I really love the mini-slimline card size. Mine is 6 1/4" x 3 1/2" when folded shut. I made the card base out of Basis White cardstock. This is my go-to choice lately for bases because it's 80# and is nice and sturdy even when you put a lot of weight on the card front. All Basis cardstocks are 80# so with the wide range of colors available, I can make a base that will go with any color scheme.

The chunky XO phrase was cut using the Art Impressions 5072-Block Letters Die Set. I cut 6 layers for each letter in CCS Discount Dolphin Gray. I cut one layer in CCS Silver Bright Foil Cardstock. The layers are glued together to form chipboard depth letters.

I then went to work on the card scene. I cut a 6" x 3 1/4" rectangle out of Pop Tone Blue Raspberry cardstock Salty Ocean Oxide ink was used in combination with the Lawn Fawn Cloudy stencil to create the sky background. On top of that I made two layers of grass. the spikey grass was cut out of Basis Golden Green with the Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside Borders Dies. The hill was cut from Pop Tone Gumdrop Green with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders. These two border sets work together well since the shape of the two sets match each other. This is how I was able to get a spikey grass border to match perfectly with the hillside.

After the pieces were cut, I arranged them on the Blue Raspberry panel. Then I stamped, colored and fussy cut the Porcupine image from 5117-Valentine Critters set from Art Impressions. Isn't he just adorable!

Copic Marker Colors Used:
E29, E25, E23, E21
R39, R29, R24, R20

I heat embossed the sentiment in silver from the stamp set and cut it with a punch. I used another punch to make the scalloped red mat from Pop Tone Red Hot cardstock. I glued them together and placed it on the card front. Below you can see how chunky the letters are. I love the dimension of these chunky letters!

The finished card is super cute and perfect for someone of any age who likes a little punny humor. It is especially suited as a masculine card because it's cute but not feminine. There is no frilly features or pink used in this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by for this hop. Make sure you follow the links to all the other designers and that you leave a comment for everyone.

Mouse & Cat Valentine with a Twist

Hello crafty friends! Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a fun card for the We Love Hearts Challenge. This challenge is all about hearts. It's made from the Twisters Line and this cutie is 5214 - Heart Twist Set.

Cute Farm Animal Valentines for Kids

Happy Saturday everyone! Like a lot of crafters, I've been working on Valentine cards and today I'm bringing you some cute children's valentines made with the 6 freebie stamps that were released with the second 2021 new releases from Art Impressions.

I stamped these cuties and colored them with Copic markers. Then they were fussy cut and arranged on hearts that form an off the edge valentine. The white cards and the patterned card base were cut with the Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies. These fit into A2 envelopes and have blank white cardstock on the back where any message can be written.

I think grade school kids would love these for their friends. I get a chuckle out of the punny sentiments that go with each animal. I made the sentiment cards using Microsoft Word.

I know a lot of you have some or all of the freebies. I have made a video that shows how I made these. If you are curious what colors I used and see how I colored each of them, click the thumbnail.

Thanks for stopping by today. Ai has many adorable stamps to use and I hope you are having fun making your valentines!

Happy Creating!

I Love You A Sloth!

I've been working on Valentine's Day cards lately and I couldn't wait to bring out the sloths from the Eyelet Outlet Sloth and Koala brad set for this card. The koalas are perfectly sized for the small branches I have in my stamp and die stash. In this case, I decided to use dies for the branches and leaves. Pastel Leaf brads and pink and red Heart Enamels were also used as embellishments. The sky background was created by using two pieces of Sky Washi tape on a small piece of cardstock. I placed it under the scalloped window so that the seam is mostly behind the lower branch. It disguises it very well. Although not much is seen of the cute pattern, I used a border of Sloth Washi tape on the card edges. It gives a nice black border to the bright green paper and I like that there are little flowers peaking out as well. You can get all of these items and more at the EO store.

This is an A2 sized card with a 4" x 5 1/4" green panel. A scallop die from my stash was used to cut an opening in the front. After attaching the branches and the sky panel behind the window, I used foam tape to secure it to a white card base. The phrase was cut with a design from Cricut Design Space.

Happy Creating Everyone!

Retro Valentines For Your Vintage Valentine

I bet most of us remember typewriters and rotary phones. It’s hard to believe but those things are now considered vintage. Does that mean I’m vintage too? Never mind. Don’t answer that!

Today I have a pair of valentines featuring old fashioned machinery a lot of us used to know and love.

I love the vivid cardstock colors in the Astrobright line of cardstocks. They are especially great for children’s cards and for lighthearted special occasions like Valentines Day. For these valentines, I used Re-Entry Red for the card bases. The die cuts are cut from Lift Off LemonPulsar PinkLunar Blue and a little more Re-Entry Red. You can purchase the cardstocks used for this card from CutCardStock's webstore.

Five Cards With The Hero Arts January 2020 Card Kit

Hello my friends! I'm here today to share with you five cards I made with the fabulous January My Monthly Hero Card kit. The theme is all things floral, specifically die cut florals. In addition to the many floral dies, the kit includes a sentiment flag die and two wonderful dies that have all kinds of uses - a small envelope and a bouquet wrap. The 4 x 6 stamp set has many sentiments to fit the sentiment flag die. They cover a variety of occasions. There are also several stamps that fit the mailing theme such as a cancelled stamp and a stamp image.

The kit comes with 6 1/2 sheets of shimmer paper in dark pink, light pink and blush. There are also 2 half sheets of heavy duty kraft cardstock. The kit also comes this month with pink sparkle embossing powder, pink satin ribbon and a generously sized Aqua glimmer metallic ink.

Mass Producing Hand-Stamped and Colored Valentines For Kids

Hello and happy Sunday! It’s going to be a rainy day here in the Charlotte area. Here’s hoping you have mild and sunny weather where ever you are!

So it’s been a super long time since I last posted. Although I have always kept crafting, I gave up blogging a couple of times. I let myself fall into a pity trap after putting in the work to share and getting little response back. After some contemplation, I’ve decided to rededicate myself to it and not worry if anyone subscribes or “likes” my projects. I have to be honest that this is for me. It’s a kind of a online journal and as long as the work helps me relax, let go of stress and release creativity to use in other parts of my life, it’s worth it.

With that in mind, I have taken it a step further and opened a YouTube Channel under SugarShine Designs. This provides another way to share my projects and I’m excited about it! I always felt limited by using a few photographs. My first post is linked below. Yes, it’s WAY too long at 18 minutes. My goal is to stay under 15 and find a balance between enough and too much information. Practice makes perfect.

I’ll be posting projects for the seasons and attempting to provide as much practical how to information I can so if someone watching is inspired to try something similar, they’ll be able to follow along. There’s a part of me that enjoys teaching others and it's my second motivation for doing this.

So without further ado, I officially kick off my channel today! Here goes nothing!
