The Blossom Challenge: Clean Slate

Welcome to a new year Power Poppy friends!  It’s Christine welcoming you today to start new year right with a new theme for The Blossom Challenge!  January brings a lot of new starts, maybe even new creative goodies and fresh creative juices, so we’re all about a Clean Slate this month!  So put away all the layers and extra do-dads and instead show us your best clean and simple designs that celebrate that simple, clean and yet graphic style that packs a punch!

Today I pulled out a now retired polymer set from Power Poppy which showcases all sorts of fun mushrooms!  Parts of that set are also available in digi form as Mushroom Trio, Miraculous Mushrooms and Morel Standards.  I stamped this image on Kraft cardstock and then pulled out my Prismacolor Pencils because I always love how pencils look on Kraft.

You can achieve a look that almost glows!  I always lay down a layer of white prismacolor for the rest of the colours to lay on and blend.   A simple snail die seemed like the perfect accent, and then a bit of ribbon adds another pop of colour but keeps it clean, and the layers very simple.

Now you’re invited to come and join us for this month’s Clean Slate!  All you need to do is create a Clean and Simple design showcasing any Power Poppy image and link it up below to be in the running!

BUT THERE’S MORE!  Did you know Marcy’s got a gorgeous freebie you can use too?!  Just in time for Valentine’s The Rose Digi is FREE!  It would be a beautiful clean design image to use!  But we’d love to see any of your creations.

You have until February 17th to enter!  Winner will be chosen at random and will receive a $20 Gift Code to the Power Poppy store!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

A little Friday FUN!

Hi all and welcome to the first Friday post of 2020! We sure hope you had a wonderful holiday and a Happy New Year! We're brushing off the creative rust after taking a little holiday break just in time to share some news that we know you'll want to get in on! It involves a coloring master, a beautiful illustration and news that has both being offered as freebies to YOU!

Did you see this news?

If you want to learn more, all you need to do is click HERE. Alyce over at Kit and Clowder is a master at bringing illustrations to life and in this free class she will personally teach you real art fundamentals covering blending basics of markers and pencils, finding your light source to give your coloring depth along with tidbits on making petals and leaves a little more realistic.

And, before you sign up for the class, you can get your hands on this beautiful illustration HERE at the Power Poppy Shop! Who wouldn't want a beautiful rose to color up like this?

Do you want to play along?

On Tuesday, Creative Confetti kicked off the new year with a small and sassy bang! Sound enticing? I sure hope so because this week's challenge is all about creating those smaller than normal cards to send a little pint-sized cheer to a friend! Check out the cards I created below and then click HERE to check out this week's fun-filled challenge!

Well, really, get inspired by one Bloomie! The fabulous Nancy Sheads has an amazing creation that comes complete with a coloring map for you to use if you want to create with the same results.

So hop on over and see Ms. Nancy! And.... we'll see YOU back here real soon!

Creative Confetti: Free for All!

Okay, raise your hands if you love freebies! Yep, I thought so. It's pretty universal and today, for Creative Confetti, it is literally ALL ABOUT the FREEBIES! Check out this week's challenge my friends!

HOW TO PLAY: Simply use one of Power Poppy's Free Digital Downloads to create this week! Since the images we are using are FREE -- what's holding you back from joining us? Go shout it to your best stampin' buds! Tell a neighbor! Heck, shout it in the streets! :-) Bottom line, we want to see you join us and fill up the link list this week with tons of creativity!

Now, here's part of the challenge. I am not going to tell you where to find these lovelies in the store but, trust me, they are there, ready and waiting for you to download, print and color up with your own personal style! Just click HERE to travel to our digital stamp pages! I will tell you there are FOUR free images for you if you look! ;-)  While you're there, make sure to check out some of the "not" freebie digis. There are some beauties in the Power Poppy Shop!

On to My Creation!

For my creation, I used one of the newest Freebies called Sending Warm Hugs! I just love that little sunflower -- totally adorbs! I printed, colored up with Copic Markers and reached for G21, G24, G28, Y32, Y35, Y38, E25, E27, E23. I accented with a little BG0000 and BG10. And, when all was said and done I scribbled on some lines using a white gel pen. Why? No idea. I just felt like it! LOL!

Here's a close-up for you!

From there, it's just matting it up, adding a button and... ta da! Easy Peasy!

Show us how much YOU love freebies and join me this week! Since Friday is the 1st, I will leave this linky open until next Monday so we have a few more days to choose a winner for the October $25 Power Poppy Shop gift code. Did you know about that? All you need to do is link up your creation for a chance to win! Have fun creating! We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Until next time,
~Julie

Lighting a Spark!

Hello happy stampers & welcome to another action-packed, fancifully artsy Friday! There was so much out there on the blogosphere to light that creative spark this week that we can't wait to share just a handful of what we saw! We're downright giddy about it actually!

First up, we're on Week 3 of Marcella's invitation to us all to partake in a few mini challenges to unleash MEGA creativity! This week, she's urging us to.....

http://powerpoppy.blogspot.com/2016/09/coloring-outside-lines-mini-challenge.html

Color outside the lines? ReAlLy? Can we really do that? Well, you have proven that you not only CAN do that, but you are all rocking this concept. And.... lots of artists are showing off their skills using Power Poppy‘s new downloadable freebie called “Let It Be.” (Note: ANY image may be used in the challenge!) Marcella led the way with hues of vibrant blue, and many followed suit and put their own spin on this digi! Like Holstein HERE, Lisa Lara HERE, CreatingColors HERE, or this beauty below by Danni Bindel. If you haven’t downloaded this free Power Poppy digital stamp, come grab it up for yourself! While you’re there, pick up the companion freebie — I Can Do All Things.

Floating around on Instagram, I spotted this colored up creation by Heather a.k.a. @hmz61979. She posted this beauty a while ago, but since I don’t frequent Instagram as often, this was a new-to-me creation! I just love unexpected surprises, don't you? I just love the variation in Heather's coloring, which shows off and defines this Ranunculus digital stamp perfectly.

I found this touch-of-fall creation below by Patti Willey @pattisstampingstudio on Instagram. If you have a few minutes, click HERE and scroll through her recent creations. Oh my!! She has a ton of Power Poppy designs and all are just as striking and pretty as the next! I love this card using In Praise of Sunflowers. The colors just POP on that neutral backdrop, don't you think?

QUICK NOTE: Want to share your cards and projects on IG? All you need to do is add #powerpoppy or #powerpoppystamps and we’ll find you! Use #powerandsparklette for this month’s Coloring Outside the Lines challenge) @marcellahawley is frequently there peeking and posting!

Well I think all of those ladies are applause worthy! Thank you ALL for sharing your creations and spreading a little artsy love along the way. You inspire us at every turn!

Now it's time to “roll” on through our link list here with the Bloomies! Click on over and see what these fine ladies have been up to in their stamping spaces! We know you won't be sorry that you spent the time checking out their latest creations!

And be sure to check back not only tomorrow to see what Marcy has planned for Saturday’s Week 4 Power & Sparklette bit of fun. On Monday, we’ll be back with Inspire Me Monday to kick off your creative week!

Note: We will be skipping over our regular September 25th digital stamp introduction, but keep your eyes peeled for a holiday surprise on October 5th!

Thanks for stopping by!
