Nude/Peach creme
Another Sparkle & Fade...
This one is a nude/peach creme. It reminds me of a really rich thick cream or vintage lingerie. But more peach!
Application was ok, this swatch is 3 coats, no top coat. Not sure how well this works with my skintone but I do like it.
I also found this article from Elle UK back in 2008 which seems to indicate that Models Own was first launched into Urban Outfitters - so is it a coincidence that the bottles for Sparkle & Fade are the same as Models Own?!

Models Own - Utopia
Greyed pale pink/lilac creme
I really thought I'd blogged this one years ago, but couldn't find it anywhere so here it is (maybe again!)
Utopia is a pretty unusual colour that totally works. I'd say it was a pale pink leaning lilac that definitely has a hint of grey in there that stops it looking too 'standard' if you know what I mean.
Application was ok, although it did take 3 coats and I needed to add topcoat to smooth it all out, but it looks fab after all that!
And could this be the closest polish name to my blog name?!

Models Own - Top Turquoise
Muted turquoise creme
Top Turquoise is a mid, muted turquoise creme, which is slightly unshiny when dry.
For me this was opaque in 2 coats but nearly all the other swatches I saw were 3 coats - weird
This is another old one (2009ish) and doesn't seem to be available on the Models Own site anymore...

Models Own - Purple Poppy
Pink toned purple creme
Not much to say about this, it's a somewhat unusual mid pinky toned purple creme.
Swatch show is 2 coats, with no top coat - and it's super shiny!
Application was fabulous, one of those Models Own that totally belie their low price.
I've been having a few problems with FF and Chrome reporting malware on this site - pretty sure it's all coming from links in my blogroll so I'm removing them as I get notified - but let me know if you're still getting issues with my site - thanks!

Models Own Beetlejuice S/S 2012 - Tropical Sun
Peach shimmer with gold shimmer and silver glitter
The last of the Spring/Summer 2012 Beetlejuice colours is Tropical Sun
Tropical Sun is a peach with masses of gold micro shimmer and some slightly unexpected fine silver glitter, best seen in the 4th swatch pic.
Again the swatch is 3 coats with no top coat.
I think this one will look gorgeous on toes or with a bit of a tan (fake or otherwise!)
This one is definitely the least duochrome
Overall I'm very happy with these new colours. They're suitably summery colours to reflect that it's a Spring/Summer collection. They're still not massively opaque but they're pretty fast drying and for me all the colours are worth the time to do 3 coats. I haven't done a wear test yet, will report back if the wear is extreme, bad or good!
What do you think of the collection, will you be making a home for them?

Models Own Beetlejuice 2012 - Copper Pot
Bronze shimmer with gold/green duochrome shimmer
The second of the three new colours in the Beetlejuice collection is Copper Pot
Copper Pot is a warm bronze with gold/green duochrome shimmer. The duochrome is supplied by masses of sparkly shimmer and is reasonably strong. Again it looks wonderful in and out of sunlight.
Swatch show is 3 coats with no top coat.

Models Own - Beetlejuice 2012 - Indian Ocean
Sheer blue/grey duochrome
Upfront warning, this is a sheer polish. This is a duochrome/multichrome polish. I took pictures both sheer and layered. There are *lots* of pictures!
Last year Models Own launched a very successful collection of 5 polishes (which I haven't yet posted swatches of but I know you've all seen them already!)
This year, as a Spring/Summer 2012 Collection, they announced the addition of 3 new Beetlejuice polishes Indian Ocean, Copper Pot and Tropical Summer.
First up is Indian Ocean, in my view the prettiest and most duochrome of the three. And the most sheer.
First up I tried it alone - these swatches are 3 coats with no top coat. As you can see it's pretty sheer with loads of visible nail line. And I think my delightfully stained nails may make it look greener than it is. I've seen other blogs that went up to 5 coats, but it was not fully opaque.
Oooooh, but look at the pretties...
To me, Indian Ocean is a sheer grey toned blue with masses of pink/gold duochrome shimmer. Models Own describe it as "a calming iridescent blue with soft pink undertones"
So then I thought I'd try layering it. First over a mid blue, OPI What's With the Cattitude. In hindsight this blue was a bit too bright and strong.
This is 2 coats over 3 coats of What's With the Cattitude.
Then I tried it over a more muted, but slightly too dark blue - Nails Inc Queensgate Terrace, a slighty dusky, mildy periwinkle mid blue creme
Again two coats over 2 coats of Queensgate Terrace.
Finally I thought I'd give it some underwear and try it over a nude base, Nails Inc Instyle Bare
Again 2 coats, over 2 coats of Bare. I think this is close to the bottle colour but not quite there, perhaps a pale grey would work...?
But what can I say, it's gorgeous, if a little tricky!
The duochrome is fantastic, sparkly, foily with a strong colour change and it's looks gorgeous in sunlight and shade.
Make sure you pick this one up, just don't bother with it alone, layer it up!

Models Own - Raspberry Crush
Bright pink jellyish creme
Something bright and cheery to belatedly kick of the New Year
Models Own Raspberry Crush is a bright jelly/creme. It's super shiny but probably could've done with another coat. I find the jelly always looks more pronounced in photos than on your nails.
I'd say it was a little more pink toned IRL.
Swatch shown is 2 coats, no top coat.

Models Own - Nude Beige
Nude creme
Models Own Nude Beige is one of those 'does what it says on the bottle'. It's a lovely, easy to apply nude beige creme.
Swatches are 2 coats, no top coat and as you can see it's lovely and shiny.
I really like this one, as you know I'm a big fan of taupe/mushroom polishes and although this one is lighter than most it still has a hint of grey to stop it being BBB

Models Own - Bloo
Pale blue creme
I really wanted to like this, but unfortunately the secret shimmer visible in the bottle wasn't visible at all on the nail.
I suppose you could argue that it adds a depth to the polish but I would really have preferred it to be a bit more in your face.
This was 2 coats, no top coat.
Apologies for the rather sporadic posting, work has been super hectic and then tomorrow I'm off to Turkey with my beloved for a week of R&R. Hooray! We need it....

Models Own Pro - Stormy Night
Dark grey shimmer with hidden pink glitter
The second of the Models Own Pro range I picked up was Stormy Night.
In the bottle it's a promising grey shimmer with fine sparkly pink glittery pieces.
Unfortunately once on the nail the pink sparkles all but disappear
Now it just looks like a regular grey shimmer.
Application was great. Swatch is 2 coats with top coat to try and bring out the sparkles, in vain.
Overall this was a disappointment, you can't really see the pink at all, it just looks grey.
Thumbs down from me.
