Two Cali Girls I Love :)

After the fam vacation, due to plan changes, I ended up having a full day in California to kill. I was incredibly lucky to get to spend my day with two amazing grilfriends, Ashley Hardy and Jonelle Morris (and fam!). From Long Beach I drove a rental car down the coast to Carlsbad where I was able to have lunch with Ashley and be introduced to a fabulous little restaurant called Rubio's (which they totally have here in Utah too! Sweet!). Ashley and I are old EFY co-counselors- we shared our very first week as counselors together, and even after two years of counseling, i still think back on that week as one of my very favorite! :) Thanks for lunch Ashley! Remember- the sooner you make your way down to Utah- the sooner I share my Cafe Rio with you! :)
Then

Now

After lunch I made my way up north to Ventura, CA to see Spenny and Jonelle Morris and their cute baby boy! The traffic was pretty much the worst thing I've ever had to drive in (going through LA on Friday at five....). I learned two important lessons from the drive- however. #1- I'm a pretty tough chic, even after being married for two years. I can still bust out into my independent Laura mode if need be :) LOL. And #2 don't tick off the drivers around you if you're driving in traffic like that- they will be next to, behind or in front of you for the next 2-3 hours and that could be incredibly awkward... (I never actually had this happen, just realized that it could be a hazardous situation! :)

When i finally got to Ventura, I found that the drive was well worth the time! Jonelle and Spenny and Logan took such great care of me. We all were able to go and see the beach and the boat harbor, which is super close to the Morris' home. I'm so jealous of the beautiful area they get to live in, and I guess I'm starting to understand why it costs so much to live in Cali. After the sightseeing, we all headed back and enjoyed Nellie's wonderful home cooking. It's my goal to be able to cook as well as Jonelle... maybe one day... :) The rest of the night was nice and relaxed and we enjoyed talking and playing board games! Thanks so much for the wonderful evening guys! It sure was a blast!!

It was so fun to see you! And sorry again about not giving you more warning about the drive down. :) We are glad you made the trip though! And I'm sure you're a way better cook than me! I'm glad you enjoyed beautiful California!
