White Space - Red

Bright red crelly

'Red' is a classic mid-toned red in a jelly finish,  application was good although there were a few rogue hairs in the brush.

Swatches shown are 3 coats, there was just too much VNL at two coats for me!  No top coat but it's super shiny without.

White Space Beauty is not a brand I've come across before - I picked this up on a whim at TK Maxx - and their branding/style is certainly interesting.

The bottle itself is completely blank on the front,  there's a label on the back with the shade name, Red, and the inci.

The company is registered to an address in Essex that looks like a residential property (gotta love a google maps snoop!).

I presume they've gone out of business as the website address now redirects to KeepMe Cosmetics, a white label manufacturer who seem to manufacture products/packaging for ModelsOwn, Ciate, Nip&Fab and Lottie.

I Heart Makeup Nail Geek - Out of Bounds

Raspberry pink jelly

Oh dear.  I'm not the biggest fan of jelly's and this one certainly didn't change my mind

Out of Bounds is a raspberry pink jelly.  Swatches shown are 3 coats and I've still got very visible nail line, not totally unexpected with a jelly.

It is squishy and shiny but it also stained something terrible despite using my normal swatching basecoat of  OPI Natural Nail Base.

Grrrggh, this was not a win for me and went straight into the donation bag!

I Heart Makeup is a sister brand to Makeup Revolution and I assume is aimed at a slight younger audience?  The Nail polishes aren't on the website any more so I'm assuming they got discontinued.

Nails Inc November - Eaton Mews

Raspberry pink jelly with fine sparkles

Eaton Mews is a jelly leaning raspberry with lots of fine shimmer - the shimmer is gold and pink.

Swatches are 2 coats with no top coat and it is fairly sheer/jelly so there's some VNL.  But it's also lovely and shiny.

Probably not super unique but very pretty.

Vintage Valentines - Revlon Streetwear - Scary 061

Luscious blood red jelly

Revlon Streetwear is definitely one of my favourite vintage brands.

As I'm sure most of you know, Street Wear was Revlon's answer to the Hard Candy and Urban Decay's of this world back in the 90's.

And boy did they come out with some amazing polishes.  Please go check out Kaz of Pretty Random's reference guide

I have a very modest collection of about 25 polishes, mixed between the US and European releases and I've shared a few swatches before.

But for Friday the 13th and  (nearly) Valentines this polish seemed very appropriate.

Scary is a stunning blood red jelly.

Perfect in 2 coats, application was a dream and look at that shine!  Especially as I took these pictures today in natural light and it's been grey and rainy for most of the day here.

Sadly most of the Streetwears are very hard to come by now although a few pop up on ebay now and again.

And oddly, although the brand disappeared many years ago, Revlon launched (or relaunched?) the Street Wear brand in India in 2014.  But sadly with tiny bottles of what look like standard colours....

What's your favourite vintage brand?

Vintage Valentines - Mary Quant - B11

Soft blue/green jelly

This may be the newest Vintage Valentine I'm going to share but I don't feel too bad as Mary Quant is a very vintage brand!

This polish is, I think from 2008, but Mary Quant has had a cosmetics line, off and on, since 1966 and the lady herself opened her first shop in 1955!

I remember when the bottles looked like this...

But sadly don't have any...

But the signature black daisy is still around.  In fact on the version I have the (removable) cap is shaped like the daisy.

The bottles have changed again since I bought these and are now an even less interesting design..

Here's the brochure I picked up when I bought them - toy soldiers with nail polish hats?!

Anyhow, on to the swatches

Sadly the polishes don't have names, only numbers.

B-11 is a soft sage green jelly that I think looks more blue in my pics.

It's very shiny and slightly squishy.  Application was good, if a little scarily thin on the first coat.

Swatches shown are 3 coats, with no top coat.

I bought this and 3 others from the Mary Quant store in London, before it moved to it's current location in Chelsea.

The cosmetics company is now wholly owned by a Japanese company and there are many stores in Japan, but I believe the shop in Chelsea is the only one outside Japan.

