Hello again!
There will be a lot of posts over the next weeks as I try to catch up on everything I haven't shared. I'm going to try posting every other day or something like that so I don't drown the blog, lol!
I am doing A Motif A Month (this used to be a challenge somewhere but I don't remember where) on my Mary Wigham sampler, which hasn't seen the light of day in quite a while!
Here's where it was:
And here's my progress!
January - I redid the basket and put the initials to the right in. Also started the next one because I was having fun:
February:
March - I did the coral flower/basket and several sets of initials. I do have to change the JS to JP but I'll get around to it:
I've not done April yet - I'll have to get crackin'!

February Turtle Trot
I worked on six of my ten projects for Turtle Trot this month! (Turtle Trot is hosted HERE)
Wufei, Yarr, Fred, and Snowing got no love but they're next on my list so there should be some progress in March :D
'Unspoken' went from nothing to this:
Almost 1,000 stitches - quite a lot for a slow stitcher like me!!!
'A Great Light' got the first shade of blue done.
Before:
After:
'Cut-Thru Princess Palace' got some backstitching and a potty.
Before:
After:
Christmas Stockings got another finished off:
There are two left!
'Lovers' got the most visible progress -
Before:
After:
And this picture sums up most of my progress on Mary Wigham:
That's the fluff left from pulling out the invisible basket motif.
Here's the wee bit I have restitched - you can see the 'ghost' of the old motif around it!

By the time March rolls around, I'm hoping to have the two Christmas Stockings stitched so I can replace that slot with my Bent Creek Snapper project - otherwise I'm going easy on setting goals this year :D

Opinions?
So, after fooling myself for a long time, I finally admitted that one of the floss colors on Mary Wigham just didn't show up well enough on the brown fabric. Most people I showed it to said it was fine, no problem, they could see it.
For some reason, I had just never showed it to my father, and Da doesn't mind sharing his opinion - which was, 'why didn't you stitch something in that hole?' 'That hole' being where the small motif in the suspect color was. He didn't see the bigger motif at all. He's got good eyesight, so - away I went, a frogging!
I'm not sure of the new color though - I was limited in my choices because the best-looking ones were too close to some other floss color, and I don't own the full range of DMC without digging into my kitted-up HAEDs, which is not happening! The original is a light shade, but none of the light shades I chose looked right. I finally went with a darker shade, instead.
Here's the picture - the dark olive green, small motif, at the top, between the coral and the light green, is the one that has been restitched. The basket with flowers motif that you can barely see is in the original color.
So - does the color look alright? It took forever to take out that little boooger! I'm not looking forward to doing it again, but if I have to, I will. I'm saving the basket of flowers for much later!

May Flowers
Alternate blog title - 'Now I Will Ramble About Plants, After Some Stitching Progress'
So April is over and May is here - I had lots of fun with the A-Z challenge and wanted to say 'Welcome!' to my new followers! I'm slowly working my way through all the blog posts I missed - April was crazy with work and all.
My stitching goals bombed, too, but I did get another motif on Mary done. It was a rich burgundy-brown shade this time around. I hadn't used this color in the pattern yet.
And I promised a picture of the whole project - here is how she looks! I think there is another motif and then a really small one and I will have reached the bottom on the left hand side.
The colors are still washed out - I have yet to manage a good picture of the colors. Those two nearly-invisible motifs show up perfectly well in real-life.
After the luck I had with Patty, I was telling a co-worker that I thought I might get a few more plants, maybe, and she took that as a hint that I wanted cuttings of the ones on her desk, because I had told her before that I knew how to do that - sometimes. It works with some plants, others it doesn't. But she immediately handed me some scissors. It actually works better to break them, or so I've found, so that's what I did. I really wasn't hinting, by the way, because starting plants from cuttings can be annoying. But I took what I thought might work, and wrapped them in wet paper towels and took them home.
There were four - a plain green leaf, a cactus-y plant, a pretty little heart-shaped plant, and one of those pink vines. The cactus and the heart-shaped one I was able to get a bit of root, so I started those in soil. The other two were in water, with paper towels to hold the leaves above it, so they wouldn't rot.
This was two or three weeks ago, and today I noticed that the little pink plant was putting out a tiny bit of new shoot - very good sign! So I checked, and yes - there was quite a bit of root under that paper towel! So into some dirt she went:

