TURKEYS, TRINKETS, AND BANNERS

It's that time of year again . . .

A couple of fun finds at the thrift store this past week:

I'm planning on making a Christmas banner using my vintage hankies. I scanned them, and a few floral ones, too. I'm sharing them with you in case you would like to make your own banners! There are 7 Christmas designs and 5 floral. These are PNG files and are 1000 px wide. Enjoy, and feel free to share them, too!

EASTER SPOOLIES

I made these mini spoolies using some Easter tree decorations I found at a thrift store last year, 3/4-inch tall spools, and some poker chips and counting disks for the bases. They're so darn cute - not sure if I'm going to keep them or sell 'em!

HAVE A LITTLE LOVE

I made this little Valentine shadowbox from an Andes Mints box - just the right size for my chipboard letters!

MORE GIFTS I MADE

Here is another neighbor gift. This petite little girl needed some glitter and wings, and now she's happy as can be!

I made two of each of these, for the high school special ed. teachers and the office secretaries.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE!

INSPIRATION WHEEL

I have a Facebook acquaintance who has a problem with obesity. She was supposed to get the surgery but is having a problem with the insurance company, and she's depressed about it. I put her on my prayer list and an idea popped into my mind (thank you, Holy Spirit!). I call it an Inspiration Wheel, based on the Philippians 4:13 verse, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".

I added some motivational words to read as you spin it. The white border looked too plain, so I just grabbed a marker and squiggled a line around it, nothing fancy. I sure hope it lifts her spirits!

MY CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT SWAP PACKAGE!

I got my package!I got my package!

My swap partner, Becky of Crafting Capriciously, went beyond my wildest expectations and sent me all these wonderful things! (Caution: LOTS of photos!)

"Firstly", she made this gorgeous Christmas card!

Here is my ornament - so pretty, covered in felt, buttons and a heart. This is so pretty! (I said that already, didn't I, lol!)

My Christmas apron and white cupboard make the perfect backdrop!

Look at these: a roll of cherries "washi" tape, stamped fabric buttons, three wood spools with stamped fabric, and two crocheted washcloths/hotpads. Each and every one so unique and hand-made with love! (It's so funny, the other day I was at the craft store with my daughter. When we came to the paper tape display she was teasing me because I got huffy when I couldn't find one with cherries!)

Now, take a look at this gem ~ Becky made me a Christmas mini-album! This is so awesome! I always make stuff for everybody else, but hardly ever get around to making myself things. This is so beautiful!

Look, it's got my name on it!

Becky, I just can't thank you enough for all these beautiful items! You made my pre-Christmas days happy!

CRAFTS + SNOW

EDIT:  We ended up with 19 inches! We don't shovel if we can drive the truck through it, but 19 inches is a bit too much! Unfortunately, my shovel gave up the ghost yesterday (even after super glue and duct tape); Mister forgot and left his shovel in the barn after the last storm! So after he swims over there to retrieve it in the morning, we'll have to rotate shifts!

Late this afternoon I wanted to get to the bird feeder so I took a cookie sheet and used it like a scoop! Where there's a will, there's a way!

Jade, the little girl I babysit, saw the spool craft I made for the Easter Swap and wanted to make one herself. So I gave her a small (3/4", 2cm) craft spool and a few doodads, and this is what she came up with:

Butterflies on toothpicks, how creative!

We got clobbered again with another big snowstorm yesterday and today. At least it will melt fast!

(anyone for a swing?)
