Saved!

I was about halfway through making this wall doll (hangs on the wall) when I decided I didn't like it one little bit......it just wasn't working how I envisioned it. I was about to bin it and use the head on something else, but something stayed my hand and I decided to give it one more chance, probably because I'd already spent quite a few hours on it and it would have been such a waste of time. So I persevered and painted. Added a wild wig and a twiggy finial at the bottom. A moment came when I discovered that the piece was redeemed! It had been worth saving.........

So here is "Spiritus Loci"......back from the brink!

A New Baby

This new cloth baby is just one sweet handful. She sits about 6" high and has jointed hips, shoulders and neck. I made the rompers from some pale green bamboo knit fabric - really fine and soft and lovely to work with (I had never used this type of fabric before) her bootees are crochet and the jacket and hat are knitted in 4-ply pure wool. I used just a little dusty pink embroidery .

"Bindi" completed...........and a giveaway!

Over on Facebook last week I announced that my blog was approaching 700 (689 to be precise) followers and that when I passed 700, I would host a giveaway. The magic 700 occurred within a day, (now up to 723 - thanks all you new followers!) so here I am announcing a giveaway! I'm making a Christmas-themed Sukeshi doll something like this for the winner:

All you have to do is leave a message with your name either here or on Facebook and I'll put you in the hat. If you prefer your privacy and don't wish to leave a message in either place, you can still enter, but you'll have to email me privately. Yesterday I completed this little doll - "Bindi" - here is her final photo shoot. She should be available in my Etsy store this weekend.

Happy Springtime from Bindi! (In the Southern World, anyway!)

A Mixed Bag

Here are a couple of "Sukeshi" dolls I made as a special order:

And shaping the head of the knitted rabbit I made last week made me think it would be possible to quite easily knit a sphere and make a soft ball.......wonderful baby toy! Here are two I made very quickly on four needles - it worked a treat. One is very fluffy and the other has two bells inside, so it tinkles sofly when rolled, shaken or thrown.

Littlebright Zoziedoll

This might be just about my last posting before I set off across the Pacific for two months in the USA. I will try to at least leave the odd entry while I am away, but it might be a bit sporadic. Meanwhile, here is another Zoziedoll - "Littlebright" - working with the bright colour was lots of fun.
