China Glaze Fancy Pants and Scattered & Tattered

PRESS SAMPLES

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you all have fun plans for the weekend.  Today I'm bringing you the last of my China Glaze Avant Garden and Glitz collection swatches.

Fancy Pants is a blurple polish with a pink shimmer.  The base is mostly purple with strong hints of blue.  Application was good and the formula wasn't as runny as Sunday Funday.  The hubby actually liked this color which gives it bonus points in my book.  You do need a top coat with this one.  The polish dries a bit matte/not as shiny as the rest of the collection.  I used 2 coats of polish over Finger Paints base coat.  I did not use a top coat in these photos.

Scattered & Tattered is a red and black glitter mix from the Glitz collection.  The glitter mix is the same as the rest of the collection.  The formula is on the thicker side like Razzle Me, Dazzle Me.  This is another one that needs thinner before use.  Also like the rest of the collection, a dabbing method of application will give you the best results.  I used one coat over Fancy Pants and no top coat in the following photos.

China Glaze Sunday Funday and Graffiti Glitter

PRESS SAMPLES

How's everyone's week going?  Good I hope.  I'm in the middle of Semi-Annual Sale at work which is always one of our busiest times of the year.  So a fun bright blue is just what I need right now.

Sunday Funday is a bright aqua creme from the Avant Garden collection.  Application was nice, but the formula was a bit runny.
Have any of you been having brush issues lately with China Glaze?  I've gotten several bottles lately, this one included, where my brush is kind of mop-like.  By that I mean the bristles are really fluffy and soft so they soak up a lot of extra polish and spread the polish out too much.
I used 2 coats of polish over Finger Paints base coat and no top coat in the following photos.

Graffiti Glitter is an emerald green and black glitter mix from the Glitz collection.  The glitter mix is the same as the rest of the collection.  The formula was on the thinner side again.  For application I dabbed one thick line down the center of each nail and then brushed out to the edges to get desired coverage.  This is one coat over Sunday Funday and no top coat in the following photos.

China Glaze Budding Romance and Razzle Me, Dazzle Me

 PRESS SAMPLES

I have been so busy lately it's crazy.  I'm not even sure what day it is most of the time.  I hope you've all been well.  I'm going to try to finish up my China Glaze Avant Garden and Glitz collection reviews this week.  Posts will probably remain a bit sporadic for a while after that unfortunately.  I'm hoping though to get in a routine soon, or that work will settle down some, so I can get back on track with reviews.  If there are any polishes or collections that anyone would specifically like to see, please post a comment and I will make sure to put them on the top of my list.

Budding Romance is a moss green jelly from the Avant Garden collection.  This is a very yellow based green.  Formula and application are good.  Because this is a jelly, you will need more coats for full coverage.  I used 3 coats over Finger Paints base coat in the photos below.  I did not use a top coat.

Razzle Me, Dazzle Me is a mix of extremely pale pink and black glitter from the Glitz collection.  The glitters are a mix of multi-size and color hex glitters and small black bar glitters.  The formula is thicker on this polish than the previous ones from the collection and gives more dense coverage.  I'm planning to add thinner before I use it again.  The dabbing method instead of brushing directly on the nail still works better though.  The following pictures are one dabbed coat over Budding Romance.

Budding Romance is what I would call an ugly pretty color.  I really like it, but it's not a traditionally pretty shade.  It reminds me of new plant growth, especially leaves.  My favorite part though is that it's a jelly.  I added one more thin coat over Razzle Me and I think it makes a really nice combo sandwiched like that.

What do you all think?  Are you fans of the jelly sandwich look?  Let me know what you think.

China Glaze Mimosas Before Manis and Glitz N Pieces

PRESS SAMPLES

The actual name of one of the polishes I'm showing you today is Mimosa's Before Mani's, but the grammar of that name bothers me too much to type more than once, so I'm going to fix it for my post.

Mimosas Before Manis is a pinkish coral with subtle shimmer from the Spring 2013 Avant Garden collection.  It's warm and bright, but not a neon.  The formula was a little runny and I had some streaks with the first coat of color.  But those evened out with the second coat.  The below photos are 2 coats of polish over Finger Paints base coat and no top coat.

