Mesquite Forge and Cooperage
Isn't this lovely?! The colour and texture grabbed my eye as soon as I saw it. Hand made from end grain mesquite, this Mesquite Cutting Board Round With Forged Hoops has stainless steel hoops driven in at a 10 degree angle to prevent the board from splitting, and since it was crafted by a retired aerospace engineer I'm pretty sure it will last a lifetime! Jack, the talented artisan behind Mequite Forge and Cooperage, says he has always had a love of wood and metalworking. He is a cooper as well, a craft steeped in history and I am so pleased to see someone upholding that wonderful handmade tradition. Please be sure to check out his Etsy shop, he's been dabbling in blacksmithing as well, I'd say he is a true Renaissance man!

Spaulding's Woodworking
Every now and again Etsy does get it exactly right when they show me their selection of new items that "match my taste". Today was one of those days when I signed in and saw this amazing Vermont Sap Bucket Hanging Lamp by Nathan Spaulding of Spaulding's Woodworking in Vermont.
I love it! Can't you see it hanging over your antique table or over the island in your country kitchen? Nathan says that he made it from 100 year old sap buckets and a piece of timber that was milled in a water powered sawmill over 150 years ago. $250.00 + shipping for a handcrafted piece of history, sounds like a deal to me!

So Much Talent At Etsy!
Hello everyone. My name is Deb Riddell of Paxton Valley Folk Art and I'm here today at the Sunburnt Cow Handmade Shop to tell you about some fabulous new shops I just found at Etsy. Have you ever shopped at Etsy using Pounce? It's a link on Etsy's front page that lets you search for shops who have either just had a sale OR search for shops who have never made a sale. I prefer searching the second way, looking for new shops who have never had a sale at Etsy. It's a big place and I know how frustrating it can be to open your brand new shop and list all of your beautiful items and then ..... nothing! No sales, few visits, a gal can get quite depressed! So in the spirit of supporting each other, I have made a treasury featuring 16 new shops that I just discovered on Etsy.
The diversity and talent at Etsy never ceases to amaze me, just take a look at all of those lovely items! I hope you can take a minute to visit these shops (just click on each picture to go to their listing)and show them some love, it will be good for your karma! Thanks for taking the time and I'll be back soon to share some more of my favourite people and places.