Nails Inc - Queenstown Road

Darkish red crelly

Sorry folk, life (and work) got in the way.  I did pick up a small haul on my work trip to Germany (pics coming) but otherwise it's been a polish free time - more nail breaks, not sure what's going on there..

Queenstown Road is a darkish red creme with jelly tendancies aka a crelly.

Application was good, swatches shown are 2 coats without topcoat.  Being a crelly it's super shiny.

I like this one, it has a classic, elegant feel.

I think this one might've been a QVC exclusive from a few years and sadly doesn't seem to be easily sourced today....

Nails Inc November - Grove Cottages

Gorgeous red jelly with glitter

Grove Cottages
is a fabulous red jelly with silver and pink glitter.

Swatch show in 2 coats with no top coat.  You are left with a slightly bumpy finish so it would probably benefit from a good self-levelling topcoat.   There is also a smidge of vnl but I don't care!

How gorgeous is this?  I'm not much of a jelly fan but I love this combination of finishes, glitter and colour - just awesome...

This polish was part of the Nails Inc Summer Collection this year, sadly it doesn't seem to available separately which is a shame because it's stunning.

Barry M Superdrug Limited Edition 2013 - Fluorescent Pink

Fluoro pink jelly

Barry M - Superdrug Limited Edition 2013 Pink was a freebie available from Superdrug with a certain spend, £6 IIRC.

It's a pale fluorescent pink jelly with a special zebra print lid.

It's a jelly so not totally opaque after 3 coats.  No top coat.

Nails Inc - Royal Ascot

Red jelly

"It's not Ascot Week until you've seen a drunk woman carrying her shoes"

It's Royal Ascot this week and I live in Ascot!  Unfortunately when you live in the area, Ascot Week is a an ordeal to be battled through due to the traffic and general chaos.

I read somewhere that over 1/2 a million people descend on Ascot during the 5 days of racing - that's a lot of people for a very small town.  The races finish around 5.30 and then there's a steady stream of often progressively drunk folk attempting to get home.

The ideal situation is either to go on holiday or to stock up and not leave the house till it's all over!

I'm not much of a fan of jellys but a couple of these were cheap on the nails inc site when I was ordering something else so I thought I'd give them a spin.

Royal Ascot is a tomato red jelly.  For some reason it's also known as Cherry Juicy Sheer on the nails inc site.  In my pics it definitely looks more tomato red but IRL it's definitely more pinkish red.

Swatch shown is 3 coats, the first coat is very sheer but there wasn't much difference between 2 and 3.

I actually quite like this and despite the name tying in with my week I think the Juicy Sheer name is very descriptive - this has very juicy qualities.

Red for Valentine's - Barielle - Mazie Rose

Bright red crelly

Happy Valentine's Day all!

My man is away in Dublin for Valentine's (boo) so I'm off out to for dinner and the flicks with my BFF (yay)

So here's a quick post to share a lovely red from Barielle

Mazie Rose is a gorgeous bright red jelly/creme.

Swatch shown is 2 coats except for index finger which is 3 - my index finger always has a more visible nail line for some reason!

One day my nails will all be this long again, at the moment I have some long and some shorter - which to some I know is a total nail crime!

Nails Inc November - Pimlico Road

Red flaky shimmer jelly

Just 3 more days of Nails Inc November left...

Next up is Pimlico Road

Pimlico Road is a orangey red jelly with red, pink and gold flaky shimmer

Swatch shown is 3 coats with no top coat.  I'd probably advise you apply this over a coat of underwear polish if the slight vnl is going to bother you.

It doesn't bother me as it's so sparkly and glossy and really the vnl only shows up in full sunshine...

Nails Inc November - Dulwich

Nude jellyish creme

Dulwich (the w is silent so it's like dull-itch rolled together!) is a nude creme with more than a hint of jelly.  Look how shiny it is!

This one definitely works as a mannequin hands polish or BBB (Band-aid But Better) with my skintone

Swatch shown is 2 coats with no top coat.

I don't know much about Dulwich the place, it's in South London and Enid Blyton was born there...
