New Pattern: June Gloom Kimono.

June Gloom Kimono pattern is now live!
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/june-gloom-kimono
The pattern will be available at introductory price of $3.50 until the end of the week (10pm, PST, 08/12/18). After that it will be available for $5.00. No coupon code needed.

June Gloom Kimono is a topdown short sleeve cardigan
with a kimono style sleeves and bold diamond pattern.
Garter stitch border is framed by a little icord.
The final version of the cardigan, long minty one, is knitted with @FilaturaDiCrosa Madras yarn purchased at my favorite knitting store @apricotyarn. The cardigan will be on display there shortly. 😉
You can view more pictures of all three versions of this design on Ravelry:

***Please read below before purchasing this pattern, as it is only available in ONE SIZE To Fit Actual Full Bust Circumference of 38.5”/98 cm with 4’’/ 10 cm of positive ease.*** This pattern is only be available in ONE SIZE, the size of the sample I made for myself. The sample specifications are listed in the diagram. My decision of writing and publishing a pattern in only one size is motivated by the fact that unless the interest in my patterns will significantly pick up, I can no longer justify spending so much time on pattern grating and test knitting multiple sizes. Especially now, when I am back in school working towards a new degree and completely different for me profession. After publishing my last garment pattern (Casual Friday cardigan) I have decided to no longer write patterns for garments and just knit those designs for myself, but over the last few years multiple people have asked me about availability of patterns for some of my unpublished cardigans and sweaters and after someone suggested “why don’t you just publish it in your sample size”, I thought why not? :-)
So here we are with my first one size pattern and some other ones to come in the future as well.

June Gloom Kimono.

June Gloom ( as well as May Gray) is a weather pattern here in San Diego. Basically, the sun does not come out until late afternoon and it is gray and on the cooler side for the most part. Perfect weather for a little something like this kimono vest :-)
The diamond pattern is my own creation, but I am sure there are stitch patterns like this around. I love how the k2tog/ssk lines pop on the purl stitch background.
A little on the construction: top-down, seamless (except for the attaching the neck band and tiny seaming where the sleeves were BO), short row shaping of the shoulders, 2st I-cord for the edge of the fronts, I-cord BO for the sleeves and bottom band.
More on this project on Ravelry.

Asilomar pattern is now avaible.

The vest "Asilomar" is my second design for Lotus Yarns. Original post about this design with more pictures can be found here. The pattern is now available on Ravelry and my blog as a free download. The vest is seamless and knitted topdown.
For this vest you will need  Lotus Tibetan Yak Laceweight 3 skeins = 1476.4 yards (1350.0m). The vest is knitted with yarn  held double on US3.

Thank you all for supporting my patterns and design adventures :-)

New Design: "Asilomar"

Word Asilomar, derived from the Spanish words “asilo” meaning retreat or refuge, and “mar,” meaning sea, hence “refuge-by-the-sea.”. Asilomar conference grounds and Asilomar state beach are located on the Monterey Peninsula in California. Pictures were taken there while on vacation in Northern California.

The vest is my second design for Lotus Yarns. This is my first time working with Yak fiber. It is lovely. The yarn is soft and strong and shows lace patterns and texture very well. It works well knitted single stranded or double stranded. I choose to knit yarn held double for this particular design.
The construction of the vest is seamless topdown with an exception of a little seam where collar attaches to the back.

Yarn: Lotus Tibetan Yak Laceweight
3 skeins = 1476.4 yards (1350.0m) knitted double on US3
Colorway #11 Mariana

Project on Ravelry.
Pattern is in the works and will be available at the end of September.
