New Shawl Pattern: Fire Spirit.

I am excited to introduce to you my fourth and final (for now) design in the series of Shawls for Friends. Fire Spirit pattern can be found on Ravelry:
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fire-spirit
Introductory 50% off until Thursday 11 pm PST.

I designed this shawl for my friend Elena.  She is a wonderful friend I have known for about 20 years. She is very sincere, kind and, unlike most people, she does not afraid to give you a complement, say a kind word and just make you feel better. I feel that she has an inner radar that make her sense when people need a kind word the most.
When thinking about the design I would love to make for her, two things came to mind: red and fringe. :-) I love love how Fire Spirit shawl turned out. Love the cable/lace/fringe combination. It is a fun shawl, as you can see from my pics ;-), and I hope Elena will love it and will enjoy wearing it.

Fire Spirit shawl features combination of rhombus silhouettes set in lace and a little cable twists. Fringe adds a playful element to the design. All of these elements reminiscent of fire flames thus giving the design its name. The shawl is knitted bottom-up. The border is designed in the way that makes it very easy to attach fringe and to block the shawl. Grab your favorite yarn and have fun knitting.

Diana

This year I would like to design and knit several shawls for some friends who have been kind to me over the years. Queen V is the first design in the series of Shawls for Friends with more to come.
My thoughts going into this series of designs for friends are:
1. to use the color I know they love and wear;
2. design a shawl to complement their lifestyle and personality;
3. make future blocking easier for them by keeping the borders easy to block, since most of them are not knitters;

I designed and knitted this first shawl in the series for my friend Victoria, who is like Queen mom to everyone and very generous and welcoming host. She said recently that yellow is her favorite color, so I hope she will like this surprise shawl.
Happy knitting,
Diana

New Design: Between Seasons.

While deciding on the project to knit during my winter break from college, I thought it would be fun to design something for those single skeins of yarn people usually have in their stash and do not know what to do with and are not big fans of stripes like myself and love a little lace.  This is how Between Seasons pattern came about.

Introductory sale for this pattern until the end of the Labor Day weekend (09/04/17, 11 pm PST). No code needed. Sale price is shown. After 09/04/17 the pattern will be available for $4.00.
Also, “Between Seasons” scarf pattern is FREE with a one-skein purchase of Spark Story merino singles fingering yarn through Spark Story Etsy shop. You will receive a code for downloading your free pattern on Ravelry:
https://www.etsy.com/shop/SparkStory…

Between Seasons is an airy lace scarf with beautiful zigzag pattern. The scarf is knitted in two colors simultaneously and seamlessly from one edge to the other. The colors are changed in the middle with a simple trick. The same scarf can be worn in several different ways. If you fold it along the middle you can have a different color showing depending on which side is up. You can also wear it with both colors showing as a scarf or a wrap.
Multiple colors and beautiful lace create many possibilities on achieving different looks depending on how you wear your scarf. Thank you for choosing to knit Between Seasons and I hope you enjoy this project!

Happy knitting,
Diana

New Design: Lemon Drops Shawl.

A month ago I came across a pattern that I really loved. It looked a little bit like a leaf, but had some interesting twist to it. I knew I wanted a shawl with this pattern right away. I had to change the lace pattern somewhat to make it fit into format of a shawl. As I started to knit the shawl I had no idea what to do for the border, but it kind of came to me at the end :-)) It was a truly spontaneous project and a fast one too. I knitted the shawl in a week :-))) The shawl was named "Lemon Drops" because the color of the yarn and the shape of the main pattern reminded me of that particular candy :-))) I love, love, love how it all came to together. I hope you like the shawl too :-)) I am writing the pattern for the shawl right now.
Project: Lemon Drops on Ravelry.
Yarn: Madelinetosh Merino Light, 4 ply Fingering, 100 % Merino
Needles: US 3 - 3.25 mm
