Summer's Joy - New Start

This was my April 1st start - Summer's Joy by Precious Moments/Gloria and Pat

She's for my mum - I've been promising her these four seasonal girls for years.  I finished Voice of Spring last year and I don't know if I posted so here she is, just in case!

I'm stitching them all on 14ct white aida since that's what I did the first one on when I started her eons ago!

Later, dears!

Two More!

Hi guys!

So for May I thought I'd try just one project - ONE - because I need to do a fairly intricate baby layette, too. So I'm working on 'My Day Off' and getting nowhere fast.  I'll show you guys my progress at the end of the month.  Meanwhile, I don't think you've seen these two finishes!

'Portrait of Christ' and the Bent Creek Snappers both got done and framed while I wasn't posting. The Snappers aren't actually fastened in the frame yet - they were a present for my Mum and while I was waiting for some framing supplies to come in, she absconded with it and I haven't gotten around to stealing it back to frame properly 😁😁😁

Also, first post from a phone so I hope it looks o.k.

Back soon!

Some Other Finishes

Here's some more of the finishes I did when I wasn't posting.

'A is for Anchor' by The Prairie Schooler

These two aren't entirely new but I did finally get around to putting the names on them.

'Many Moons'

All of those three are from Gloria and Pat 'Precious Moments' books, Vol 1 and Vol 2, to be exact.  I gave them to my Mum for her anniversary and we're just waiting to find the right frame - we want to frame them all in one long frame.

I'll be back with more of these, too, when I figure out what I have and haven't posted!

Better Late Than Never! YoW Update for April

Sorry this is a little late - it took a ridiculously long time to update my album in the Facebook group!

Okay, so - no pics of projects that I didn't work on, but here's what I did get done:

Three Kings - before:

Finished!

 January - before:

Finished!

Lucky Fish - before:

One fish done, the words done, and started both the other two.

Sunset Birds - before:

I'm further into it, although not done with the section yet.

Lovers - before:

Added 1000+ stitches

Rose Bouquet - before:

This has taken over the 'purse kit' spot and now looks like this:

Acquainted with the Night - before:

Got more endless blues and greys done:

I also have a tiny bit of snow to do and Frosty Forest #2, Raccoon Cottage, will be done but... I LOST it.  How do you lose a project that big?!  Actually, I think I may have properly put it away and that's why I can't find it now.  Sheesh.  I'll find it and finish it up - really, like one needle-full of floss! and it'll be done! and then I'll post it.

Some others got a few stitches done, but that's really about it.  Not a hugely productive time but I finished two so I'm satisfied.

Also, I did have a birthday in March and that meant a free birthday start (I'm sticking with 'finish two to start one' and have three 'earned' starts that I haven't used yet).  I got this Riolis kit earlier this year:

And I did this very small start, and haven't worked on it since:

Riolis kits usually have a wool/acrylic super-fine yarn instead of floss.  I've always hesitated about getting one because I'm allergic to wool, but I, hmm, possibly may have gotten some white cotton glove liners, which are like super, super thin, flimsy gloves, and stitch with those on.  Probably, I look like a twit, but I can stitch the pretty Riolis things, so I don't care.

Later, my dearies - I'll post some more finishes soon! (things I finished when I wasn't posting!)

First YoW Finish!

One down, 22 to go :D

I enjoyed every minute of this - I don't know why, when it languished for so long!  This was a Crazy January start (I think) ages ago.  I especially liked backstitching this - the lattice background in particular.  I have no idea why.

Still needs to be ironed, and maybe I'll try my first no-sew cube with it.  I'm not sure.

I've got some progress done on others, but these two in particular:

I'll come back on the 18th to show a full update - I hope to get at least one needle-full of floss in each project.

Also, here's one I finished while I wasn't posting - 'The Tie That Binds' from LaDeDa

A gift for my brother and sister-in-law.

Back soon!

My Birthday Project

I only just got myself organized enough for this - it's been so busy here!  I'll show you why soon :D

For my Birthday Project, I nearly started a Dimensions Gold Collection kit - but I came to my senses and decided to do just a little project, instead.  Stitch Maynia is coming up, where you can start a bunch of things in May and everyone else does too, lol! and I plan to start five (5!) new projects in May.  So I felt something small was the best idea.

I chose another pun from NerdyLittleStitcher.  And I finished it!  Whoo hoo!

Day One:

Day Two:

Day Three:

Day Four:

Day Five:

Can you guess what this one says?

Angel of Grace

All done up!

I got an extra day as my framer had to close on the 9th so I'm going in tomorrow.  Therefore, I had a bit of breathing room.

Finished her up last night and she's lovely!  There's an ort laying next to her wingtip in the picture, but I plan to take a better one after she's been pressed, anyway.

She's currently drying from a very successful bath.  She's so gorgeous!  I wish you guys could see her in person!!!

