Design Team Delights for Challenge #14

It is time for my Design Team to share their favourite entries for Challenge #14.  As always, in each challenge you, the readers, get to voice your opinion by voting for your favourite and so it is only fitting that my Design Team get to do so as well.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to join along our Path during the month of May for Challenge #14.  While it is always a difficult decision, each team member managed to find a particular entry that really caught their attention.  Take a look...
Susan--chosen by Desíre and Pat...
Here is what Desíre had to say:
"Susan Kennedy is my DT Delight as this is what Susan emphasized and I totally agree":
"The More That You Read, The More Things You Will Know. The More That You Learn, The More Places You'll Go." -- Dr. Suess."
This is what Pat had to say:
"I'm a sucker for bookmarks, and hers are darling!"  Pat also loved the same line quoted above that Desíre did.

To see the details of Susan's creations and read more of what she had to say, click HERE.
Edwina--chosen by Suze, Vicky and Sandy...
Vicky had this to say:
"My DT delight would be Edwina Brown. I just love what she wrote":
"Wisdom  is found in many things.  Not just in books.  Yet the wisdom in books is only wisdom if it is applied and used for the good of all.  Wisdom is also common sense.  Without it you cannot act wisely. We all want wisdom.  I seek to learn new things.  Life has it to teach us every day.  Wisdom can be learned in the smallest things as well as in the biggest.  Only those seeking wisdom really receive it."
"And the sentiment she used on her creation was just perfect for this image."

Suze had this to say:
"My vote is for Edwina. I think she summed up everything in the paragraph outlined above.  I love the image too - reminds me of most of my family!"

Sandy said this:
"I love the boldness of the card and the sentiment is perfect...Also, her words (quoted above) convey so much."

To see the details of Edwina's creations and read more of what she had to say, click HERE.
Deanne--chosen by Monica...
Here is what Monica had to say:
"For my DT delight, I choose Deanne. I love the image and overall design of her card, but especially love her words of wisdom":
"Whatever you are be a good one".
To see the details of Deanne's card, click HERE.
K8--chosen by Lynda...
Lynda had this to say:
"I'm going with K8's Scrapcorner.  The Dave Winbaum quote, “The secret to a rich life is to have more beginnings than endings”, used on her project is fabulous.  Her focus on the quote and use of the  vintage brown and gold allow the focus to remain on the message of the card."

To see the details of K8's creation, click HERE.
Zella--chosen by Lisa (that's me)...
Zella left an awesome comment about her project on the Challenge #14 post.  She chose to honour her father and this is how she tied it into the theme of wisdom:
"...Thanks for a great challenge - a time to reflect - for me - about my dad. What a wise man! I am blessed to have been his daughter and honored that he chose me to be his own (I was adopted). He didn't have lots of letters after his name(degrees), but he taught me about being "human" - about caring for people, about God, about family, about working hard, and about what is important in this life. I am truly blessed because even though he passed away in 1991, he continues to influence me every day of my life - he was a wonderful father and a great man of God. Thanks for allowing me to participate in this challenge...and to reflect on what wisdom really means."
It was really nice to see that Zella chose the time to reflect on the wisdom that her father left her with.  Wisdom comes in so many forms and it is nice to see the kinds of wisdom that he imparted unto his daughter.

Creative Congratulations to all of you!

Thank you to everyone who played on our Pathway during the month of May.  As always we greatly appreciate you sharing your incredible talents with us.  Now if you were chosen as a DT Delight, you are eligible for a special DT Delight badge.  Additionally, if I can pull it off, I'm finally going to have the draw for all the past recipients in the DT Delight category next Sunday!  Remember, if you are chosen as a DT Delight during any of our challenges, your name will be entered into a draw.  You get one entry per choice; so, if two members picked your card, you will earn 2 entries, three members 3 entries, etc.  The winner at the time will be notified by email.  In the interim you are more than welcome to copy your framed card above and add it to your blog to share with all your readers; and, don't forget to email me at popwinners {at} gmail {dot} com (be sure to replace at and dot with the appropriate symbols) or by clicking HERE to bring the address up in your email program, for a copy of the special Challenge #14 DT Delight Badge.  I'm always running a bit behind these days, so your patience is appreciated.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope to back next Sunday with the special DT Delight Draw and then,  Monday, July 7th will see the start of Challenge #16.  We hope that you will join us then to learn what the newest theme will be.