See her little, tiny new growth? And her other leaves are bigger. The plant beside her is doing so well that she's got a name (Agnes) and is about to put into a real pot. The little pink one will get a name if she continues to grow.
The other two - I don't know. The first one is getting very pale, and I checked and there is no root growth. I'm not throwing her out yet, but I don't think she's going to 'take'. I'm not sure about the cactus. He wilted rather badly for a while, but now he has plumped back up again. He still doesn't look all that healthy, and there is no new growth, but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. This pic shows the whole little shelf under my kitchen window, where they are sitting, along with some strawberry plants.
The point of all this rambling, is that taking care of these wee ones has started my gardening itch up big time. So when our little mom-and-pop grocery store got their spring plants in, I bought... um, a few too many. Here's what most of my kitchen is covered in (makes it hard to do dishes. I hate doing dishes. Wonder if there's a connection?)
This is about half of what I got. There are a lot of veggies and some flowers. I'm nursing them along until May 10th - that's the almanac date for going outside! These will mostly be in containers this year, because I didn't get a garden spot plowed up. Next year will be different! The flowers will be going in the 'real' dirt, though!
One last picture - last year my snowball bush was, um, it looked really mangy. This year I went out when the blossoms first started and cut off a good half, at least of the parts I could reach. My snowball is much taller than me! Now the blossoms are already the size they were last year when they turned white - so I hope they will grow much bigger! That big one isn't turning, it's just flash-burned.
This is the only kind of snow left around here! Knock on wood - but I've never once seen it snow after the last week of April. My Dad says it has, but I don't remember it. Is it Spring where you guys are?

A Motif for Mary
I took a look back through my blog, and I think the last time I posted about poor Mary Wigham was in 2011. I stitched another set of initials since then, but nothing else.
Yesterday I added a motif - this lovely half-motif in black and blue. I had to tweak it a lot - I'm not stitching this as an exact replica, since I'm using my own choice of initials and so I've been fixing the mistakes as I go because I kinda like symmetry. Sometimes the mistakes are little, and I don't worry about them, but this motif was all kinds of messed up. I didn't realize it when I stitched the top half, so it's the bottom half that got fiddled with the most. I couldn't fix it perfectly without moving the motif over and down a bit, and I didn't want to have to adjust the whole rest of the sampler, so it's as I could, and not quite as I would. But I'm happy with it.
I may stitch another motif this month, but I will definitely stitch another next month. When I do, I'll take a picture of the whole project.
I've now paid off all of my HAED layaways except for the newest one - yes, I put some more on during that Valentine's sale! I couldn't resist... I think stash-buying is a disease. But I have 'til May to get it paid off. In the meantime, here's another from one of the earlier layaways - another of Dahlig's Sins.

She's far from being the last of the new patterns! I'm not getting any more for a while unless they have a sale of at least 35% off. Even then I think I'll just knock one or two of the QS patterns off my wishlist.

ISHW
I almost forgot to post today!
I kept wandering around, knowing there was something I was supposed to do...
Anyway, for Hermit Weekend I finished a motif on Mary Wigham

and here's all of Miss Mary currently, looking pretty while basking in the afternoon sunshine.

I'm only one set of initials away from finishing the top row.
I also stitched up Loz

and Cthulhu

er, I mean Yazoo!

Mary Wigham is from Needleprint I think you can still download her for free but I'm not sure.
Loz & Yazoo are from Dork Stitch I know they are free :D

Not Missing Miss Mary
I came very, very close to forgetting about Mary Wigham's November motif - I realized today that I hadn't stitched one.
So I totally cheated :D

One tiny baby yellow motif for November. Normally I would have done this one and a big one, but at least she got some attention!
I finished my Bride's Tree ornament for the month, too.
It's one of the Lavender and Lace Christmas Angels, done up in brown to look more like an Autumn angel.

