Essie The Girls Are Out

How's everyone's Monday going so far?  Today I have another polish from the Essie Naughty Nautical Summer 2013 collection to show you.

The Girls Are Out is a plum crelly with silver microshimmer.  The shimmer is more noticeable in this polish than in Sunday Funday.  I found the formula to be thin and that it likes to pool and drag on the nail if you have too much on the brush.  I definitely recommend thinner coats to avoid this.  Otherwise though application is good.
I used 2 coats in the photos below over Finger Paints base coat.  I was good with two coats, but some of you might prefer 3.

Ninja Polish Nebula

Happy Friday all.  I hope you all have had a good week.  Aside from a migraine early in the week mine's been pretty good, just busy.  Today I have a gorgeous polish from Ninja Polish to show you.  For those of you not familiar with Ninja Polish they carry not only their own brand of polish, but also some other indie polish brands and brands from other countries that are harder to get in the US.

Nebula is a multi-chrome holographic glitter polish.  The base is clear and jam packed with tiny glitters that shift from green to teal to purple and some holographic glitters.  It's sheer enough that you can use it as a glitter top coat over another polish but can also be built up and worn on its own.  If you want to wear it alone I would suggest thicker coats to keep down the number of layers.  You will still have a few sparse spots, but this polish is so sparkly and blingy that you won't notice them for the most part.
I found the formula to be good and application was easy, especially for a glitter polish.  For the photos below I used 3 coats of Nebula over a base of Orly Bonder and Duri Rejuvacote.  For my topcoat I did one layer of Gelous to help smooth out everything and a final layer of NYC Grand Central Station for a quick dry time.

Indoor Blurred

I did a blurred shot to show you the holographic glitters.  Please click on the photos above for an enlarged view to see the color shift better.  I wore this as my Fourth of July mani to give a fireworks effect to my nails.  I loved the color shift and rainbows that showed up in all different types of lighting.  The biggest issue I had was how distracting it was, especially when I was driving.  The colors are extremely hard to capture in photos and trust me this is much more beautiful in person.  If you like multi-chromos or holographic glitters, I highly recommend Nebula.  The price was $9 plus a few dollars for shipping, which I found very reasonable for an indie polish.

Color Club Eternal Beauty

I have one last polish from the Color Club Halo Hues collection to show you today.  At least for now.  I'm sure I'll pick up more in the future.  I really am a sucker for a good holo polish.

Eternal Beauty is a medium purple linear holo.  Once again, the holo flame is very strong.  Formula and application were both really good.  I had no streaking or cuticle drag.  I used 3 coats in the bellow photos, but I probably would have been fine with just 2.  My base coat was Nail Tek Foundation II and I did not use a top coat.

Purple and holo, of course I'm in love.  I have several other similar shades of purple holo, but this is definitely the strongest.
All three of the Halo Hues colors I bought dry very quickly.  This comes in handy if you don't like using a top coat over holo polishes since some top coats can dull the holo effect.

China Glaze Modify Me

The second polish from the China Glaze Tranzitions collection I have to show you is Modify Me.

Modify Me is a light blurple, not quite periwinkle, with a silver/pearl shimmer without top coat.  Formula and application were pretty good, but you will see a few brush strokes.  I used 2 coats of Modify Me over Finger Paints base coat.

Once you add top coat, Modify Me becomes more purple.  The color difference is pretty noticeable with top coat, but again the polish becomes more streaky with the addition.  I used China Glaze Fast Forward top coat and used different techniques on each finger.

I like both colors of Modify Me, with and without top coat.  I would like it better if top coat didn't add streaks.

Zoya Lovely Part 2

The second part of the Zoya Lovely collection for Spring 2013 consists of 3 pastel metallic shimmers.  The formula and application was good for all 3 shades though dry time was a bit slow.  There is a small silver shimmer in all 3 shades which likes to stick to your skin after cleanup until you can wash your hands.  I used Finger Paints base coat, 2 coats of polish, and no top coat for all of these photos.

Piaf

Piaf is a creamy yellow.  I experienced some cuticle drag during application.

