Polymeri Online 29.7.12 | Polymer IPOD case, Mokume on glass, Poinsettia and flowers, Before and after paintings

Polymer clay ipod case
Eten-Iren, mentioned several months ago made this colorful ipod case on a base plastic case - isn't this cool? I wonder if she made the roses, cured and then adhered them to the base case or placed it in the oven? I'll have to try curing some plastic cases and see if they are heat resistant :)

She is working with polymer, resin, paper and carton, I also liked her tourbillons beads, they remind me of flying skirts...

Everyone is talking about the heat all around, I am officially waiting for the winter, I think the clay will also appreciate it, have a great cool day!

Polymeri Online 13.12.10

Alessandro Marco from Italy is a long time cyber-friend, He was one of the first customers in my Etsy shop back in 2007.

He always thought that polymer clay is a magical material and his passion hasn't stopped since.
These days he is working on a Lamp collection made of polymer clay and glass. According to his process, he uses lamps with glass base , He attaches glass tiles to the base, wait a day, clean it all with some oily materials, and then place neon "fimo" or liquid "fimo" between the different pieces of colored glasses.

After that, the lamp will be sent for oven curing in not more than 100/120 Celsius for 20 minutes, when it is cooled it is cleaned up. Marco always gives a name to all his creations before going on sale! :)
Take a look at this Picasa gallery to see more photos -

Margit Böhmer from Germany, made this jewelry setcompletely from Polymer Clay, combined with glass beads. It is a "joint venture" between her and Tami Shvat, from Israel. Tami has made the face cane, according to her she doesn't have the patience and talent for cane work. The idea to make the necklace is inspired by Michael and Ruth Ann Grove

Ronna Sarvas Weltman

She uses sterling and fine silver, high quality semi-precious stones, precious metal clay, polymer clay, glass beads, bone, leather and found objects to craft one-of-a-kind artisan jewelry.

something interesting she said in her "about" page -

A friend once asked me … … if it's difficult to give up the pieces I've made. In fact, it's quite the opposite. What is most meaningful to me about making jewelry is sharing it with others, seeing them enjoying wearing it, hearing about the reaction they get when they give it as a gift. Nothing gives me more pleasure than knowing others are enjoying my jewelry.

Some History about the Millefiori?

From Wikipedia - Millefiori is a glasswork technique which produces distinctive decorative patterns on glassware. The term millefiori is a combination of the Italian words "mille" (thousand) and "fiori" (flowers). A. Pellatt (in his book "Curiosities of Glass Making") was the first to use the term "millefiori", which did not appear in the Oxford Dictionary until 1849. The beads were called mosaic beads before that time. While the use of this technique long precedes the term millefiori, it is now frequently associated with Venetian glassware.More recently, the millefiori technique has been applied to polymer clays and other materials. Because polymer clay is quite pliable and does not need to be heated and reheated in order to fuse it, it is much easier to produce millefiori patterns than with glass.