Come Have Your Say! Voting for Challenge #14 now open!

Hello to you all.   I hope that everyone had a good weekend spent with people you love.   Right now, it is time to get the voting underway for Challenge #14.  Now I thought our numbers were low for Challenge #13 when we only had 19 entrants.  Last month was even lower with just seven! I guess people had a difficult time with the concept of wisdom.  It is unfortunate too given that right now is a prime season for making graduation cards but it makes the creations of those people who did enter, all that more special.

We had a similar low turnout this past fall and at that time the team decided to not choose a top seven and to open up the voting to every single participant.  This is what we will be doing this month as well; so, this means that all the entrants have the opportunity to be chosen as the Voter's Choice.

Since there is no top seven, I am simply going to list each of the entrant's names which is linked up to their blog post (order is reflective of how they entered the challenge and nothing else).
K8

Have Your Say!

It is time for you, our readers, to vote for your favourite entry.  So take a look at all the entries linked up above by heading over to the blogs and checking out their posts.  Which participant most inspires you?  Remember, you are not necessarily voting on a creation that was made.  You might simply find what the person had to say in their post to be inspiring and optimistic.  For this particular challenge, the theme was all about WISDOM.  Which participant best conveyed this concept to you?  Please be sure to go and check out the entries first and not just make your choices off of the thumbnails.  Once you have checked all the entries out,  let us know who your favourite choice is by placing your vote below using the Inlinkz feature.

Voting open for 7 days:
June 9th to June 16th
Come have your say in determining the Voter's Choice for Challenge #14!  Don't forget to leave a comment after you have voted.  There will be a prize for one lucky voter who leaves a comment (chosen randomly).  If you haven't had the opportunity to visit each of the seven choices already, please go and check them out a little more closely before placing your vote.  Once you have made your decision, why not go back and let them know how they inspired you.

Good luck everyone!

Important Note:

Please note that in order for this to work, I must add all the entries but I can only do this AFTER I have published this post.  So there will be some overlap time between when this post is published and when you will be able to vote.  Once I have uploaded the entries there will be a total of seven images below on which to vote.  As soon as all of them are uploaded, I'll enable voting to begin. If there are less than seven, it means that I am still in the process of adding the images and you should come back in a little while to make your vote.  Thank you for your patience!

Challenge #14--Midway Reflection & Voting Reminder

Hello everyone! We have reached the midway point of Challenge #14. The theme for this challenge is all about WISDOM. Today I am going to share a little introspection with you all that I am also presenting on my own personal blog in my "Motivational Monday" feature.

KNOWLEDGE, INTELLIGENCE & WISDOM

Knowledge, Intelligence, Wisdom.  While these words are often used interchangeably, they really mean different things.  Knowledge is the body of facts that we look to obtain through study or experience.  Intelligence is the capacity for being able to learn, reason and understand the body of facts before us.  Wisdom is the ability to make good judgements based on what you have learned from the knowledge you have gained.

There are some important distinctions to note.  Just because someone is intelligent, does not necessarily mean that the person will be wise, and on the flip side, just because someone is wise, does not necessarily mean that the person will be intelligent.  I have often been baffled by the fact that with many of the people I have met, it seems that the higher a person's IQ, the less wisdom they seem to display.   While their minds may be filled with knowledge, they often don't seem to have the ability to discern that information in order to make wise choices and decisions.  On the other hand, I have met people who never finished grade school, that happen to be among the wisest individuals I know.  Maybe it is because the person with the higher level of intelligence has only studied the possibilities whereas the wiser person has learned through their experiences and is thus better equipped to put their knowledge to use.  Being able to process through a large storehouse of facts, analyze that information and then utilize it effectively is definitely a skill that needs to be developed through time and experience.