Gei Gei

Gei Gei is a light pink.  When I put this on I immediately had the feeling of having princess nails.

Julie

Julie is a light purple close to a lilac.

Julie is of course my favorite of this collection.  But I was surprised by how much I liked Gei Gei as well.  The metallic half of the Lovely collection overall has the better formula and application, but I think Blu is a good option if you are looking for a pastel blue.

Seche Aristocrat

Happy Monday again everyone.  I hope you all had good weekends.  Mine was pretty good.  Hockey is back, FINALLY, and my Sharks won their first game.  Oh, and the 49ers are going to the Superbowl, though honestly I'm not really a football fan.  Sunday was a good day for Bay Area sports.
I have a polish from the new-ish Seche color collection.  I say new-ish because they released the colors last year in October.   Today I have Aristocrat for you.

The Seche colors are listed as fast drying one coat polishes.  Aristocrat is a deep dusty purple with silver shimmer.  Application was smooth and the formula was good, just a touch on the thick side.  It dried fairly quickly, but not as quickly as their Vite top coat does.  I did only need 1 coat of polish for full opacity.  I used Finger Paints base coat and no top coat for these photos.

There are 33 colors in the new polish line from Seche.  Aristocrat appealed to me the most color wise, but based on application, I'm definitely willing to try more of the line.  I found these at a local beauty supply and I want to say I paid around $4 or so for Aristocrat.  I believe they retail for $8.50 however and should be available at Ulta soon.

Zoya Diva Collection Part 2

Today I have the second half of the Zoya Diva collection for Fall 2012 to show you.  I used Finger Paints base coat and no top coat for all swatches.

Ray

Ray is a deep forest green shimmer.  This is darker than a Christmas green.  I didn't have any issues with formula or application.  I did notice a bit of streaking if I used thin coats and there are a few more brush strokes than the other shimmers in this collection.  I used 2 coats for these photos.

Fei Fei

Fei Fei is a blue based grey toned micro glitter with gold and pink particles.  I want to call the base almost steel colored.  It's very hard to describe, at least for me.  I used 3 coats for these photos, but you could probably get away with 2 coats if you use thick, even coats.  I had no issues with formula or application.

Daul

Daul is a purple micro glitter with gold particles.  There's a lit from within quality from the gold.  My brush is a bit wonky, but aside from that I had no issues with formula or application.  I used 3 coats for these photos.

Fei Fei is by far my favorite of the entire Diva collection.  If you haven't picked it up yet you should.  My pictures really don't do the polish true justice.

Zoya Diva Collection Part 1

Hello my lovelies!  I am feeling much better, and bored out of my mind sitting at home all day aside from a couple doctors appointments.  I know these swatches are a little late, but I wanted to make sure I got them up for you all before the Zoya sale ends.  I'll put up a quick info post on that soon too if you haven't heard about it yet.
The Diva collection for Fall 2012 contains 6 polishes that are a mixture of shimmers and micro glitters.  All swatches are over Finger Paints base coat and have no top coat.

Elisa

Elisa is a vibrant Christmas-y red shimmer.  I used 2 coats for these photos, but I'm not sure the 2nd was necessary.  It darkened the polish a bit, but didn't really add much opacity wise.  My brush feels a little off- almost mop-like- but even with that application was very smooth and the formula was great.

Suri

Suri is a blue-based royal purple shimmer.  Royal is a good description because when I look at this polish I think monarchs and throne rooms and all that stuff.  The formula feels a little runny and  tends to catch on the brush bristles so make sure you wipe your brush down well.  This is 2 coats.

Song

Song is a very vibrant sapphire blue shimmer.  The formula was a little runny again and if you go over an area you've already polished it can drag some.  Just wait a little longer between coats and you shouldn't have too much issue with that.  Dry time was longer than normal as well.  You might want to double up on the base coat as this one does have staining potential.  I used 2 coats for these swatches.

All three of these polishes are very lovely, but Song is my favorite of them.  What about all of you?  Which is your favorite?  Anyone try any of these yet?
