Sending Love

Red and pink were the Inkspirational prompt, and it indeed inspired me. Queue the red and pink inks with my balloon stencil!

A simple card with layered balloons and the added element of a few balloon dies.

Happy creating!

Black and White 50th Card

Happy New Year!

Creating along with the Color Throwdown challenge.

What's not to love about black, grey and white. I'm often reminded of the opening scenes in Wizard of Oz, but I do find it's fun to create in black and white.

I used an old set for this one with the balloons that you could only imagine being much more colorful. Balloons are usually always colorful, unless you're celebrating a milestone birthday.

I used a mix of supplies for this one! I hope you can get your mix going and create something.

Naughty or Nice?

The color combination at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown was my inspiration for this card. Admittedly my end result is a little odd, but my original thought in creating this is to have a choice of a green or a pink check on whether you wanted to be naughty or nice.

The little shaker with the options for the checks reminds me of one of those boxes where they say "Brake in case of an emergency." And behind the glass is a Snickers candy bar.

I do we think we have times where we can pick between both checks, so maybe pick both?

I hope you find some time to be n........

Party Pups

Today's card was inspired by the prompt at As You Like It, which was "favourite critter" (domesticated critter, that is).

Shocker, but as the photo on my blog shows a picture of a dog, I fess up that dogs steal my heart.

My dad inspired my love for dogs. My mom didn't want pets in our house, she didn't want the mess, chaos and dog hair. I wanted a dog so badly as a child, and I asked Santa for one when I was five. "Santa" delivered. He convinced my mom with a non-shedding dog. The rest is history. And so still have a non-shedder, but my life has been filled with shedders too.

I love that Photoplay had this fun paper with the pups and a die set to match. I cut them all out and have been slowly creating cards, mixing them with other pattern papers, stamps and dies.

Today's card mixes my critters with Pretty Pink Posh and Catherine Pooler Designs stamps/dies.

Find some time to create with a critter today! And use some chunky glitter!

Seize the Birthday Inspired

It has certainly been a while since I've posted.  Life has been a bit on the busy side, and it always puts a damper on my crafty fun.

I managed to get some craft time the last couple of weeks, and this weekend was inspired to create a card using the inspiration at Seize the Birthday.

I went with wet embossing, because nothing is more magical than melting embossing powder.  I stamped my cupcake images with Versafine and embossed with clear embossing powder.  My three sentiment pieces were all embossed with white embossing powder.

Such a fun and easy card to create, and bit on the masculine side which is always a plus.

I hope you find some time to get inky!

Balloon Inspired Birthday Card

I loved the photo inspiration from Just Add Ink.  It inspired me to make a card with balloons using a set that I received last fall as part of the Scrapbook & Cards Today Card making event.  I love to pull the sets back out later and create with them.  Here is the inspiration photo for my card.

For this one, I stuck with the three primary colors in my stamped image.

I tried to keep it all CAS from there, with just the sentiment and the white background.

Get crafty!

Merry Christmas - Gnome Shaker

I have a few gnome stamps, but decided to go holidays for this one.  This card was inspired by Shopping Our Stash.  And not just one gnome . . . but three.  Two are posing as elves.  One is posing as an elf in a tree costume?

I decided to angle them and pop them into a shaker as if they are all trying to give silly greetings.

I hope you find some time to create.

Gnome Better Holiday

I clustered some embellishments on a card for the Christmas Throwdown challenge.  For this one I decided to cluster them on one single tree, leaving the other trees bare.

I pulled a brand new kit (bought it a while ago, but had not cracked the seal) for this one.  I pulled the sequins in from my own stash.

Go create!

Plaid, Watercolor, Embossing and Distressing for Merry Monday

I absolutely hate when my job gets in the way of my craftiness . . . but I need one to support the other.  Harsh world.

All that said, I'm happy to find some time to post a few cards this week that I created for some challenges.  First up for this weekend is a card created for Merry Monday.  The challenge was to create a Christmas card with plaid.

I dug for plaid paper, and I don't own much of it.  Rarely does a piece of plaid paper scream "buy me".  But I found a piece!  It compliments my stamped and colored design well.

Now let's talk about that stamped design.  I saw a technique on StampNation that I had been wanting to try, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.  Watercolor paper . . . distress inks to color . . . and then the technique . . . four coats of clear embossing powder over the entire image . . . put it in the freezer and upon removing a few hours later, a little wiggling and bending to create the cracks.  I then ran a gray ink pad over it, which got in the cracks.  I wiped off the excess and began to put my card together.

I'm on the fence about the technique, but I will definitey try it again down the road.  It was fun to see where it would end up.

I hope you find some time to create . . . I'm heading back to the craft table right now.

World Card Making Day Challenge Cards - Take 2

Cards #3 and #4 from my StampNation challenges for last weekend's World Card Making Day event.

Here is my card for Switzerland.  I was inspired by a portion of some fabric that had a reindeer.  The actual challenge was more about the Edelweiss (queue Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer), but alas I was at a crop and had limited supplies.  And so I went with deer.

O.K., I went with moose . . . because I didn't have deer.  And then my awesome friend told me that a moose is a type of deer.  I googled it.  She was right!  She's amazing and awesome.

The deer were stamped in Versafine black ink and clear embossed.  I then used distress inks to watercolor.  I still need some work on grounding and background . . . working on it.

And my second card was inspired by plaid.  I looked for a stamp in my stash of supplies at the crop, but could only come up with a piece of plaid pattern paper.  It works!

Add a sentiment.  Queue some sequins and ribbon.  No stamping required!

I will share a few more cards tomorrow!

I hope you find some time to create this weekend.