Glitz N Pieces is a mix of black and silver glitters.  The glitters are a mix of large and small hex glitters in both sizes and short bar glitters in black.  The formula wasn't bad, but a bit thin so the glitters want to pull to the edge of your nails.  Once again I used a dab/brush combo for application to get the best results.  Below is one coat of Glitz over Mimosas Before Manis and no top coat.

China Glaze Passion for Petals and Mosaic Madness

Hello everyone.  Happy Monday?  I think it's Monday anyway.  Work is seriously kicking my butt right now so I'm not entirely sure what day it is anymore.  But whatever the day is I have some polishes to show you.  These were both sent to me for review.

Passion for Petals is a deep pink creme.  This is from the China Glaze Avant Garden collection for Spring '13.  Application was decent, but the formula was a bit runny so you'll want to do thinner coats.  I used 2 coats over Finger Paints base coat and no top coat.  This is a pretty color, but feels very safe to me.

Mosaic Madness is a sapphire and black glitter mix from the China Glaze Glitz collection for Spring '13.  The glitters are a mix of different sized hex glitters and short bar glitters.  I got the best application from a mix of dabbing and brushing the polish.  I started with a large dab of polish in the middle of my nail then brushed and pushed it where I wanted it.  The glitters do like to pull forward to your nail edge so be careful of corners hanging off your nails.  The following pictures are one coat of Mosaic Madness over Passion for Petals and no top coat.

China Glaze Snap My Dragon and Bling It On

Happy Monday everyone.  This is a special Monday because it's also my birthday.  The boy is working all day today, so we celebrated on Sat with lunch at Cheesecake Factory and seeing Iron Man 3.  GO SEE IRON MAN 3! Not that I've given my public service announcement let's get on with the swatches.
I'm going to be combing my China Glaze Avant Garden and Glitz- Bitz 'N Pieces reviews.  Why?  Because I swatched the glitters over the Avant Garden colors so it makes sense in my head to share them at the same time.  I believe Glitz came out first, but both collections are from early Spring 2013.  I received my samples at the same time so I know they came out close together.

Snap My Dragon is a rasperry shimmer from the Avant Garden collection.  The shimmer is a slightly lighter shade of pink than the base color.  The formula and application are both great.  This is almost a 1 coat polish, but I used 2 in these photos to cover some minimal VNL.  I used Finger Paints base coat and no top coat.

Bling It On is an indigo and black glitter mix from the Glitz collection.  There are multiple sizes of hex glitters and some short bar glitters.  Normally I'm not a fan of bar glitter, but the ones in this polish aren't too bad.  The formula is ok- a little on the thin side though.  With application I got better results from dabbing the polish onto my nail and kind of pushing the glitter around where I wanted it.  I found if I used a standard brushing application the glitter wanted to pull towards the tip of my nails or off my nails altogether.  This is one dabbed coat over Snap My Dragon.

Zoya Ornate Collection Part 1- The Holos

I've been sitting here staring at my screen for the last few minutes with absolutely no idea what to write.  The fact that I can barely remember what day it is, and that I might be coming down with a cold, probably has something to do with this.  I'm looking forward to Christmas tomorrow mostly to have a day off.  And a day off where I don't have to feel guilty about not doing chores, or anything else if I don't want to.  So please forgive me if my posts are very short this week, but the retail world is rather exhausting this time of year.
The Zoya Ornate collection for Holiday 2012 consists of 6 polishes.  Today I have the three holographic polishes for you.  The formula and application for all three of these was excellent.  I used Finger Paints base coat and no top coat for all swatches.

Aurora

Aurora is a red-based purple base with scattered holo particles.  This one is the strongest holo.  This is 3 coats.

Blaze

Blaze is a cranberry base with scattered holo particles.  The holo is not as strong as Aurora, but still very noticeable.  This is 2 coats.

Storm

Storm is a black base with scattered holo.  This is the weakest holo of the three in my opinion.  I felt like the holo was trying to hide a bit unless my nails were directly in strong light.  This is 2 coats.

I really liked Blaze and Storm and loved Aurora.  I would recommend all three, but if you can only get one, I'd make it Aurora.
