PDCC 83, Less is More

Hi all, today I have a card for a couple of my favourite challenges: Less is More and The Play Date Cafe Challenge. So here are the inspiration pics:

Less is More graphic:

And here's my take:

A white linen card base and panel stamped in Tuxedo black and coloured with my Faber Castell watercolour pencils. The stamp is by Whipper snapper Designs and is called Spring Squares.

I coloured the background on two of the squares and parts of the other two images in green, and whilst getting into this very simple colouring realised quite how intricate this design is. I now want to do this again, but in all the colours of the rainbow!

Finally added some flat backed pearls to the flower to finish my CAS card.

The Ribbon Reel Challenge #3

Hi all, well two weeks have flown by, and it's that time again for a new challenge from The Ribbon Reel Challenge.

This week for our challenge we have a wonderful sketch set by Clare Buswell at Clare's Creations.

I have kept it simple, sticking to the clean lines of the sketch, and using my favourite Waltzingmouse Stamps. So here's our sketch set by Clare:

And here's my take:

I was inspired by the beautiful ribbon pack sent to us by Keilly (owner of the Ribbon Reel shop and challenge) and also by a recent perfume purchase - Daisy by Marc Jacobs. I love the packaging of this perfume, clean and simple, elegant and grown up and simply gorgeous! So armed with the gorgeous champagne coloured ribbons and lace, I chose to make a card in black gold and cream, with lots of embossing a la Daisy!

I have stamped the beautiful border from Victorian Frippery several times in Versamark and embossed in gold and black embossing powder. Then hand trimmed and layered all together. It actually began with 4 strips of the border, but it was too big, so I had to cut it down a bit to get it onto a card!

Then on top of the borders I layered some gorgeous Stripy Twill and beautiful Guipure Lace from The Ribbon Reel.

I then stamped and gold embossed the large doily from Dainty Doilies Large and hand trimmed - I need to get some large scallop nesties lol!

Then layered this onto some black card and gold glittered scallopped card both cut with nesties.

Stamped and gold embossed the greeting from Fancy Phrases and again cut with nesties.

Finally mounted onto a piece of the glittery gold cardstock, and wrapped some Silky Wired Crush in champagne and tied a big bow.

Finished off the inside with some cream cardstock stamped with the corner doily image from Dainty Doilies Large, and the same sentiment.

To join the fun at The Ribbon Reel Challenge Blog see HERE for full challenge details and to see the gorgeous prize up for grabs!

And if you need any further inspiration, here are my fellow design team ladies, they have some gorgeous creations for Clare's sketch!

I loved seeing all your creations last week for our Shabby Strawberries and Cream, and can't wait to see your take on our wonderful sketch. Don't forget our challenge is two-weekly, so plenty of time to get your creative thinking hats on!

CR84FN 30, Less is More, The Secret Crafter

Hi all, today i have a card for a couple of my favourite weekend challenges - Less is More, and CR84FN.

This week Less is More want us to pick a square from the grid below, leaving the rest as white space, and Cr84Fn want the colours pale blue, yellow and kraft.

So here are the inspiration pics:

And here's my take:

I have made a masculine style thank you card, using the lovely colours from CR84FN this week.

I have used a white linen card base, and cut a smaller square in the same card and stamped a tartan pattern using two different Martha Stewart check backgrounds in Distress Ink Tumbled Glass and Memento Cantaloupe.

I then overstamped the sentiment in Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, added 3 blue gems and wrapped some jute twine around the panel and a couple of buttons to the bow.

I love how this turned out. I must admit that Clean and Simple doesn't come easily to me, and I do find that I just want to add more stuff to a card! However, less is More is gradually beating it into me that Less is really More, well, sometimes!

WMSC 48 and a few challenges

Hi all today I have a card made for the Waltzingmouse sketch challenge,. I've been meaning to get this in all week, but time flies when you're having fun!! So here it is by the skin of my teeth!

I have used this weeks colour inspiration from The Ribbon reel Challenge, set by Debbie Marcinkiewicz, of Shabby Strawberries and Cream.

Here's the inspiration pics:

And here's my take:

I have stamped a patterned background straight onto a white linen card base using my new Waltzingmouse stamps Dainty Doilies Large, in Memento Angel Pink and Versafine Smokey Grey.

Then stamped the cupcake image from WMS Frame-It! set in Memento London Fog, and gently coloured each row in different shades of pink frosting using Promarkers. I decided to leave the wrappers uncoloured, as I quite liked them in white! Then topped them off with some glitter glue.

The little cup is from WMS Afternoon Tea, and the sentiment is also from Frame-It!.

Finally made a ribbon strip and bow with some roses and some punched leaves, and voila!

The cream ribbon is from The Ribbon Reel, and there's still time to enter the challenge with a chance of a beautiful prize!

A card for a few challenges

Hi all, today I have a card for a couple of challenges. The main image has been coloured with Promarkers at my local Promarker group at Flutterby Crafts and is by Stamps Happen.

As the image is rather intricate, I have kept it sweet and simple by just layering onto some white damask flocked paper and mounting onto some lilac pearly cardstock.

To finish it off i have layered some white chiffon ribbon coloured with Tea Green Promarker with some lilac fancy ribbon.

I am entering this into the following challenges:

City Crafter - Frames - the image is a collage of frames

Crafty Catz - Anything Goes

Sweet Stampin Challenge - In the garden

Passion for Promarkers - All the 2's - I have used 2 ribbons and 2 layers.

Less is More, CR84FN 29, CAS-ual Fridays.

Hi all, I have another card for a few challenges today!! I know, shocker!!! My mojo is well and truly oiled today, and I have a few more ideas up my sleeve hee hee!!

Wel, the colours are inspired by the CR84FN graphic this week, and incorporates butterflies and bling for my other favourite challenges Less is More ans CAS-ual Fridays.

So here's the inspiration:

And here's my take:

I have used a butterfly stamp set that I bought last year in a sale, for about £3, reduced from £20 would you believe??!!

Ashamed to say I have never got round to using it, until today!

I stamped a variety of butterflies in Dusty Concorde and Rich Cocoa inks onto some kraft card and inked around the edges with Milled Lavender distress ink, then mounted this onto some plum Core'dinations cardstock which I had distressed to reveal the lilac middle.

Then layered this onto a kraft card base and inked the edges with a lilac chalk ink. Added the sentiment in Rich Cocoa, and lots of gems!

Finally stamped a little trail of butterflies inside.

A card for a few Challenges...

Hi all, today I have a card for a few challenges!

I was inspired this morning to play along with one of my favourite colour challenges CR84FN, with their colours of plum, light plum and kraft.

And here's my take:

I have used a kraft card base, and stamped two doily images from Waltzingmouse Stamps Dainty Doilies set, in Memento Rich Cocoa and distress ink Dusty Concorde.

I then cut two scalloped circles, one in plum felt, and a larger on in kraft card, then stitched together with my brand new sewing machine that I had for christmas! I'm slightly ashamed to say I have never used it before today, and I was very relieved to find it was easier than I thought!

I then stitched the panel onto the stamped kraft card stock - I found this difficult but only because I really didn't want to cover the beautiful pattern I made using the doily stamps!

The focal image is a stamp by Inkadinkadoo, and is coloured using Promarkers.

The sentiment is also from Dainty Doilies and the little tag is from WMS Bitty Banners, stamped in Dusty Concorde and Rich Cocoa.

Finally added some stickles for some shimmer!

WMS 2nd Birthday Tea Party!

Hi all, my crafty mojo has been sadly lacking of late, but I was determined to join the celebrations that Claire is hosting over at Waltzingmouse blog to celebrate 2 years of her shop, Waltzingmouse stamps. Well, as you may know if you're a regular visitor, I love WMS stamps and I had to join in!

Claire has asked us to make a project based on a tea party theme, using one of her digital downloads - and if you pop over to the store there's a tea-bag baggie FREE template to use too. The prize for this little competition is amazing - £200 of WMS goodies to choose from the store - how could I resist?!

