In big trouble

I turned my eyes for one second and look what happens. This boy is most definitely a boy, figuring out all sorts of ways to get into trouble. And don't worry, the picture was taken as I was in the act of bringing the climber down :)

A summer project

I got this crazy idea that having a garden on my patio could be a fun idea. A couple of years ago I bought a bunch of planters, and when the summer was over stuck them in our storage shed. While at Walmart a
couple days ago, I walked by the garden section and the inspiration hit so I bought a couple seed packets and some potting soil. I plantedsome Rosemary, oregano, basil, green onions, spinach, and bell peppers. We also bought a pretty substantial tomato plant (since the bigger it is when you buy it=the sooner you get produce!). I'm looking forward to a summer of gardening balcony style :)

The big haircut adventure- before

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that my baby's hair was looking a little unkempt. I hadn't really noticed how crazy his sideburns were getting or how much his eyebrows and his bangs were melding together.
But one day I looked at him, and was shocked at how much that stood out to me. I had seen a little place called Cookie Cutters by my parents house that specializes in kids hair cuts, and thought it would be a fun place to take him for the momentous first haircut. And not only that, but I wouldn't have to worry about doing a horrible cut job myself ;) Jack did great for the cut, and it was really a good little experience for us. I love his haircut and how handsome and grown up my tiny dude is getting to be!

A mini trip

We love Brian Regan! After missing his show in Salt Lake City while we
were in Atlantic city, we found out he was coming to the Tuacahn
theater in St. George! We got tickets and headed down for a 24 hour
get away. We were able to meet up with Steve's cousin Brooke for some
awesome Thai food (Thanks for the recommendation Brooke!) and then hit
the show. Jack did great at the show- we think partly because of all
the laughing people around him that he got to watch :p The Tuacahn was
beautiful- I can't ever get over what an amazing setting it is! We had
a great time, and can't wait for our next opportunity to visit lovely
St. George for some theatrical fun!

Practice makes perfect

For Steve's birthday, I gave him a coupon for a dessert of the month
for the year. This month I ventured again into pie making to make one
of his all time favorite treats- peacheesy pie. I may have mentioned
that my mother in law makes the best pie crust in the world- which
makes it a rather intimidating feat for me to try the pie thing. For
my man, however, I continue to try try again :) and I think I'm on my
way to consistently creating a beautiful flaky base for this
delictable treat :D

Blessed bank teller

At Steve's new place of employment, the only option till recently to
get paid was a physical check. I think the last time I got paid with a
real check (and not direct deposit) was when I was 18. Anyway, we've
been visiting the bank every week to deposit these checks. Usually
it's the last place we stop as it's very close to home, and Jack is
usually fussing and ready to be out of the car by that point. Luckily
for him, today we had a great teller who inquired if I needed any
treats after my transaction was complete, probably due to my whining
baby boy in the back seat. I told her one would be great, and she sent
me a lovely sucker. I promptly unwrapped the sucker and handed it back
to the little hands behind me. The rest of the way home all I heard
was slurping :p after a long day of a fussy teething baby, it was like
heaven. Bless you, bank tellers and your little candy bowls!

Slumber party cuppies

Sent from my iPhone

A sisters day project

Today at sisters day we did a cupcake bonanza. As part of the party I
demonstrated how to make this cute cupcake bouquet. It was actually
the first time I made one, but I really liked how it came out! We also
made some cute slumber party cupcakes (which I'll post a photo of
above). Steve's co-workers were all very impressed when I dropped this
off for them afterwards. Gotta love girly craft things :)

Playing catch up

I'm afraid I've fallen behind in my blogging! Check below for more than a couple fun posts about what's been happening in our world!

PG-13 again, the bachelorette cake

One of my cute co-workers, Chelsea, is getting married this month. A few of the girls on the unit decided to throw together a little bachelorette party for her. As you can imagine, when labor and delivery nurses throw a bridal shower, there is nothing mild about it. As part of the planning, I was asked to make a lingerie cake. I looked around for a long time for ideas, trying to find a good balance between appropriate for the situation and appropriate for the LDS audience ;) I actually really like how it turned out, and it was a total hit at the party. The cute bride and groom were both there when I arrived with the cake, and it was so fun to see their reaction. I also got to hear their love story, and see how sweet with each other and in love they are. It reminded me of how exciting being engaged was! Chelsea got hooked up with some great necessities, and was educated on many points. It was an awesome night. I'm so glad I got to be part of it, and I'm super excited for my cute little Chels and her prince charming!
Thanks to Jodi for the two pictures in this post with actual people in them- again I failed and forgot my camera during the actual event!

Feeding the ducks

With the beautiful weather a while ago, we decided to meet Steve for a picnic lunch one day at a park. Our park of choice for the last year has been this great little tucked away park in Provo that has a duck pond and a great walking path around it. It's actually where we went when I was 37-39 weeks pregnant to walk and try to get labor going, and where we went afterwards for me to start working off the pregnancy weight. And now, after the long winter, we decided it was time to take our baggy of bread loaf ends (the part we just don't like to eat) and our baby and feed the ducks! I actually remember doing the same thing with my parents and my sisters at BYU when I was a little smidgen. Jack was very impressed with the ducks, though they were not impressed with our 7-grain bread. Oh well :)

PG-13- Dora and the rash

What a cute little bum. It's a good thing too, since I was stuck looking at it while we got rid of the nasty thrush rash! Sent from my iPhone
