purpley red lip gloss with a bit of shimmer. It reminds me of a glass of rich red wine.

Such a pretty color!

Heres a quick cell phone pic of me wearing Jesse. It's not quite as dark and pupley as you'd think once you put it on your lips. You can see in the swatches above its about half way sheer too. Really nice!
It smells and tastes a little funny, but not bad. Kind of like campfire marshmallows lol! It's smooth and not sticky. It's really slippery and last a good while, like your usual gloss (maybe 2 hours). Be careful if you're applying it on the go without a mirror and you rub your lips together. It sort of made that extra line of gloss if you know what I mean, so just make sure you check in a mirror real quick before you run off again. I love it!!

Blue Liner with UD Ammo Palette

I love eyeshadow palettes! They're so versatile for really intricate club night makeup or a quick and easy before school look. I went with the latter.
I used a cheap blue eyeliner, Urban Decay Sin all over the lid, and Smog in the crease. I really need to work on my crease technique so I've been trying it more in a subtle way.

Then I used Urban Decay Shattered on the outer corner of my lower lid for a pop of color. What's so cool about this color is that it's a duochrome. It's super bright blue, but it flashes a greenish gold too.

EOTD: First Day of School!

This is the first day of this semester, my last year of college, wahoo!!! Here is my look for the day:
Nothing too special, just me and what I like :).

I used my Urban Decay Ammo Palette that I got in a swap. I love it!!

I didn't take pics in stages, just the finished product.

I used brown Almay eyeliner and Rimmel Lash Flirt Mascara.

I added a little accent to the corner of my lower lash line with Mildew. It really doesn't show well in the pics but does in person.

I used Sin all over, with Smog along the lash line and thicker on the outer edge. Maui Wowie has a little glitter and a grungy browny greeny bronzey look to it, so I swiped a medium line of that above the Smog to add some fun.

I am loving my eyeshadow palettes lately! Anyone else have the Urban Decay Ammo Palette?

EOTD: At A Wedding

My boyfriend best friend got married yesterday! It was actually supposed to be today, but with the hurricane imminent (it's about to pass over us within a couple hours actually) they bumped it up a day. Here is what I wore and my overall look.
You'll want to read on if you're interested in eye makeup. I used mostly the TrueBlood Tarte palette, with one MAC and one Urban Decay from the Ammo palette.
Closeup of eye makeup. Here is what I did:

This is only the shadow primer from the Tarte for Trueblood palette. I like to put it up quite high, which is why I have my eyebrow in the pic so you can see. It goes pretty close. If you don't put it up high enough and your shadow goes over the edge of the primer it looks weird and doesn't blend right.

I used brown eyeliner from Almay, then covered the whole lid with a toned down brown neutral - Tarte Dusk.

Then I used a darker brown to accentuate my eyeliner and apply in the crease - MAC Swiss Chocolate. The eyeshadow does have a touch of red to the brown, but not as much as the pic. I'm really not good at the crease thing by the way. Feel free to offer tips lol.

The dress I wore was teal, brown, and burnt orange. So I used Tarte Charmer to fill in the space between my eyeliner and crease about 3/4 of the way in from the outer corner. The brush in the picture helps you see where I applied it.
Here is Charmer finished on both eyes.

I love to play with color, so I pulled a color from my dress to line about 1/3 of my lower lash line. I used Urban Decay Shattered from the Ammo palette.

Here is the finished eye, with Blinc Water-Resistant Mascara.

Here is my finished face right before the wedding.
