Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree ...

... how lovely are your branches!

I love twiggy trees like this and would be quite happy with this as a Christmas tree, I'd just add white lights and some silver baubles.

Wednesday brings another fun challenge over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog

This week our hostess is the lovely Corrie and she is challenging us to do a "Stripey Background" but no using patterned paper for this.

Ok, I love using stripes so this challenge is right up my alley

I used Stampotique Stamps -

Barcode Text 2 and French Journal Page By artist France Papillon

Daniel's Hearts, Twinkie and Checkers By artist Daniel Torrente

I decided to do a journal page for this challenge

I am kinda in love with this page. I just love the humorousness of Twinkie and "shenanigans" is my new favorite stamp!

unfinished!

Sometimes a journal page just sits there for a while ...

...and sometimes that 'while' can be a lonnnnng one!  This page started off with some brown spray which sat in my journal for ages.  I recently added some blue (love blue and brown together), didn't like it so used my solution to most pages I don't like - white paint/spray through a stencil :)

I love those large circles so complemented them with one of Stampotique's new release images - Daniel's circles.  They're stamped over one of my very favourite Stampotique images - numeric.

So now I have a double page spread I love, but is still unfinished...

...and that's okay!  It's just the way of art journaling flows.

Lucy in the sky with diamonds

It's Bling week at the Design Team Challenge .  Our lovely and talented France Papillon has asked us to "Bring on the Bling."
My "Lucy" is Magda's Agatha's Moon.  Also in this card is Daniel's circle cube and France's essential Design Cube

circles on a journal page

I am very happy with this journal page spread!

It started off as a bit of a rubbish gelli print which I painted over with some turquoise brusho, thinking it might lift it - it did!!

Then I started playing around with Daniel's circles cube from Stampotique

and lots of variety in text and numerals.  The background numeral piece is from my scratch paper on my worktable; it's how I clean my stamps - by stamping them repeatedly on scrap paper!!

Add some doodling ... and Sarah is a happy art journaller!!

Tag for a gift bag

This mixed media background is layered with acrylic inks, sprays, Gelatos and modeling paste with stencils.  I created it on tag board and trimmed into tag shapes.  Add a Stampotique image such as Daniel's Cup Of Fun Certainty for a one-of-a-kind gift tag.

Leaving the gift tag blank gives the receiver the opportunity to re-gift the tag. : -)

Ghouls and Goblins - Wednesday's With Claudine

Hello all, thanks for coming by the blog again. As you know Wednesday marks another fun challenge over at The Stampotique Designer's Blog and this week our hostess is the great Kristen Catalano and she has challenged us to do some Ghouls and Goblins. Being that it's so close to Halloween, what a fitting challenge.

I decided to do a journal page for this challenge and I used Stampotique Stamps:

Buru!Spider WingsCircles Cube and Lovelyarethesound all by artist Daniel Torrente

Barcode Text #2 - By Artist France Papillon

This is my finished journal page, I love how the background came out with the embossed paper and the acrylic paints but the star of this page is Lovelyarethesound and Buru! It looks as though Buru has become discombobulated! haha!!

Happy Halloween!!!

brusho ink in my journal

I have been playing ...

... with my latest toys - the brusho inks that everyone is using!  Who knew that this stock item in every primary school art cupboard could be so much fun!!

Whenever I use something new I start with my favourite colours - just lovin' that turquoise!!  Because it's an ink powder, splashing spots of water on the page and dabbing it off (one of my favourite techniques of the moment) doesn't work once the ink is dry, but I managed to catch it before it dried and got a lovely effect.  I'm happier splashing water on my pages than bleach!

I think Nina looks right at home on this double spread journal page, and Daniel's circles give lots of choice for a sun!

Black, Purple and Pink - Wednesday's With Claudine

Hello all, Wednesday always marks another wonderful Challenge over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog and this week our hostess is the wonderful Carol Fox

Carol has challenged us to use the colors Black, Purple and Pink.. incredibly these are some of my favorite colors and I just love them together
For this challenge I really wanted to do a two page journal spread

I used Stampotique Stamps
Young Ignis , Ignis Heart by artist Magda Polakow
Circle Cube - By artist Daniel Torrente

I also added some handwritten quotes to my background
I stamped my Young Ignis, and Ignis Heart stamps onto a separate sheet of paper and colored them with copics
I stamped the circle cube stamp onto pink paper with embossed dots that I had colored some of those black, I cut those circles out and added them to my background

Here is my journal page -

(note - I added the stitching to the teddy here, the original stamp has no stitching)

Thanks so much for coming by and if you want to know more about how this page was created please hop on over to my blog

Bob's in time out

Kim is hostess this week at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge and is calling for a masculine card.  I selected Daniel Torrente's "Bob’s in time out" to go on a muted collage background.  I stitched on a distressed tag and stamped "misunderstood" from Carol's collection.

Hazel Jester and Clothes Text - By artist Linda Peterson

Halloween Cube - By Artist Daniel Torrente

Here is the ATC I created, I printed out the saying from the computer

and here is the ATC with the coordinating card

This was fun and I just love how Hazel is so proud in her Jester costume!

SDC162 - Under The Sea - Wednesday's With Claudine

Hello everyone and thanks again for stopping by the blog. This weeks Challenge over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog is "Under The Sea" chosen by our wonderful Arwen McCullen

For my project today I chose to use a background that I had previously made in one of my art journals. I was actually experimenting to see if this mesh type material would stay if I adhered it with gel medium, it ended up staying pretty well and I thought it kind of looked like fish netting.

I also had previously used a stencil to add some lettering along the bottom and used Dyan Reaveley sprays for my background.

I decided for this under the sea page, I wanted to use Stampotique Stamps -

Something Fishy - By Amy Wilson-Wellenstein

Smushallaum - By Daniel Torrente

Smushasha - By Daniel Torrente

Seaweed - By Jo Capper-Sandon

Breakfast - By Daniel Torrente

Here is my finished page

The page turned out just how I imaged, it looks like the mermaids have caught the creature in the netting, I also cut the hand so that it was reaching through the netting, as if he was trying to escape.

I hope you have enjoyed my creation today, make sure to try out a "under the sea" creation of your own and link up to
Stampotique Designer's Challenge in order to be eligible to win.

You and me together, yeah, yeah

Kathi is hosting the SDC160 this week and the theme is music inspired.  I usually have a song in my head but Dave Mathews "You and Me" seems to pop in every now and then.

In this music inspired card I  put Mela  and Hunk together, both by Daniel Torrente.  I think they make a cute pair, don't you?

a journal page

I love it when I have a nearly finished journal (which doesn't happen often!) as it gives me the oomph I sometimes need to get journaling!  This is my passport sized moleskine journal.

I couldn't find my gelli plate but did find a cellophane packet so inked it up, sprayed it with water and printed it onto my gessoed page.

Some added depth of colour using a sponge .... and that's where I forgot I was taking step by step photos!  Oops!

There's a bit of text stamped in the background for added texture, then I stamped 'Daniel's hearts' in black directly onto the page.  They didn't stamp well in the centre so I stamped them again on another inked up piece of paper, cut them out and added them to the page.

A little quasimoto and a quote and my page was done.

Christmas In July - Wednesday's With Claudine

Hello all and welcome to another Wednesday

Wednesday marks another new challenge over at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge Blog
Our wonderful Gez Butterworth is our hostess this time and she has challenged us to do something in the theme "Christmas in July"

It seems a bit early to do something in a Christmas theme but it is a nice break from all the summer challenges and I think it's a great time to think about the coolness of winter, specially when it's been so hot outside

I decided to make a postcard for this challenge but I went with a little switch up and made a round one instead of a rectangle.

For my creation today I used Stampotique Stamps

Global Warming - By Artists Jill Penney and Daniel Torrente
Barcode Text - By Artist France Papillon

Here is my finished postcard:

Make sure to come by the Designer's Challenge Blog and participate, we always love to see your creations for the challenges and as always you might win a 30.00 gift card to Stampotique Originals online store.

Have a wonderful day!!

Hello everyone and welcome to another Wednesday with me.

My piece was based upon the new Designer's Challenge and this week's challenge was brought to you by Kathi Rerek
She chose the theme Bon Voyage or Vacation

Some of the ladies on the design team are going on vacation this summer so it's great to hear all about the places they have seen or been.

For my project I did a postcard and used Stampotique Stamps
Stacked Suitcases by Artist France Papillon
Cross Hatch Swirl - By Artist Maryse Carrier
Oh Tree - By Artist Daniel Torrente (for the heart)

My husband is in the Air Force so this is something that I strongly believe, he always takes a piece of me with him wherever he goes.