She's 11x17 on 32ct Bay Leaf Joblean.  I don't have a start date, and she languished in my UFO pile for years, so I can't really say how long she took.  But she's done and I'm thrilled :D :D :D

I have two more finishes to show you tomorrow - I will be scheduling the post 'cause tomorrow is Framer & Christmas Shopping Day.  I plan to be happily exhausted XD

A Report on Little Projects

This post will include finishes, a start, an old WIP, stash, and the bunny story!

First off - I finished 'The Great Light' on 7-17-15:

It came out really pretty!  I did do the tiny french knots in the scripture reference in the wrong holes - they were supposed to be in the middle of the squares.  I fixed it, but the holes they were in are kinda big now.  Usually washing will fix that, though, and this one is gonna need a bath since it went to work with me :D  The only thing I really don't like about it is that the cross on the steeple is off center.  That's the way it's charted, but I may redo it.

That makes 4 out of 7 of Bucilla's 'Christmas Promises' kits done.  Here are the three I have left in my stash:

'Emmanuel', 'Guardian Angels', and 'Peace'.  I will probably do either 'Emmanuel' or 'Guardian Angels' next, since they are similar, and then work 'Peace' in between them.  I won't be starting one yet, though.  I pulled out a Crazy January start - I think from 2013! - to work on next.  It is 'Three Kings' from the 1988 Gloria and Pat freebie pattern leaflet.

I only have the head of the King in green done so far.

And now for a Bunny Story!  I said in an earlier post that the Bunnies were another CJ start, and I had gotten this far:

Originally, I had intended to do just two bunnies, a pinky-white one and a brown one, and give them to my sister, who is a rabbit lover.

Then, this Easter, I made these cakes - remember?

One went to my oldest nephew, whose family was staying with my Mum and Dad.  Everybody ate some of it, but when they got up the next day and looked for the rest - the cake was there, and the candy was there, but the bunny peeps were mysteriously gone.

I also had about thirty bunny peeps left over, and my sister, who doesn't like carrot cake, had asked that I save them for her.  She loves peeps!

Well, they also mysteriously vanished.  Turns out, my Mum has discovered that SHE loves peeps, too.  This is the first year she ever ate any.  The ones at my house had gotten a tiny bit stale, and she says she likes them even better that way.

Weird mother - and this is a lady who will take the food off her own plate to give to someone who wants it - but she was absolutely, 100% unapologetic about eating all the peeps!

So here's how I finished up the bunnies, and the trim I bought for making them into a cushion, a cube, or a flatfold - haven't decided which:

And they will be presented to my Mum on her birthday :D  She will LOVE this and laugh like a lunatic!

Lastly, a start.  I have three nephews - 12, 6, and 2 - and they all are obsessed with Lego!  So I bought this alphabet on etsy:

And I have started the first of three names to be stitched in Lego blocks :D  There is a truckload of backstitch in these and I will be doing it as I go along :D  I'm stitching it on white 18 count.

So, two 'purse' projects done and two more to take their place.  Yay!

And now, I go back to my regular rotation, because I don't have any double shifts for at least the next two weeks (I hope).

Frederick the Literate

Definitely sticking with this rotation...

I.

Finished.

Fred!!!

Granted, he really didn't have that much further to go, but still!

Here he is in all his kitty-glory :D

The metallics were the worst, and they barely even show in the picture - there are rows and rows of metallic backstitching on those red books.  I only left it off in one place, on the big green book behind his bum on the top shelf.  I hated the way it looked on the kit picture and it wasn't any better in real life, so it's not there.

Anyway, here's his wee face, finally with some whiskers.

Picture's a bit dark, sorry!  I didn't do the best job on couching his whiskers, but they're not too bad.  At least he has them!  Poor Fred has been a UFO for years, got taken out a few times, and then ended up right back in my UFO pile.  But he's done now, and he's lovely!

Frederick the Literate is a Dimensions kit, if anyone is interested in stitching him themselves, and he's not hard at all.  I'm just lazy XD

I was supposed to work on whatever project was in this spot of my rotation until the 14th, and start working on another on the 15th.  I finished Fred last night, on the 12th, and I decided to just work on some of my Sprites from DorkStitch until the 15th rolls around.  With whatever I shall work on :D

Z is for Zoe!

Z is for Zoe Washburne.

Another character from 'Firefly', Zoe is second-in-command on the Serenity.  She is one tough lady!  She fought in the war with Mal and still acts like he is her commanding officer.  She is married to the pilot, Wash, even though when she first met him she did not like him and said something about him 'bothered' her.  Fandom thinks it was the weird mustache he had at the time!  Here's a LINK to read all about Zoe.

Zoe is played by Gina Torres:

The gun is perfect for Zoe; she always has a gun of some sort.  It's usually a rifle, but occasionally:

And so!  Z is last and Zoe finishes it all up!  I took a picture as soon as the marker lines were erased :D  I didn't iron it yet, obviously, but here's the completed project :D :D :D

This was fun, but next year, if there is an A-Z challenge and if I join, I'm doing something different!

Well, probably.  That Geek Alphabet by the same designer does look like a lot of fun...

Oh, and Spike?  Totally and forever my favorite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
