Saturday Showcase - Anything Goes

Hi!  I am back with a special post for The Funkie Junkie Boutique Challenge.  The design team is sharing the Saturday Showcase post on the challenge blog.

I had fun creating a trio of ATC's with a variety of ideas and fun embellishments.

My first one used a beautiful embossed background with shimmery highlights to host the adorable dancing star.

She had to be accessorized to glam her up a bit with some tulle and stars!

My next ATC is a nod to the dairy farm.

I used a few farm inspired stamps to create the background and the main image.  The embellishments were pure fun and I was glad I was able to dig through my stash and find a few things that blended with my theme.

My final ATC was inspired by a lovely scrap of inky background.  I went with the silvery blue background and created a lovely flowery vignette.

The background was a scrap of spray inks antique pearl and blue.  I added some Faded Text stamped letters.  The flowers were die cut and sprayed with a mix of blue and brown sprays.  I love butterflies and couldn't resist stamping them and cutting them out to add to my scene.

If you enjoyed seeing my ATC's  you need to hop over to the Challenge Blog and take a look at the design team ATCS!

So Delicate

Time for another beautiful challenge at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Challenge!  This time Jenny is challenging us with So Delicate.  Here is how she describes the challenge:

"Although it's not always evident in my projects, I have a real passion for delicate laces, fragile flowers, fine stitching, intricate artwork and exquisite architecture. For this challenge create something delicate or a vintage/shabby chic project that features delicate things in it."

I have been wanting to play some with the beautiful background stamps from the Tapestry set.  I decided to create a series of ATC's using the stamp and embossing on vellum and a paper bag.

The first ATC has strips stamped on vellum and embossed with white embossing powder.  Then strips were ripped and attached to a white base.

Then layers of flowers were attached with a big bow of twine.  To finish it the word Love was stamped in speckled egg and attached with a few mirror hearts.

The next ATC used an ivory embossing powder and vellum to stamp a background panel and the butterfly.

The ATC has a big ivory bow tied to the middle and the butterfly was cut out and attached behind the bow.  It couldn't shine without me cutting it in half and strategically placing it behind the bow.  A textured resin heart with a rub on of the word love was placed in the center.

For my final ATC I switched things up and stamped on a piece of a brown paper bag.

I partially stamped the tapestry and embossed with ivory embossing powder.  Then a layer of die cuts and a metal heart were added for a focal point.

Come share your delicate art with us!   The Design Team will choose their four top picks who will receive badges to display on their blog in recognition of their outstanding contributions and one overall winner will receive the $25 gift certificate to go on a spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique

Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Mail

Hi!  Who doesn't love getting mail from someone?  We all get excited when we get real mail in the mail box not just junk, bills or advertisements.    The new Darkroom Door stamp set Merry Mail has a beautiful mix of Christmas and mail images.

This had me inspired to create a variety of projects inspired by Christmas tags, Envelopes and a Postcard template.
Darkroom Door Small Stencil Star Rubber Stamp Set Merry Mail Christmas Reindeer Tag
My first tag started with a leftover star from playing with the new Small Stencil.  I had brushed onto white cardstock this star using gold paint.  I cut that out into a shape of a tag.  (I actually mounted the tag onto a tag card base made from red cardstock.

I stamped the post mark onto white cardstock and cut it out to place in the center of the start.  I stamped the No.25 in red ink on the tag.  I added a stamped joy and a few more stars sponged on in gold paint.

A quick and easy tag/card to attach to a gift.  That had me thinking of other tags that I could whip up with a few different stamps.

On this tag I went with a soft silver ink for Santa and a few other background stamps.  I then added a pop of red with the sentiment and the No. 25.  Framed it out with a red background and added some fun red and white striped twine.  Another sweet tag to put on one of the gifts under the tree!

Next up another tag but this time I wanted to switch to non-traditional colors and decided to go pink and green.  I stamped the sleigh first onto the tag.  I stamped the sleigh onto a second piece of scrap paper. I cut it out to use as a mask.  I placed the mask over the sleigh and stamped the tree in green.  It left a little outline But I liked how it made the sleigh pop!

Next I cut a slit into the top of the sleigh.  I stamped santa onto another piece of cardstock.  I cut him out. I actually cut the top half of santa from his legs.  I did this so I could put pop dots under the top half and have santas belly hanging over his legs.  I stuck his legs into the slit on the sleigh.

This would be really cute with one of those pop ups that move.  :)   I then sponged a background tag and mounted the stamped image onto the sponged background and added a coordinating bow.

After my tags I decided to make some envelope art.  I took some plain white envelopes and stamped and stenciled them.

