SOME VALENTINE DECORATIONS

We got another foot (30cm) of snow today, :( . I had to shovel a path from the house out to the road that our back driveway goes to, because it's a heck of a lot shorter than the 1/8 mile long "official" driveway - twice! I'll be sore tomorrow! I hired the two brothers next door to shovel a path down the long driveway to the bus stop.

I am joining up at Rednesday, hoping all those reds will warm me up!

I'm going to show you some of my Valentine decorations - some that I made. First is a beautiful accordion card that I picked up a year or so ago. It's so pretty!

Next is my what-not shelf.

I decorated the three little bottles for V-Day - stickers or double-sided tape so I can take them off easily.

Couldn't resist giving this forlorn angel a Valentine card. Hope she cheers up.

This is a candy box that I decorated for myself. I am absolutely in love with it!

Remember this guy? "Where's Steve?" (Steve Irwin, The Crocodile Hunter). He's looking to get lucky!

Last is a heart-shaped necklace that came from my aunt's estate.

REDNESDAY

I don't wanna make a Rednesday post! I just wanna play in the garden!

Hi everyone! I confess - it's true. The computer was the last thing on my mind today. With all the unseasonable weather we've been having this week, I truly want to just stay outdoors! But, alas, I can't. Someone's got to do the housework, and drive the kids to school (and watch t.v., lol!). But, I do have some nice indoor things to show you this week.

I have some pics of my bedroom closet, believe it or not. Not the whole closet, mind you, cuz it's a mess! We have a modest Cape Cod style "cottage" - 3 bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths. But the interesting thing about the master bedroom is that it has this huge walk-in closet; and, I mean HUGE! Without taking the time to go upstairs and measure it, I'm guessing it's 8 ft. by 12 ft. - big enough to be a small bedroom.

Anyway, the wall that has my dresser against it is what I'm going to show you. Mister picked up this beautiful cabinet at a yard sale last year. I couldn't decide where to put it until a few months ago - I settled for above my dresser. I love it here! The doors are so pretty!

Open it up and there you will see my bird figurine collection. I just love the colors of the stained glass and birds in here. Especially since there are no windows.

Oh, surprise! There's Steve Irwin courting the lovely lady in yellow to the right. Haven't seen him in a long time!

Here's a close-up ~

And, here are some closer-uppers! ~

This is a wall pocket ~

This set-up brings a smile to my face every day; it's so cheerful!

PRE-TEEN'S PARTY

Two posts in one day? Sure, why not!

I'm sad, very sad indeed. Pre-Teen is no more. She done went and had a birthday on me yesterday. Now she's 13! What should I call her now? How's this sound?

Nah, not quite right. Hmmmm. Teen is 17-1/2, so she'll stay Teen. I don't know . . . I suppose I could call her by her real name - Becky!

Being all Aspy and everything (Asperger's Syndrome), she didn't want anything for gifts; and didn't want to go anywhere or do anything. So she just had her cousin sleep over, then I took them to Friendly's Family Restaurant for lunch. She and Teen watched The Princess and the Frog last night (I was very disappointed in that movie), and I made a cake.

Oh, and we had a special visitor ~

AFTER EASTER

I made cupcakes for Easter and almost forgot to take a pic - here are the leftovers. The cute little basket wraps are from Wilton, purchased at Walmart (I think).

We decided to go untraditional since all the family had other plans this year - due to the extraordinary warm weather, we grilled marinated steak tips and baked potatoes instead of a ham dinner - yum!

All kinds of critters are drawn to Steve Irwin - even Easter ones!

REDNESDAY - STEVE IRWIN AND NEEDLES

Okay, that title sparked your interest, I'm sure! Back in the Fall, Teen picked up a Steve Irwin (The Crocodile Hunter) action figure at the thrift shop. Needless to say, he's getting around the house - we're finding him in all different places, poses, and holidays! So we're keeping a little photo folder called "Around the House with Steve Irwin"! Yesterday, Teen put him on the shelf over my computer with a reminder note about the SAT's. Crickey! We'd better get moving on those!

Now we come to the Needles part. Mister had these vintage sewing needle cases tucked away and gave them to me last year. They're beautiful . . . and red!

Look how, on this package, it lists the different kinds of needles and their uses. I like the one called "Betweens"!
Oh, by the way, next Wednesday is St. Patrick's Day - I wonder if we can come up with some Irish red for Rednesday!
