Designer's Challenge Stripey Background - Wednesday's With Claudine

Wednesday brings another fun challenge over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog

This week our hostess is the lovely Corrie and she is challenging us to do a "Stripey Background" but no using patterned paper for this.

Ok, I love using stripes so this challenge is right up my alley

I used Stampotique Stamps -

Barcode Text 2 and French Journal Page By artist France Papillon

Daniel's Hearts, Twinkie and Checkers By artist Daniel Torrente

I decided to do a journal page for this challenge

I am kinda in love with this page. I just love the humorousness of Twinkie and "shenanigans" is my new favorite stamp!

Come on over and join us at Stampotique Designers Challenge Blog and join in on this fun challenge

a journal page

I love it when I have a nearly finished journal (which doesn't happen often!) as it gives me the oomph I sometimes need to get journaling!  This is my passport sized moleskine journal.

I couldn't find my gelli plate but did find a cellophane packet so inked it up, sprayed it with water and printed it onto my gessoed page.

Some added depth of colour using a sponge .... and that's where I forgot I was taking step by step photos!  Oops!

There's a bit of text stamped in the background for added texture, then I stamped 'Daniel's hearts' in black directly onto the page.  They didn't stamp well in the centre so I stamped them again on another inked up piece of paper, cut them out and added them to the page.

A little quasimoto and a quote and my page was done.

love struck

I've been playing with Kira's fabulous 'smitten moustache monsters' in my A5 journal.  They are such a lot of fun :)  I don't know how I've resisted colouring them in, they are just shouting out for it ... but not on this page, today I wanted the black and white contrast.

There's more information on how I made my journal page over on my blog, The Art of Moodling, thanks for visiting!

just b u

When I saw that Roc, Val and Janet had all used Roc Nicholas's just be u image I thought it might be fun to use it too, and continue demonstrating how versatile just one stamp can be!

 .

I sprayed a scrapling with Dylusions inks then stamped Daniel's hearts in the background before adding just be u in black ink.  I then stamped this again on some book paper, cut out the larger letters and added them to the scrapling.

I used Val's idea of blocking in the shadow and if you look carefully, you can see some added sparkle on the letters ( I used metallic gold thread in my sewing machine).  The little bird was paper pieced from some scrap painted paper.

Thanks to my fellow teamies for the inspiration for my project this week, and for the lovely, kind comments you've been leaving

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day!  I hope you have a lovely one.

I'm in a sewing mood at the minute ...

... so I gathered a collection of fabrics, stamped on a couple of them then settled down at my sewing machine.

my Stampotique February calendar pages by Sarah A

I am so pleased with myself...I've got beyond January with this year's calendar pages!  This is a first :)

To be honest, it's probably because I'm committed to posting here each Friday ... calendar pages are a nice project to share.  I also enjoyed the challenge of just using Stampotique images.

I decided to colour Peggy's face and hands, rather than paper-piece them.  Whilst colouring I discovered that she had a heart on her jumper ... I'd never noticed that before!

I was a bit worried that the white hearts stood out too much, but once they have writing on they 'tone down' a touch ...

... and I think I like it :)