First I stamped santa in the corner with red ink.  I then stamped the sentiment along the left side of the envelope.  I finished by tracing the star stencil around santa.

Next I stamped Santa again in a corner of a white envelope.  I stamped a second Santa and cut him out to use as a mask.  He turned very yellow very quickly. :)  I placed the mask over Santa first.  I then placed the star stencil over the masked Santa.  I sponged all around Santa and into the star yellow dye ink.

I then took the small stars stencil and sponged a mix of stars all over the front of the envelope.  I stamped the Merry Mail and Deliver to using archival ink and drew a few lines for the address.

I like this so much I made a second envelope only using black ink for Santa.

My final project was to make a postcard.  I set up the mailing side of the post card:

Darkroom Door Rubber Stamps Merry Mail Christmas Reindeer Postcard

Just stamped Santa in silver added a happy Merry Mail in red ink. I stamped the Carte Postale along the top and drew a dividing line.

I stamped the front of the postcard just like the envelope but used silver for the stars.

I also created two more tags from a background I created with a mix of silver and gold ink.
Darkroom Door Rubber Stamps Merry Mail Christmas Reindeer Tag
I started by creating the front of what I thought was going to be a postcard.  But when I added the deer and the sentiment I was inspired to cut them down and use them as tags.

Darkroom Door Rubber Stamps Merry Mail Brushed Christmas Vol 1 Tag

I mounted the tags on a background created by sponging versamark around the edges and heat embossing with the gold embossing powder.

Well I hope this has you thinking of fun mail or tags you can create for the holidays!

ATC Collection

Hi!  I have been playing with new stamps! I love the new farm animals from Stampers Anonymous and started playing around with them on a series of ATC's.  A Vintage Journey challenge is the Magic of Three  which had me thinking of a trio of ATC's. I overshot that by one and ended up with four.

I have a few more scraps of cardstock that I started and have to finish up in my series of ATC's.  The tamps are all Stampers Anonymous and the inks are the new Ranger Distress Oxide Inks.

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's a Small Small World

The Frilly and Funkie Challenge is hosted by Cec and she has challenged us with  It's a small small world.  She described the challenge as:   Create or alter something small in a shabby chic or vintage style.  Your finished project can be anything from the size of an inchie, matchbook or domino to the size of a playing card or note card, which means anything from 1 inch to 4 inches and it does not have to be flat.  Be creative and let us know in your post just how small your project is.

I decided to create a series of baby mini tags and ATC using the new Prima Heaven Sent.

They all measure around 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" and are perfect to put on a gift bag, present or box.

The tags were layered with the sweet images and embellished with lovely lace, glitter and pearls.

A button here and there with touches of twine added the perfect touch to the mini tags.  I hope this has you thinking of fun ways to play along in the challenge.

Don't forget that the winner of the challenge will earn the chance of a Guest DT spot at Frilly and Funkie, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. And there are Top 3 Badges for three further outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Spring Trip?

A quick share partially inspired by all the spring color challenges that  are out there right now.  I started with an ATC travel inspired but used the spring colors.

Perhaps a spring trip?

This was all I had time for this morning!  I hope you have a great Saturday!

Trading Post

Good morning!  Today I am trying out a challenge at the Artist Trading Post.  The challenge is to create an ATC inspired by the Trading Posts.  I love creating ATC's and love the idea of the old Trading Posts.

I started with a reference card from the library.  When we were in Phoenix for vacation recently I was able to go out looking for local stamp stores and one of the stores I found had a selection of antique ephemera and bits and pieces.  There was a handful of library reference cards which I just love!  I spent so many hours as a child in the library looking up books with these cards!  It has me wondering what happened to all those cards when they put it online!

Well these particular cards actually describe reference materials for Southwest American Indians which I think is just perfect for the inspiration of Trading Posts.

I used the Wendy Vecchi stencil to add a few lines with the Abandoned Coral overlaid with Walnut stain sponged onto the background.  I then used a few different Stampers Anonymous stamps in the background.

I finished off with tying some twine through the hole on the index card. I added a rusty heart and wing.  The words are from the chit chat stickers.

I hope your week is going well. I didn't realize it was Wednesday!  Yeah!

Anything Goes!

The  Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge   this week is anything goes!  I made myself a challenge of using the same few sets of stamps to create three different ATC's.

I used some leftover pieces on my desktop of inky backgrounds to jump start my ATC's.  Sometimes the ugliest little scraps can turn into something you enjoy creating.

My ATC's feature the dashing gentlemen from the DarkRoom Door  Dashing.

I finished with a tag ATC:
After I finished my trio I wanted to ink up one more of the dashing gentlemen so I pulled out another scrap of green misted background and created one more ATC.

My full set of ATCS:
