a discombobulated pony

I know I've said this before ...

... but I just love how Roc Nicholas' images lend themselves so beautifully to paper piecing!!  And her new ponytail is no exception!

brusho ink in my journal

I have been playing ...

... with my latest toys - the brusho inks that everyone is using!  Who knew that this stock item in every primary school art cupboard could be so much fun!!

Whenever I use something new I start with my favourite colours - just lovin' that turquoise!!  Because it's an ink powder, splashing spots of water on the page and dabbing it off (one of my favourite techniques of the moment) doesn't work once the ink is dry, but I managed to catch it before it dried and got a lovely effect.  I'm happier splashing water on my pages than bleach!

I think Nina looks right at home on this double spread journal page, and Daniel's circles give lots of choice for a sun!

Sarah's art journaled tag

...and mine is definitely amongst my paints, papers and rubber stamps!

This tag started off with a sponge ink base that I didn't like so I tore it off, and decided I quite liked the effect.  I'm going to add it as a page in one of my small A6 journals.  It nearly looked like this

... but in the end, decided to include Gucio.  Sometimes it's so hard to know!

a challenging journal page

Last week Kay's Stampotique challenge was to use black and white with a pop of colour, which is one of my favourite challenges.  I use this in reverse a lot but only use it this way round when challenged, don't know why!!

The little scrap of blue was a piece I made for another project that didn't work out, but I liked it so kept it.  Really must do use this theme again, I really enjoyed the challenge!!

art journaling with Stampotique

I love these little quails of Janet Klein's and use them quite a bit in my journals.

It's the busiest time of year for me at the minute, but that'll finish today when school finishes for the Summer.  So I'm sharing a journal page I made a while ago using my Stampotique stamps - I've loved this company's images for a long, long time.

I rarely write in my journals but I do enjoy using snippets from book; old books often have the most fantastic phrases.

Fit for a Princess

Here's something very different for me and I'm quite nervous sharing this. Firstly I played with some paper clay, never done that before! Secondly I've used just one stamp, I don't think I've done that before either, I usually use as many as I can on each creation.
The inspiration for this came one evening after doing the washing up, I usually take my ring off and put it down somewhere even though I wear rubber gloves. One evening I thought I had lost my favourite ring and I just thought that this had to stop as it wasn't the first time. So I go my thinking cap on and came up with this. The paper clay was really easy to use, I painted it when it was completely dry and added some silver leaf and the lovely daisies which are part of the Daisy Daisy stamp. I finished off with a coat of gloss medium for protection.
Now I'll always know where my ring is.
I hope you like it, Sam xxx

Twinchie Time

I've very recently discovered twinchies, and fear they could take over my life! The background is spray inks and a stencil, and the Vintage Script has been embossed in white. Carol's Flower (small) and Daisy Daisy have been coloured  with viva glass and pearl paints. My love affair with glass glitter and mica flakes continue with the stems.
These are great fun to make, so if you've never twinchied before, give it a go.
Thanks very much for looking x