Now to be fair.  There are people out there who display both a modicum of  intelligence and wisdom at the same time.  This certainly would be the ideal to strive for.  However, what if you could only choose to be one or the other.  The debate has raged on through the years as to whether it is more important to be intelligent or more important to be wise.  I don't think it will be settled any time soon.  Personally, I think that wisdom is more important than intelligence. Just having knowledge is not enough, one must be able to know what to do with it.  Of course, I've just covered the surface of this vast topic.  It would take years to fully research and delve into the roots of the subject.  Maybe if I ever get the opportunity to continue my degree in psychology, it is a subject I can further explore.  In the interim, I'd be interested to know your thoughts on the subject.  Intelligence or wisdom--which would you choose?

Challenge #14--WISDOM: May 5 - June 1, 2014

It is the first Monday in May and that means it is time for the next challenge to start.  This time around, for Challenge #14 the theme is "WISDOM".  Show us your interpretation of what wisdom means to you.  You can make any sort of project and/or post as long as it is positive in nature and relates to the theme.

Wisdom comes from experience.  We are not born being wise.  Yes, it is true that some individuals are born with larger brain capacity and will have larger IQ's.  However, brain power on its own does not guarantee that a person will act with wisdom.  It is only by living and gaining experience that we can truly become wise.  How will you interpret the idea of wisdom?  We look forward to seeing your projects and/or passages.

Don't forget when you link up your project and/or post, to please leave a comment letting us know how your creation relates to the concept of wisdom if it isn't readily clear within the design itself or clearly written somewhere else in your post.   Remember, the creation must be positive/inspirational/motivational AND adhere to the theme of wisdom in order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes.  While you may easily see how wisdom relates to your creation, it may not be as apparent to me or the DT members.  That is why we ask that you clarify it somewhere, whether here or in your blogpost.  This way it clears up any ambiguity that may exist.

Now it is time to meet our guest sponsor for this month.   Once again I am pleased to have with us...

South African crafters are new to the digital stamping world, with the first South African online digital image store launched in 2010 – Digistamps4Joy (or DS4J) http://www.digistamps4joy. co.za/eshop/ (clicking on the logo will take you to the store as well) .  In May 2012, Margy Kieser took over ownership of DS4J, and there are now two South African artists who contribute to the more than 600 images available. Margy has taken the store to new heights and the store now stocks digis that are cute, whimsical, artistic, sometimes serious, and sometimes humorous. The store has PAYPAL and EFT (South African) facilities.  Digistamps4Joy offers a monthly freebie on the first Friday of every month, and holds regular bi-weekly card challenges on our BLOG (http://digistamps4joy-sa.blogspot.com) that draws entries from all over the world. We are also active on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/DS4Joy) and Paper Craft Planet (http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/digistamps4joy).
The design team got the opportunity to work with one of the following two images this month.   First up we have the totally fabulous Dozy Owl...
http://digistamps4joy.co.za/eshop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=9
Hee, hee.  I just love this image.  Owls are often portrayed as a symbol of wisdom so Dozy is a wonderful choice for the team to work with.

Some of the DT also got to work with the image called Gramps...
http://digistamps4joy.co.za/eshop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=497
If wisdom mainly comes through experience, then an image of an aged individual is another great choice to showcase the concept of this month's theme.

Now our Guest Designer this month is on the DS4J team so she chose a different image to work with.  This image is called Cherry Blossom Time...
http://digistamps4joy.co.za/eshop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=15&products_id=159
While the image itself isn't a typical symbol of wisdom, it still works for the theme.  You'll just have to check out the card to see how.  But that is what is wonderful about our individual creativity!  Themes can be interpreted in such a variety of ways.  It is all how you, yourself, work it out, which is why we always ask for clarification if it isn't apparent.

If you are interested in purchasing any of these incredible images, clicking on the watermarks will take you to their location in the DS4J store.
Now check out what my amazing design came up with to inspire you.  Clicking on the team members' name will take you to their blog where you can check out the details for their inspirational creations...
