A Shell in Your Pocket

This week's challenge at The Kraft Journal is a Pick Three challenge.  Choose your choice of at least 3 items from the chart.  For my easel card, I started with a Lunch Bag Kraft Note Card. The beach patterned paper was layered on a piece of Lunch Bag Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock.  All the shells are colored with Copics. As a child, growing up in Florida meant we spent a lot of fun days collecting shells on the beach.  Ocean...shells...beach....all bring back memories of those fun times.

A Mini Polka Dot Kraft Merchandise Bag holds a tag, also made from Lunch Bag Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock, for a message or a gift card. The "hello" die cut was by stacking two diecuts cut from Lunch Bag Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock and one diecut of patterned paper.

I managed to fit five of the items from the list on my card: beach, shell, aqua, sentiment and punch.

Supplies:
Card base: Lunch Bag Kraft Note Card - The Kraft Outlet
Cardstock: Lunch Bag Kraft Cover Weight Cardstock -The Kraft Outlet, White Cardstock  - Papertrey Ink
Patterned Paper: Paper House (Beach)
Stamps: Deedee's Digis (Seashells)

There's a New Challenge Blog in Town!!

Today a new challenge blog, Anything Goes With a Twist, is launching and Deedee's Digis is a sponsor for this first challenge.  Anything Goes With a Twist is a blog for card and non-card projects.  Each challenge will be Anything Goes but with a "twist."  They kept it easy for the first one and there isn't a twist - it's just Anything Goes.  :)   The blog has all the rules/details for participation.

My project today uses two sets from Deedee's Digis:  Turtle-rific Day and Teacher's Pet.  This is a birthday card/gift card holder. You can find one I made with a coffee theme and only one gift card here.  A YouTube tutorial by Holly Krautkremer gave me the inspiration for this project.

I used the pre-colored owl from Teacher's Pet as the focal image. The owl was printed, fussy cut and popped up on the Happy Birthday circle.  The matted image panel is attached to a belly band that holds the card closed. Some glossy accents to the owl's eyes and beak give him some fun dimension.

Two little "file cards" provide a place to write a personal message and tuck into their own little pocket.  This card was for our son-in-law's birthday.  He always makes a point to write a note in cards that he and our daughter send to us.  So, my husband and I wanted to both send him a note on his birthday. Having two little cards gave us both room to write our birthday messages.

Here is the card completely opened up.  The two little note cards are in the top pocket and then we put gift cards in the bottom two pockets.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Recollections (kraft), Georgia Pacific (white), Core'dinations (chipped sapphire)
Patterned Paper:  My Mind's Eye (Remarkable)
Stamps:  Deedee's Digis (Turtle-rific Day and Teacher's Pet)
Tools/Embellishments:  Spellbinders Dies (Petite Scallops Circle Large, Labels 4, Labels 4 Small, Standard Circles Small), My Favorite Things Die-namics (Pinking Edge), Glossy Accents

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

Reindeer Gift Card Holder

Yes, this is the 2nd post for the day.  I had a chance to have a crafty day with a friend yesterday so I have a couple extra projects to show you.  :) The current challenge at the Scrapbook Blessing Club is to make a twisted gift card holder.  You can find a link to a video tutorial on their blog. I've made these before and, for me, the greatest challenge is cutting the pattern paper.  I make a template but then turn it the wrong way when cutting my good paper. grrr I finally got it turned the right way and all is well.  :)

This version has lots of glitter and sparkle.  The green background paper has lots of glitter and the deer and snowflakes are covered with glitter as well (so was my desk).  The pocket on the front is glued shut. I had a bit of a seam where the two papers met, so, I used a strip of pearls to cover the seam.  The reindeer is popped up over the pearls and off the card.

After stamping and die cutting the interior left sentiment, I traced the inside edge of the die with a gold gel pen.  This added just a bit of sparkle.  The mat was die cut and then the edges covered with Versamark ink.  I embossed it with gold embossing powder and then while it was still hot added glitter embossing powder and reheated it to set it all.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Georgia Pacific
Patterned Paper:  DCWV (Heirloom Christmas stack)
Stamps:  Mark's Finest Papers (Greetings of the Season), Studio G (Merry Christmas)
Ink:  Versafine (Onyx Black), Versamark
Tools/Embellishments:  Spellbinders (Deckled Rectangles Large and Small), Michael's gold gel pen, Joee's Boutique dimensional stickers, pearls (The Paper Studio), StampCraft gold embossing powder, A La Mode Sparkle embossing powder

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
Scrapbook Blessings Club Challenge #6 - Twisted Gift Card Holder
4 Crafty Chicks #168 - Snowflakes
Clear it Out Challenge:  Theme:  Anything Goes; Stash:  Put a Snowflake on your card