Have you guys heard about the Crazy January Challenge? Talk about something I totally do not need to join and did anyway!
Here's my first few choices for the challenge:

Already kitted and ready to go :D

I'm only stitching the Santa with the red box around him for the challenge. The others will be done later.
Two chosen, thirteen to go! I'm going to mix in some knitting, crochet, and other crafts, too.

Mary and the Angel
Here is the motif for Mary Wigham that I stitched this month - this is the closest I have come in having this color of floss show up in the picture like it does in real life. It's still not quite this faded, but it's better than the other pics have been!

And here's the motif with the rest:

Color's still fairly good in this one; I wish wish wish I could get it right but oh, well. I can't get it with any of my camera settings... no matter what light it's in...
And here's my angel as she was last time I stopped working on her:

SIDE A

SIDE B (lol! I know the sides don't match but I hadn't worked on this part any more since.)
And as she is after 10 hours:

Ten more to go this month!
I've finished all the crocheting on my SIL's shawl, now I'm working on the beaded fringe... here's a not-very-good pic of it.

I'm only using pony beads because this shawl will see a lot of use and they're easily replaceable. The diamonds look oddly misshappen in this pic but they're not that bad for a first time trying this. They'll straighten out a bit more when I block it.

Mary & Lizzie*Kate
I got this in the mail:

and immediately made this:

That's the Lizzie*Kate ornament from the issue, with the colors washed out a bit by my flash. It's super simple and looks really cute (like a little package) the way it's supposed to be finished. I have to buy some Christmas fabric to start finishing all these up!
I'm still going to try to do another of my little kits, too, but if I don't finish it, at least this one will do for my goal :D
Here's the motif I stitched for Mary Wigham:

Which leaves her looking like this now:

Progress! I may go back and change the pattern like I did with the yellow motif, by doing the few little stitches it would take to make her symmetrical. I know the original wasn't, but it's not as charming, to me, that I'm copying a mistake instead of making my own XD. Once I finish my Bride Tree stuff, I'm bumping Mary up to two motifs a month, otherwise she will never get done.
Next post - pics of Chibi-Severus' progress!

Little Things
Here are some of the little things I had done.
Two very small additions to Mary Wigham:
And a 'chibi' style pic of Snape, pattern from PCStitch. I've stitched all the black on him first, just to see how that went. (Pic was used with artist's permission)
I've been working away at the black on Spike but I don't want to post another pic of him until I have more done. I've also been working on HAEDs - my new SAL SK and a big project. I've also finished another Bride's Tree ornie, but I forgot to take a picture of it.

Mary Wigham for April
Here is my April motif on Mary Wigham - I stitched the black half basket, since there are so few days in April left!

This pic is the closest I've come to the true colors of the floss, although it washed the pink motif and the fabric out just a little.
Also, here is my first 10 hours on 'Lost in You'. A little over 1150 stitches... and it's sooooooooo tiny!
I'm stitching it 2 over 1 on 22ct. It's not as uneven as it looks, it's very smooth. I guess the light caught it oddly. Sorry about the penny, I wanted to show someone how small the stitches were, and when I took it off to take another pic, my batteries went dead XD I think that's also why both pics are a wee bit dark. Ah, well, still learning about the new camera!
Only 238,850 stitches to go!

Mary's Motif for March
My title has alliteration, lol!
Anyway, here's Mary's progress:

I did the pink motif and the yellow initials (my Dad's)
Off to try for 10 more hours on 'Market' this month; I want to work on Spike or start a new HAED, but I'm determined to get Market done soon.
Oh, and I've been doing job training all week so while I had a little free time, I stitched instead of reading blogs. I'll catch up, I promise! :D
