Essie - Leggy Legend

Old Gold shimmer

Happy Halloween folks!  I'm not a big fan of Halloween, although it's become a much bigger deal here in the UK recently, but we also celebrate Bonfire Night, which is this weekend when I'll head down to Kent for the annual family firework party.

Despite that  I thought I'd post something vaguely seasonal for today!

Leggy Legend is a pretty,  almost metallic shimmer in an old gold shade.

Application was good and this is 2 coats, no top coat.

Leggy Legend is from the Fall 2015 collection.

Butter London - Posh Bird

Smoky lilac foil shimmer

Posh Bird is a lovely polish but somewhat tricky to describe.

There's purple there and some grey and maybe a bit of taupe/mushroom.  And it's packed with foily shimmer which mostly looks silver but sometimes duochrome goldish as you can see in my bottle shots.

Either way, it's gorgeous - easy to apply and very opaque.  Swatches shown are two coats with no top coat.

Posh Bird was first released as an exclusive in the US for NY Fashion Week back in 2012.   Unfortunately it's no longer available from Butter London and doesn't seem to pop up very often on eBay in the UK.

Any dupe suggestions for anyone who's fallen in love with this one?

And as for that name?  Ha, I am so far from being a Posh Bird!

Mavala - 135 Amber Drop

Copper shimmer

Amber Drop is a gorgeous gold leaning metallic copper shimmer.  The colour and finish are very glowy and the shimmer almost seems suspended in the polish.  And somehow it doesn't look terrible with my cool-loving skintone!

Application was good, despite the size of the brush and the brush strokes aren't too bad.

And this was pretty much a one-coat wonder!  I did two coats for the swatches for completeness.

GOSH - Frou Frou

Metallic silvery pink foil

More old swatches, again from 2009!  I haven't had the time or nails to do much swatching recently so I'm digging through my old, unposted pics.

This one is  quite a win, it's Frou Frou from GOSH.  Frou Frou is a silvery pale pink metallic polish that dries smooth.  Is it a metallic or a foil? Or are they the same thing?

Swatches are 3 coats with no top coat but it's easy to apply and fast to dry.

Kleancolor - Metallic Fuchsia

Foil finish fuchsia

My first Kleancolor on the blog, from my small collection of foil finish polishes from this US brand that I picked up somewhere random.

Metallic Fuchsia is a shimmer/foil finish cool, purple leaning fuchsia.

Swatches shown are 2 coats with no top coat.

I like the colour/finish but boy this polish has a super strong, chemical scent and takes forever to dry!
And to add insult to injury it stained my nails even with basecoat!

Probably why I've only swatched one of this collection so far!

MeMeMe - Lapis

Frosty pale blue

Oh dear, this, the last of the vintage MeMeMe's is not so much of a win.

Lapis is a metallic/frost pale blue that looks almost silver in direct sun.

Swatches are 2 coats with a lot of brush marks.  Perhaps top coat would've helped with this one?

Nailgirls - Taupe #1

Metallic taupe

So Taupe #1 - is it taupe?  It seems to be more of a beige/grey shade but I suppose the purple tones in taupe aren't always visible in lighter shades.

Nailgirls descibe it as metallic mushroom which kinda fits...

I like it despite it being a bit frosty and a bit brushstrokey

Swatch shown is 2 coats, no top coat as usual

W7 - Metallic Saturn

Green/olive metallic shimmer

I featured the other W7 Metallics earlier this year but somehow this one missed out.  Although part of the same collection this one isn't anything like as duochrome as the others.  You can just see a hint of duochrome in the first pic

Instead Metallic Saturn is a gorgeous, lit from within, green/olive/gold metallic shimmer

Application was good, swatch is only 2 coats with no top coat.  And look how shiny it is?!

Accessorize - Sapphire

Blue/grey metallic finish

Accessorize describe this as a 'Metalized  One coat polish'

And they're pretty on the nose, this is just one coat and it definitely has a metallic style finish.

It is slightly brushstrokey, but nothing too terrible

Sapphire is not the colour of sapphires but is a very pretty deep blue/grey - I love this kind of colour, maybe because it's one of 'my' colours (according to the colour analysis I had done a few years ago)

W7 - Metallic Jupiter

Dark plum foil duochrome

The last of my W7 metallics - Metallic Jupiter

Jupiter is a return to the foily metallic finish from W7.

Jupiter is a dark plum with a hint of copper duochrome

Swatch shown is 2 coats with no top coat and application was great.

I also tried this one out with a pinky gold crackle from P2

Without topcoat

With a coat of Seche Vite

I'm not really a fan of crackle but this one intrigued me with its mixture of pinky lilac base and gold foily shimmer.  It definitely looks better with the Seche Vite in my view!

W7 - Metalllic Venus

Purple/plum shimmer

Venus is another of the W7 Metallics but this time there's no foil in sight. There is still a hint of duochrome, though not massively visible in my pics I'm afraid.

Venus is a shimmery purple/plum colour with a darker plum and brown/copper duochrome that's much more visible in the bottle.

Application was good, swatches shown are 2 coats, no top coat.

They might not be super innovative colours but I do think W7 make some great polishes for their price point.

Nails Inc November - Mirror Metallic - Primrose Park

Blue metallic/chrome finish shimmer

Primrose Park is another of the Mirror Metallic collection I picked up from QVC.

This one is slightly different from Swiss Cottage that I showed the other day and Stratford (that you haven't seen yet) in that I couldn't see any duochrome in this one

That said, it is still scrumptious!

Full sun

The pink in this is just the reflection of my top!

Primrose Park is a glowy metallic blue.  Application was good, not as good as a regular nails inc creme as it was slightly gloopy but nothing too awful.  And miraculously for a chrome/metallic finish it's barely brushstrokey at all!

Swatch shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

Nails Inc November - Special Effects/Mirror Metallic - Swiss Cottage

Green/Gold/Turquoise Duochrome Metallic

Swiss Cottage is one of 3 polishes I picked up recently from QVC as a Mirrored Metallic Collection and it's definitely the stand-out although perhaps not too unique.

And being a duochrome I took lots of pics to capture the colour shift.

Bottle Shot

Full Sunlight

Swiss Cottage has a base green colour which sometimes looks more blue/green with a strong gold duochrome.

Swatch is 2 coats with no top coat.

In the sunlight picture it loses all the duochrome but shows a very pretty fine sparkle.

It's definitely in the same family as Chanel's Peridot (and dupes) although I think Swiss Cottage might be more green/blue leaning and less warm gold than Peridot, but only a comparison will tell!