So here's what I came up with. I did struggle at first, but after a couple of days my mojo was in full swing lol!

First of all, I made the little tea bag baggie. I love this little bag, it's so sweet! I have stamped the background from WMS Pic-nic Patterns in Frayed Burlap distress ink. Then distrssed all the edges in Antique Linen and a slight smidge of Walnut Stain.

Then stamped the frame from Very Vintage Label No 1 in Dusty Concorde distress ink, then sponged the edges with more Antique Linen.

Stamped the little cups from Afternoon Tea in various shades of lilac and purple - Milled Lavender, Purple Hydrangea and my unknown lilac from stash. Stamped the little tag and sentiment 'Tea' also from the same set.

Attached some roses and gems and added a leave stamped with WMS Text-it.

Finally added the little tea bag stamp and paper pieced the tiny label.

And here is the back:

The cup is again from WMS, Afternoon Tea Sentiments, coloured with Promarkers, and trimmed with a row of clear and lilac gems.

The sentiment label at the bottom is a mix of two stamps from Afternoon Tea - I just masked one of the labels so I just had the frame, and placed a different sentiment inside.

Then, as my mojo was in full flow, I thought I'd have a bash at the cup too.

This time I stamped the lovely background in lilac instead of Frayed Burlap, as I wanted a softer feel to it. Then I silver embossed the flourishes From Very Vintage Labels No 10 all around the saucer and the body of the cup.

I added some purple gems to the cup and saucer and some chiffon and satin ribbon to the handle, and finally added some lilac frogging(?) ribbon to the top and base of the cup.

Another couple of close ups!

I'm so glad I pushed myself to do this, my children are amazed by it!

Thanks for stopping by today, it's nearly the weekend, woo-hoo!!

The Ribbon Reel Challenge #2

Hi all, today brings us the second challenge from The Ribbon Reel, and this week's challenge has been set by Debbie Marcinkiewicz.

The photo inspiration is below, with the theme entitled 'Strawberries and Cream', yum yum!

And here's my card:

I have used a pearlescent cream card base, and embossed some cream Bazzill card with a Cuttlebug folder.

The patterned papers are from Dovecraft, and are called Tea House.

The cupcake stamp is from Papermania, and paper pieced with Tea House papers, and topped off with icicle and pink stickles.

I then layered the cupcake onto some pearly cream card and scalloped pink bazzill cut with nesties.

The beautiful ruffled pink ribbon and stripy twill is from The Ribbon Reel.

Finally added some candy dots in the corner.

To join the fun at The Ribbon Reel Challenge, please see HERE to enter and challenge rules. Challenges are two-weekly, and all entries are to be new work, and linked back to the Ribbon Reel Challenge site.

I will be entering this card into the following Challenges:

PDCC #81, WMSC #47, CAS-ual Fridays # 2, Totally Gorjuss, Fab 'n' Funky

Hi all, today I have a card for a few challenges. I can't believe it's been a whole week since I last posted or made anything, but my mojo has seriously gone for a burton!!

However, the weekend brings a couple of my fave challenges that I always turn to for inspiration, and I wasn't disappointed.

The colours are inspired by The Play Date Cafe, and the sketch is inspired by this weeks's Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge. I was also inspired by the new CAS-ual Fridays Challenge and Fab 'n' Funky challenges which want buttons and twine/bows.

So below are the inspiration pics:

And here's my take:

I have stamped the two large hearts from Waltzingmouse Sweethearts set in a continuous row, in Distress Ink Peeled Paint and a lilac ink from my stash with no name (!), then overstamped in Versamark and clear embossed. Then fussy cut into a long border and layered onto some lilac raffia mounted onto some matt silver textured cardstock from Papermania.

Then added some buttons and twine to each heart.

Mounted the heart border onto some lilac pearlescent cardstock, and stamped the sentiment from Waltzingmouse Stamps Fancy Phrases in Distress Ink Black Soot, and two little flourishes in silver ink.

Finally added two tiny dark grey pearls from Kanban.

I really love how this turned out, these colours are one of my favourite combinations!
