Color Club Eternal Beauty

I have one last polish from the Color Club Halo Hues collection to show you today.  At least for now.  I'm sure I'll pick up more in the future.  I really am a sucker for a good holo polish.

Eternal Beauty is a medium purple linear holo.  Once again, the holo flame is very strong.  Formula and application were both really good.  I had no streaking or cuticle drag.  I used 3 coats in the bellow photos, but I probably would have been fine with just 2.  My base coat was Nail Tek Foundation II and I did not use a top coat.

Purple and holo, of course I'm in love.  I have several other similar shades of purple holo, but this is definitely the strongest.
All three of the Halo Hues colors I bought dry very quickly.  This comes in handy if you don't like using a top coat over holo polishes since some top coats can dull the holo effect.

Color Club Over the Moon

I have another Color Club Halo Hue polish for you today.

Over the Moon is a medium-light blue linear holo.  Again the holo flame is very strong.  The formula was good, but the application was a bit streaky, especially the first coat.  I also had a small amount of cuticle drag with this one.  Everything evened out by the third coat, which is what you see in the pictures below.  I used Nail Tek Foundation II as my base coat and no top coat.  I would possibly recommend an aqua base for Over the Moon if you have one.

This is a lovely shade of blue, though not the most unique for a holo.  I'm glad I picked it up at my beauty supply just for how holo the polish looks inside.

Color Club Cosmic Fate

Happy Tax Day everyone!  I hope you all have nice refunds coming your way.  Who's planning a polish splurge with theirs?  I might have ordered a few things recently with some of mine....
Today I have one of the new Color Club Halo Hues to show you.   I recently purchased 3 of the shades at a local beauty supply shop.  They cost a little more, retail is $10 most places, but I think they're worth it.  First up is Cosmic Fate.

Cosmic Fate is an orange/copper linear holo.  The holo is very strong, just look at the bottle.  The formula is good and application is smooth even without a special aqua basecoat.  I used Nail Tek Foundation II for my base coat.  The first coat of polish was a little streaky, but it evened out well.  I used 3 coats for complete coverage and did not use a top coat.

LOOK at that rainbow flame!

Not as exciting here, but still a pretty color.

As you can see, the holo flame comes out with any light source shining on the polish.  I love that you can see the rainbow in all lighting, not just in direct sunlight.  The color reminds me of a new penny.  If you like holos I highly recommend picking this one up.  Like I said earlier, I picked these up at an independent beauty supply near me.  If you don't have one near you that sells Color Club, you can find these online at several etailers including Head2Toe, the official Color Club site, or even Ebay.

Color Club Wild Cactus

During my last beauty supply trip, not only did I find the new Color Club Kaleidoscope collection, but also the new Fiesta collection for Spring '13.  The Fiesta collection is already up on the Cosmetic Group website, so I know this is a Spring collection.

Wild Cactus is an emerald green creme.  If you haven't heard yet, Emerald is the Pantone color of the year, so we will be seeing lots of it this year.  Application was good and the formula was decent, just a little thick.  I didn't have any issues with the slight thickness.  In fact I think it helped application.  I used 2 coats for full coverage over Nail Tek Foundation II base and did not use a top coat.

Wild Cactus is very bright in the sun.  Not neon bright, just vibrant.  With this shade of green I would not be surprised to see some staining, so you might want to wear extra base coat just in case.
In case you're wondering, Wild Cactus is several shades darker than Abyss.  Here is a side by side bottle comparison of the two.

Abyss is on the left and Wild Cactus is on the right.  The difference is more noticeable in person I promise, but you can still see they are not dupes.  You can also see that Abyss is bluer than Wild Cactus.

Color Club Abyss

I've noticed that my local beauty supply tends to get new collections in early.  Which is sometimes very dangerous for me.  But also pretty fun.  Especially when I find polishes and collections out that I haven't even heard about yet.  Like the Color Club Kaleidoscope collection.  I'm not sure if this is a Spring or Summer collection, but a couple of the colors looked pretty.  I only grabbed one- Abyss.

Abyss is a medium teal creme that leans very green.  I don't think these photos are completely color accurate, but they should give you a general idea.  This is one of those shades that just don't want to play nice with my camera.
Formula and application were great on this polish.  This could potentially be a 1 coat polish, but I used 2 to cover some minor streaks and baldish spots.  I think those spots and streaks were more from my nails and application than the polish itself.  If you look closely though, you will be able to see any ridges you have in your nails.  My base coat was Nail Tek Foundation II and I did not use a top coat.

Holiday 2012 Holographic Polish Comparisons

Merry Christmas everyone.   Happy Tuesday or Movie and Chinese Food Day to everyone not celebrating.  Today I just have a quick comparison of a couple holographic polishes that have come out this season, and one older polish, for you.

For this comparison I used 2 coats of each polish over Finger Paints base coat and no top coat.  The polishes are Zoya Blaze on my thumb, Orly Miss Conduct on my index finger, OPI DS Extravagance on my middle finger, Zoya Aurora on my ring finger, and Color Club Gift of Sparkle on my pinky.  I noticed no significant difference in application or formula between the Zoyas, OPI, and Orly.  The Color Club was a bit thicker because of the glitter particles.

As you can see, there are similarities in color, but no dupes.  I'd say Aurora and Gift of Sparkle are the closest color wise.  Do you need all 5 of these?  Maybe not, but they are definitely different enough to justify buying all of them if you like all 5.

Disclaimer:  Some of the products in this post were sent to me for consideration.

Color Club Gift of Sparkle

I have another polish from the Color Club Winter Affair collection for Holiday 2012 to show you all today.

Gift of Sparkle is a red based purple with holographic glitter.  The bottle shot shows a more red than the polish actually is.  My photos below are more accurate.  The formula is on the thick side, but that's probably because of the glitter.  Application isn't too hard, but the thicker formula does make it a little trickier.  Gift of Sparkle dries to a satin-y/matte finish.  I didn't use any top coat for these photos, but I'm guessing you will need a couple of coats of top coat for a smooth texture.  Polishes like this do tend to absorb top coat.  I used Finger Paints top coat and 2 coats of polish for these photos.

I'm sure you can all tell why I like this polish.  But surprisingly I like Winter Affair a little bit more.

Color Club Winter Affair

Today I have a polish from the Color Club Winter Affair collection for Holiday 2012.  Actually, I have the namesake polish of the collection for you.

Winter Affair is a deep maroon with gold shimmer.  Application was very smooth for me.  The formula is a little thick and likes to run down the neck of the brush.  I used 1 thick coat of polish for the photos below, except on my pinkie which is a thinner coat and could have used a second.  With the thicker coats you get more running from the polish, so 2 thinner coats might be better.  I used Finger Paints base coat and no top coat for the photos.

I LOVE the color of this polish.  I put it on just to swatch and wound up doing a full mani instead.  The Winter Affair collection can be found online at the Color Club website and other etailers.  There is also a scented version available, with a few color changes, at Sally Beauty.  I actually picked up this polish at TJ Maxx in a two pack with an unlabeled polish I believe is Covered in Diamonds from the Untamed Luxury collection.  I'm not sure why that was the second polish in a two pack labeled for the Winter Affair collection, but I've learned not to question these things too much.
